Sorry to Botalz and DarkForte for the last round feature mess up. We started in the wrong channel. Hopefully it was still fun to watch.
I really think Machina Haven is heavily slept on based on what the community tier list shows. I think it’s the 4th best deck in the format.
I feel like the community is way too vibe based instead of testing based. There's no way Machina Haven is the third to last deck.
I think decks without powerful ways to finish the game are much tougher to pilot when other decks have such easy access to on game plan out of hand damage. This is probably why decks like this get rated lower overall in the community
@@BurnOneSVE I don't feel the wincon problem others have with Machina Haven. Board wiping until the opponent stops moving is a pretty decent wincon and the back breaking board Aether is able to belt out with Father Refinement are pretty sick too. Dark Jeanne has also never been better since so many followers have 3 defense meaning she can come in, turn your leftover Marcottes, Nuns, and Falcons into beaters, and spike the opponent for 4 damage while clearing a 6 defense follower in the process. It really does feel like barely anyone has actually bothered to play Machina Haven and are going by what people said about how it did in JP. The usual doom and gloom where a couple of people say Haven is literally always bad in JP when it ends up being consistently strong in EN if a bit unexplored.
That’s interesting what the community thinks as a control abyss player nat sword is my most free match up
I'm always torn between who I think is favored in the match up. I'm kind of leaning like a 55-45 match up on Natura Sword's favor, but honestly it's really close to a 50-50 imo in either directions
@ I might just be a cut above the rest then or I still haven’t fought a crazy sword player I never felt pressure and I fought that the most at BCS Philly
its always fun when they leave a 14 atk Maisha or a 7-10 atk Mistolina on the board then i blow it up next turn with a soul dealer or a Kahwy + Soul Conversion.
@ it feels so good 😮💨❣️
@@midwestchief8968 Natura Sword has the highest potential for sure but it feels like people aren't piloting it very well.
Anyone else surprised on how the community voted? Really thought people would be more high on Natura Dragon after it's recent tops!
Keep up the good work
Thanks, will do!
170 people registered,163 people played. After 7 rounds of Swiss, JayW was 4th, Midwest Chief was 6th, SenpaiSalt was 7th, GUMI was 8th. All X-1 then converted to top 4 at top cut.
I was the control abyss that got top 4 I was 6-1 going into 6th for the top cut
I've been playing with Jeanne instead of Marlone and she feels like she completes the deck by turning it into board wipe turbo. I'm really low on Robogoblin and I'm not super high on Technolord since I find it hard to play it for the full 6. I've tested no Robogoblin 1 Technolord 2 Amethyst Lion (can be cut tbh) 1 Dark Jeanne 2 Kaede 1 Aether and it's felt good but I could easily go up to 3 on Kaede or 2 on Aether.
@@geek593 i had awkward situations where I wanted the technolord effect and couldnt get enough machina because jeanne was screwing me lol. I think jeanne is completely fine and a good choice especially if you play Wilbert stuff imo. I also read draw 2 and it makes me go feral though lmao.
Oh wait Marlone is the 3 drop not the draw 2 guy Opps.
@@BurnOneSVE Yeah Marlone doesn't contribute to Machina count so it was a somewhat lateral move from a Dragon Warrior to a board wipe. The 2 defense buff from Jeanne also came up in testing since it can sometimes make your board tricky to deal with allowing them to get a few more hits in. If the format weren't so Mono heavy I'd probably stick with Marlone though.
@@geek593 i can totally see that. I'll have to test it out for sure. I'll make some changes ti my list and bring it to locals. Luckily I'll be bringing my camera set up now to locals to start recording matches there. So hopefully get some good matches with it to post up and talk about it post game.
Who has the spicy Haven tech cards for this meta?
While everyone is immediately thinking Fable mixes, I'm thinking Deepwood Anomaly + Sword so you can use that spell that gives a follower Storm. Still a barely working meme but might be the closest Deepwood Anomaly ever gets to land a hit.
I really enjoy gloryfinder with my friends, but the games are long and playing at regionals for stakes takes a lot out of me. Hope to get some evolve points during other future events. I think cross craft brings some fun ideals like combined omens or something like x/ heal dragon.
After playing the Gloryfinder side events at BCS this weekend, I can definitely say Gloryfinder is more of a fun "party" game mode that is best enjoyed with friends. When playing with strangers, it felt kind of strange. Like deciding whose face I hit when I don't know what anyone is playing. But when playing with friends, it was a blast trying to accomplish all of the goals needed to redeem the mono evo points as fast as possible in one game and ganging up on the guy who uses dragon oracle turn 1. I don't think cross craft will be much fun, since the few OP decks will be identified pretty early on (coughfablecough) and everyone will be playing it or its counter.
@@Atelier951 yeah, the multiplayer formsts in all card games feel that way. Playing with friends and just memeing it up and playing politics while having a drink is a ton of fun! Im also on the fable is broken train but it will be interested if they decide to try and make this format more of a real format than a just for fun thing. It will probably have a silly ban list for sure though lmao.
Great news for natura dragon, someone piloted dragon to win BCS Philly. (Though tbf, the 2nd place mono abyss player drew 2 technolords in his starting hand and mulligan'ed into the 3rd technolord and a ginsetsu)
I’m reading the Shikigami Summon spell and I’m a bit confused. When it says I need “7 spells and omyoji cards”, does that mean I need to have at least one of both traits in the cemetery for the effect to work? Or am I good with just 7 non-omyoji spells / 7 omyoji cards?
@@IrrelevantJohn you just need a total of 7 of either spells or omyoji cards. So you could have 3 spells and 4 omyoji followers in grave and it will activate that effect.
awesome video, many thanks. Hey I could not tell / make out what the replacement for Oguri Cap and the carrots were you suggested. Can you tell me here?
It's mostly Forte if you're looking for that swing burst damage similar to what Oguri can give you. I prefer oguri since the potential output is much higher but both will give you about the same results.
@@BurnOneSVE fantastic thank you
Why don't people play Yui Otsuki, it even searches the amulet. Personally though, I prefer the Maisha package as an alternative win con. I don't like oguri, Forte or Genesis is the better option for me.
I haven't hardcore tested other versions. I like how on game plan all of the cards are in this deck. I think the maisha package is fine in basically any natura deck if you feel like it. I haven't tested with Yui and I probably wont really revisit this deck much during this meta other than to play at locals. Did you have a list you like better in mind? I wouldn't mind trying it out at locals sometime soon.
A great video, thank you so much
Best deck
Could you do a deck profile about dragoncraft?, your videos are good.
@@Losvirgos6980 the next video tomorrow is dragon craft haha! Look forward to it. I already uploaded it and set it to release tomorrow morning!
@BurnOneSVE Yeiii
LOVE THIS. Good break down on everything. Your killing it
Do you guys think Natura Sword will be our new BDIF?! I feel it has the tools and power to really be the best deck this format!
I really like the ladica deck but am godawful at thinking multiple turns ahead. My main issues with playing the deck are: 1. I feel like I'm missing the combo pieces necessary most the time and I'm aggressively cutting trees to search for them. But when im pitching, idk if I'm overvaluing cards like avatar or undervaluing cards like ladica/send them packing when i have 2 in hand. 2. In the sword/machina matchups, I feel like I'm often fighting for control of the board and find it very hard to drop setus on turn 5 bc i typically dont have any minions to send to cemetary to proc his self buff. 3. Against control, I find myself kind of floundering in the midgame because they're healing up against any chip damage I do and my ladicas don't stick around more than one turn. Would appreciate any advice anyone can give on playing this deck.
Your first point is one of the reasons I think the deck has a bit of a lower floor than the other tier 1 decks. You have to see Ladica and send them packing usually by turn 6 latest imo. For the 2nd point, I feel like I have way more control of the board especially if they go a bit wide. Send them packing and ladica turns feel so strong. For point 3 I haven't had a ton of mstch ups other than into control abyss so far and it felt pretty solid until they start hitting multiple israfils. A lot of these things you're having trouble with I'm not sure I'd be able to comment much without seeing some matches of you on it. I think each thing you bring up are real concerns but I do believe you might be low rolling some of your games which also feeds into the issue with board control situations. The only thing I would highly recommend is possibly not pushing your trees up early because they sre there to combo for you. Ladica and the 2 drop tree heavily help you to enable easily hitting combo 5. The deck definitely is not easy to get used to and I think minor mistakes can head to late game isssues if you get to 9 or more turns. If you have match videos I could review I'd totally do it. Idk if my insight might be helpful but I think it would be fun!
Yeah, games go well if I see the combo before turn 5/6 but I've had several games where i had one combo piece and that felt winnable if I drew into the other but after burning through trees and not seeing it, it becomes a loss. The worst hands to draw into turn one are the ones where you see two of the same combo pieces that you know you can't keep- keeping it means you've got 2 duds in hand unless you see the other combo piece and mulligan'ing means there's only 1 left somewhere in the middle of your deck.. So maybe it is bad rng. Haven't played too much against mono abyss so I can't say for certain, but they are able to establish wide boards turns 4/5 that feel incredibly dependent on having the combo to answer them. The only ping that this deck has is the blossom spirit, so standing machina followers are pretty hard to get rid of. None of the other early cards are removal and I'm relying on my defensively statted minions to trade into their reserved ones. Combined with abyss's removal, that's why I don't have a board to proc the setus on turn 5. Natura sword is slower, only getting one unit out a turn, but has very strong tempo turns 3-7. Blossom spirit (again) is the main way to deal with bayleon. The ancient elf greatly swings the early game in my favor, but like the mono matchup, I don't have a lot of other removal/trade options. So I'm usually trading my units into theirs to avoid eating too much early face damage. If I had recording equipment, I'd totally take you up on your generous offer, but sadly I don't. I will be at BCS Philly for both days so if you're going to be there day 1, maybe we can practice for day 2 if you have the time to spare.
@@BurnOneSVE Just wanted to follow up after playtesting ladica forest several more times today against variety of decks. Did pretty well against d-shift kuon, straight up lost against control abyss, went even against fairies, and didn't poorly against sword. I felt like I was doing well controlling the board against sword until turn 6 where if I didn't see the Ladica combo, the game was just over because my board was mostly empty and their board had a few units. I mulligan'ed hard for colorful cook, ancient elf, and treant, held my blossom spirit to ping bayleon, but by turn 6 i had nothing to answer their mistolina (had ladica, primordial giant, pathfinder, and hermit in hand and 4 trees in EX. they had a lupin axeman, 2 trees, and desert pathfinder on the field, and a tree and mistolina in the EX). Are games against tempo decks (like fairy) simply unwinnable if you don't see the combo? I think that's the main problem I'm running into with this deck. I'm playing like I will drawing into the other combo piece but it never comes even after going through multiple trees. And forest doesn't have any reliable search tools outside of desert pathfinder. So my question to you is: should I be playing more conservatively and assume I won't be seeing the combo?
@@Atelier951 when I play the deck I play it pretty conservative to maximizemy resources since if you dont see trails and deserts you can fall behind. Some match up you just need the combo on time or it becomes very hard to win them. Personally I think natura sword is bdif but i feel this deck puts up a good fight. I'm planning to record some of the match videos for this format in Japan and talk about them some. Hopefully hitting a lot of forest match ups to see more clean play with the deck. When you play too how often are you swinging with your 1 drop guys and stuff? It's weird but a lot of the time I'll happily pass turn without swinging if I think they cant answer the card if it's reserved. Sometimes you just need the extea swing later to clear something else and not trade it in for early damage. I'm trying to make it to PA this weekend and if I'm able to make it we can meet up and get some games in the night before but it's a 50/50 on if I'm making it now.
@@BurnOneSVE I def agree with needing to see the starters early and the combo pieces on time to win against those matchups, but it's really a struggle when you can't. Those matches are the most frustrating because no matter how well you handle the early game, you don't have the resources afterwards. Like I can turn 6 ladica storm for 6, but I don't think it's a good play if the opponent is keeping their board (especially when sword has mistolina to deal 6 for free). I'd love to see some of your recorded matches, especially ones where you're not able to have the combo pieces by turn 5/6. If I have a cook on 1, I'm usually swinging in with her turn 2 for that 1 chip dmg. I usually want my opponent to hit into cook so I can dig. I don't value very cook very much b/c she doesn't trade favorably into anything with her defensive stat line. Hermit I usually leave reserved, as his recursion potential usually demands an answer (which does happen most the time). Is it even a good idea to play him on 1 to get a tree in the ex? May I ask how you usually play your 2 drops? I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be dropping avatar and treeant on turns 2-3 just to have a body on board. I like treeant b/c he can usually heal a bit, kill a tree, and trade into other 1-2 drops, but losing the tree killing ability hurts later on. Avatar on 3 threatens a turn 4 ladica, but so many decks have 1 cost spells or evolve pings that deal with him. And lastly desert pathfinder- I never play him if I can't proc his ability since he's the few pseudo-search tools this deck has, but if I have no other turn 2 play (IE no 1 drops/bounces), is it worth it just to get a tree? And last question- does this deck want to go first or second? I've been choosing to go first against all matchups whenever I can because I want to out tempo my opponent, but in the cases where I go second, I feel my combos go off a lot smoother b/c I don't have to save an PP for the ladica evo. I hope you can make it to BCS, those mono evo points look very cute! What would be the best way to know if you can make it?
Like this list!
Yeah much better than one I saw earlier
Let me know what spicy tech you might be playing! Really tempted to bring this to a BCS!
❤
Lishenna tier 0 confirmed!!
@@danhtran5088 dont spill the secret
Another thing to note for Dirt is how the 1 cost Machina Golem turns early Ancient Alchemist and Iron Staff Mechanic into threatening plays on earlier turns than the old Alchemist on 8 play. Price of Magic banishes are also very strong against Machina decks.
@@geek593 really good points for the dirt deck!
Shout out to my cat meowing in the background
Ginsetsu for me has often felt like the only option after the first mistrolina in the sword matchup
Man i hate seeing gintetsu in every abyss deck. I hope they make a generic out for her and all the dumb tokens.
@@Atelier951 she's such a generic good card. Cant wait to stop seeing her though.
I've been having a lot of fun with this deck but the first few turns feel so durdly compared to natura sword.
I agree with Robogoblins Last word skill. Wish it was a Repair Mode or Assembly Droid :(
AHA FIRST COMMENT!!!
The last abyss guy definitely cooked imo. iirc Chaht can also search for an Aragavy. So she seems like a very good stabilizing tool in this case. And this is the first time I've seen a control abyss list without any deathbreath or israfil especially during something like BCS where everything seems like a net.
@@AeneaInfina I like the fact it can provide a deck shuffle too when you have to mull a bad hand but want those cards later.
Demonflame Mage really worked well in turn 3 and 4 with field wipe and body against sword and Idolmaster deck in our local. Thanks for reviewing our Regional.
@@houdini5785 was that you? Really cool to hear and thanks for commenting. I personally liked alchemic lore for a cheaper board wipe in my own list and itnworked out well vs those aggro match ups.
The less I have to think about IMAS the better.
Raigeki and monster reborn on a card is crazy, how shes not considered a win condition. Down playing a super accessible and consistent bored wipe resource gain is wild. Also the effect to use repair modes as evolve cost isnt once per turn meaning if u get out 7 repair modes she can evo for free. Yes it is possible. Highly recommend to play test with an open mind you'd be surprised what consistency in a open toolbox can do in this game. Long Live Haven Mains!!!
Extra Truth's Adjudication, just in case one is discarded to cemetery. 41 cards is still consistent enough and I don't want to compromise -1 card
That darn terrorist Lishenna player. But yeah in Vietnam top 8 had 3 cute, all the cool decks got stomped out by all the control decks.
Displacer Bot isn't THAT bad. He's Apostle of Usurpation but for Machina Rune but always gets his value since we're three sets further on. If Machina Rune as a deck sucks he's bad but within the context of a deck that's just okay he's a real role player.
As the guy who cooked that silly Magna Legacy deck that leveraged Shrouded Assassin and Lucifer as two key cards: Troya is strange, came out too late, and is ruined by a quest that will never be completed. They overvalued the bane keyword and severely overestimated how much we want to be filling our GY. If she didn't require traits in the GY she'd be slightly better but I'm just going to pretend that line isn't there because it effectively isn't. We already have a 2 cost 1 evo deal 2 in Miho Kohinata for the turns where 2 effect damage and 3/3 stats actually do something and we have Shrouded Assassin as the all purpose attack to delete button with Bane/Rush AND Assail for the same cost. Assail makes all the difference since it doesn't care about the board state and prevents the "if I untap with this and swing you die" problem that Troya doesn't. She's basically Dragon Warrior but awkward since 2 damage isn't enough to clear Fighters and the Bane rush on turn 4 isn't actually going to have an appreciable difference compared to just being a 4/4. Bane Rush gets better as the game goes on but at that point the 2 damage is literally worthless. The only thing they could have done to make her appreciably better than the tools we had already was to minmax her stats to not die to Surefire Bullet. I should be the target demographic for this card but even I can't justify playing her.
Aria into Cynthia seems like it could be nutty
I think Maisha dying to surefire is a consideration because your 8/9 cost gameplan dying for 2 feels so bad. Very avoidable but definitely need to note it
the day the cards come out is when they are most expensive actually. take Kuon for example. was 20-30 on release dropped to 12 after a week.
I bought my Kuons the day BP06 released, they were only about 15$ each and then after a week or two they became at least 25. Where were you buying from where they were 20-30 on release and 12 later? I buy from TCGplayer.
Depends on the card’s performance/hype from JP.
@@NovaStarlyght TCGplayer. There were maybe 3 sellers that had them at 15 and those lasted maybe a few hours. They were 20-30 for a week or 2. And immediately dropped to 10-12$ after.
@@AshKetchumPokemon there has not been a card previously or in this current set that has more hype then kuon. And kuon actually stays good up to about set 10. Where as natura is mid and falls off when set 8 releases. Which is in only 2 months cause they are shitting this game out for no reason. Hence the decline. Can't be power creeping every two months and maintain a healthy game balance. Most people can't even get all the cards before the next set already comes out. Leads to people skipping over whole sets. Like everyone is doing with Idol. 🤷
@ When BP03 released I also bought Alice for around 12 or 13 on release day, and she also went up to at least 20 the following week. So I really don’t know, I guess it depends on the card? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Yea im with prussia on this one, at least just from reading these cards. Not very high on this deck but we’ll see.
The trait on the 2 drop is that its a 2 drop Its for the 2 mana deck that comes out next set
"We havent seen ways to find A+B combos" literally the 4 drop 2/2 that summons from the deck? TechnoLord search a machina card? Does Prussia even read? /s Reasonable if pessimistic
"Craft defining"
