A more educational dive into magic by presenting the basics, theories and ideas with a side of history and where to go from there.
• I will always credit to the best of my abilities
• Only moves that are "common knowledge"/"public domain" at this point will be taught UNLESS I get explicit permission from the creator
• No clickbait
Once I'm done going through my list of videos, I'll stop posting. The channel will just serve as an archive for common place moves, my touches on them, their history, and further reading. But that's still a few ways away.

Do note that the 'Further Reading' section is not only limited to the move taught in the video, but also related moves that I believe studying will help improve your understanding on the subject matter.

Those are all magic books in the back?
Yessir
theres a better version from marlo
I don't doubt it, just wanted to highlight an effect from the book!
A move that I submitted for Lotus in Hand's "Singles" cardistry competition. It's a move that I made a while back, but never really showed. It honestly just stemmed from the Swing Cut. Since cardists liked to do the Swing Cut so much to build momentum before doing moves, how could I add an opener to that? And it pretty much went from there.
If you want to learn about the story from Dai Vernon himself, and how to do the gimmickless version of this particular effect, you can purchase, the "Vernon Revelations" as a download here: www.vanishingincmagic.com/card-magic-downloads/vernon-revelations-download/#individual-24247 As for ACRs, there's really no better resource than this one: www.vanishingincmagic.com/card-magic/omnibus/ Though, it's currently out of stock, new stock is expected to arrive February 28, 2025, but believe me, it is worth the wait.
Like I mentioned in the beginning of the video, this effect is from "The Royal Road to Card Magic" (1948) by Jean Hugard and Frederick Braue. Funnily enough, this one's a variation of a variation. This one is a variation of the simplified version of the effect that "The Daily Magician" uploaded on their UA-cam channel. The original one had Undercuts, Injogs and all of that stuff, their version removed a number of those things. You can watch and learn their version here: ua-cam.com/video/KxTbrUlANWw/v-deo.html For my handling, I just decided to do everything face-down, mainly because it's pretty rare for me personally to deal things face-up. I tend to deal cards face-down and then turn them face-up. It's just a small nitpick that I have with my own stuff, and it also hides the "work" to some degree. And then the second change was doing the "stop" process at the end with a Spread, mainly because I was tired of seeing "Stop Tricks" done with deals. Also, if you still don't have "The Royal Road to Card Magic", you can get it here: • Physical book: www.penguinmagic.com/p/573 • eBook: www.vanishingincmagic.com/rare-magic-ebooks/the-royal-road-to-card-magic/ • Downloads by R. Paul Wilson: www.vanishingincmagic.com/card-magic/royal-road-to-card-magic-dvd/

Here's a Christmas present for you guys (Well, I was going to release this video anyways, but let's just say it's a Christmas present). uuhh so i just noticed that if u have headphones, you can only hear ur voice from the left headphone.
I think my editing program was exporting my stuff in stereo instead of mono, which I think I fixed later on. Can you let me know if my newer videos also have this issue? Thanks for letting me know!
Holy macaroni this is sick, btw sry for commenting on all ur videos, i think it helps ur channel
Thanks, man, I really appreciate it!
ill use all of these ty alot (exept letting the cards rest cuz i only have 1 deck, hopefully im getting one tommorow, no today but in like the night of today). I enjoyed the video
this is cool o(*^@^*)o
And i came across your video again tonight and they still haven't figured out with as long as they have been making playing cards how to actually get the registration right....unbelievable...lol. Thats why i now more often started buying from creators that dont use USPCC anymore.Did you ever address this forever long issue in a video yet,I remember in my last comment awhile back that you had said you were going to address why this is still an ongoing chronic problem with them.
Yep, I made a video that should be titled, "Why are Brands Moving Away from USPCC?" I think that should be around what you're looking for?
"Parallel" is a Sandwich effect by Brazilian magician Daniel Prado (one of my favourite magicians of all time). This effect from his lecture called "The Illusion of Impossibility" (2017), which used to be hosted on Dan and Dave's old magic company, the Art of Magic. Though, since the company's acquisition, it is now being sold on Vanishing Inc. It's a pretty cool Sandwich effect that happens in an instant. I actually changed the presentation of the effect. Originally, Daniel Prado used a patter that revolved around the multiverse. Here, I decided to use a patter based on the "Mandela Effect", simply because why not? It's fun to deviate from the given patter and try to find something that suits your style more. If you want to learn this effect, you can purchase the lecture here: www.vanishingincmagic.com/card-magic-downloads/the-illusion-of-impossibility/
Smooth 😊

Great Video, Curtis!
2:04 i feel that 😂😂😂
Your first deck looks newer than my current deck
I also toss decks that are missing cards or that have dinged corners into that pile
@curtislee26 man that's expensive. My decks costs way less. About 0.42$ each. Still I use them minimum 3 weeks before switching
Honestly, for my first deck of Bikes, I think I used it for a solid year, I kept extending its lifespan with wax since that was my only deck of Bikes. Nowadays, I rarely have any cards that go into that pile because I just rotate decks around, so they rarely get beaten up to that state
How to make a living from card tricks?
I'm really not the person to ask for when it comes to this, I'm very much so a hobbyist who performs. Caroline Ravn (UA-cam channel), Discourse in Magic (podcast), and even some downloads like Scott Tokar's on Ellusionist, or Kostya Kimlat's At The Table Live Lecture will give you a much better direction. Perform shows and be good at it and after a few you can ask for money
"Antipathy" is one of the effects taught in Christian Engblom's "Anti-Faro" DVD back in 2012. Although, the effect was first published in his notes, "Omerta" (2001). It's an interesting effect by R. Paul Wilson that's more in line with the "Skill Demonstration" category of effects. Although, I wasn't a big fan of the initial set-up to the effect, it was way too over complicated. If you know the effect, you'll know what I'm talking about, but since you're already fidgeting and sorting the cards, why not go directly into the set-up? If you add a cover card, you get to play on the spectators' assumptions regardless. You can learn the Anti-Faro either from my tutorial (that I made with permission from Christian Engblom) or from the Anti-Faro download. Although, you can only learn "Antipathy" from the download: • My video: ua-cam.com/video/SfEEW1nNHFA/v-deo.html • Download: www.vanishingincmagic.com/card-magic-downloads/anti-faro-download
Funny story, I was starting to think about this very topic in the past 2 weeks or so. I was collecting more and I wasn't practicing things like torn and restored cards or mercury folds. I recently just started using a bunch of my old cards to give out my contact information on. Then I created my first homemade arts and crafts gimmick last night. Lo and behold, you put a video up addressing my very thoughts. Don't worry, I talk English good too. LOL Thanks for the thoughts in this video, and have a glorious day!
This is Ken Krenzel's "To Indicate the Future", which was published in "The Card Classics of Ken Krenzel" (1978), which uses a move in the same book called the "Pressure Hideout". This is a pretty interesting effect in how it's presented, keeping the Prediction in the Fan is a...choice for sure, especially because you need to move the Prediction around. It's definitely not something I would want to perform (like most Ken Krenzel routines, I love his sleights though), but it's something I like to keep in the back of my mind as a novel effect. You can get the eBook of "The Card Classics of Ken Krenzel" here: store.conjuringarts.org/product/the-card-classics-of-ken-krenzel-by-harry-lorayne-pdf/

Is oliver trolling or self obsessed or what Why would he or any company who makes deck of cards do such things.
Definitely more of a troll deck, I think, except the price of the deck was definitely not, but for the sake of copium, I'll assume it's a troll deck
You are such a humble person - and then you show off with really rare Tally´s. Subtle. I like that.
Wow that was incredible I have no idea how you did it
any plans for giveaways too?
Not in the near future, waiting for things to start rolling first
A very slight variation on a Paul Cummins' trick by the same name which he published in his book, "FASDIU II" (2002). If you don't know what the term "FASDIU" means, it's an acronym for "From A Shuffled Deck in Use". There's honestly nothing wrong with his original effect, I just find some sleights more comfortable for myself than the ones he used. And that's the thing with magic effects, you don't always have to do them the way they're presented to you, if you find a way to make it more comfortable for yourself without changing the crux of the routine, then why not do it? Unfortunately, due to the passing of Paul Cummins back in 2020, the two volumes of FASDIU are no longer printed (he self-published them). You can, however, still get Paul Cummins-related magic: • Penguin Live Lecture: www.penguinmagic.com/p/8965 • Talk About Tricks: www.vanishingincmagic.com/ebooks/talk-about-tricks-books/
Hi
Hey
Honestly, you can do just whatever Control work you want with a bevel, it's sort of a thing you can apply to most things. Here are just two resources for basic bevel work, more advanced stuff is usually done at the table: • The Card Magic of Lepaul by Paul Lepaul (eBook): www.lybrary.com/the-card-magic-of-lepaul-p-779334.html?affid=53587 • Card College Vol. 3 by Roberto Giobbi: www.vanishingincmagic.com/card-magic/card-college-volumes-1-5/#individual-152 • Gambling Sleight of Hand by Steve Forte (eBook): steveforte.com/products/gambling-sleight-of-hand-forte-years-of-research-digital-edition
Randomly found this video and I just subscribed the moment I saw the belts 😂 But fr i enjoy in-depth tutorials, so definitely looking forward to see more from you!
Thank you very much, i have been struggling for so long with the double lift. This video helped me a lot! 👌
This so good, thank you
Here's the refilmed version of the Strike Double tutorial since the livestream wasn't exactly the best. If you're wondering about the odd upload time, it's because I'm playing catch-up with my schedule. Anyways, if you're interested in the Hit/Strike/Flip-over Double Lift, here are some sources for the move as well as for some other Breakless Multiple Lifts/Turnovers: • Spirit in the Walls Part 1 by Florian Brooks (eBook): payhip.com/b/MAgsw • The Card Magic of Lepaul by Paul Lepaul (eBook): www.lybrary.com/the-card-magic-of-lepaul-p-779334.html?affid=53587 • Stars of Magic by George Starke (Meir Yedid paperback): www.mymagic.com/p/mymagic/stars-of-magic-paperback • The Cardician by Ed Marlo (eBook): www.lybrary.com/the-cardician-p-151296.html?affid=53587 • In Concert: Roger Klause written by Lance Pierce (eBook): www.vanishingincmagic.com/ebooks/roger-klause-in-concert-ebook-download/ • Magic of Ascanio - More Studies of Card Magic by Arturo de Ascanio: www.vanishingincmagic.com/card-magic/the-magic-of-ascanio-book-more-studies-of-card-magic/ • The Card Classics of Ken Krenzel by Harry Lorayne (eBook): store.conjuringarts.org/product/the-card-classics-of-ken-krenzel-by-harry-lorayne-pdf/
Hi Curtis. Was coming to post the similarities to the routine appearing in Marlo without Tears but I see you beat me to it. Love your work. Just bought a card clip but don’t have any cards at the moment so I’m waiting to use it. How well does a card clip do? Does it make cards last longer and prevent warping from humidity?
Honestly, I don't think a card clip really does anything. It'll keep them straight while they're in the box but once you take them out, it really doesn't do much because you just can't beat humidity and the weather.
@@curtislee26 Hey, thanks for your reply.
