The boys talk about having hit songs (at this point Iris had just been released) and watching the movie City of Angels. Johnny tells the interviewer very boldly to “take a girl” I’m pretty sure there’s more to this interview somewhere, but sadly, this is all I have. This is a beautiful performance the Goo Goo’s did for a radio performance in 2010, right before the release of the album. They stripped down and did the entire song with just John and a piano. It’s super heart wrenching and amazing! Download link to come.

Big thanks to @Caspar_17 for sharing this!! This wasn’t during the competition “America’s Got Talent” but it was on the show! Really cool performances by the band in 2010. I randomly found this and I think it’s hilarious! There was obviously some alcohol involved in this, but John presents the TV host of MTV with a green clump of grass?…I can’t help but laugh when he says “It is grass!” This is like a 14 second clip from a longer video but I can’t remember where I got it 😅

I don’t actually know the date of this performance, but it sounds like a 1999 performance (and that was the year this song was released as a single) Another cool find from @Caspar_17 (I posted some things from his collection a couple weeks ago). This was on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and if I could take a guess, I'd say it was relatively soon after it was released as a single in 1998? '99....

“We get to rub elbows with famous people & be disappointed in all of them.” Reminds me of “Hollywood could fall in the ocean man. ‘cause it’s the ugliest place in the whole wide world.” 👈I want to hear On the Lie LIVE! That with String of Lies, try to find them back to back LIVE B, are a dynamic duo. I remember them playing them live during ABNG tour. Sideburns Mike outgoing & happy. His height being an advantage. Sweet Robby all the way in the back ☹️. You’d think he played the tambourine. Even with all that makeup, which I’m not found of bc Johnny’s way too beautiful to begin with, is telling it like it is. Did they win? What was this for? And I’d love to hear the story of what happened unfiltered sitting on Johnny’s porch.
Yeah they did win actually! They won the MTV music video awards for Slide (I’m pretty sure)
🏆Yay! I was thinking that the 1 band he would have loved to hang out with would be The Descendents, but obviously they never achieved that level of fame. They’re wonderful people as well as a legend.
