Your cooking videos are such a JOY to watch! You are so down to earth and it’s like we are cooking with our next door neighbor friend and having so much fun. You have such a great low-pressure “If you make a mistake, it’s no big deal” very easy-going personality, which is needed in kitchens. Can’t wait to make these!

You said 1/4 cup milk but it looks like your measuring cup is full. That doesnt look like its 1/4 cup only.

I'm just learning how to cook my mom's dishes stumbled upon this. I haven't tried it your way yet but in regards to your onion problem i find that cutting onions under the ventilation of the stove that takes out the smoke is on and such doesn't make my eyes water. Maybe it's just me but you should try it if you're not filming a video
My aunt is from the Philippines and, she would make these cakes once in a while! Very yummy!
cleaning the pan to me is a mistake, the meat flavour was important to the onions.

Where were you 5 years ago!! We moved to Hawaii and spent a year trying to copy manila sunsets bibingka. I even went as far as asking my husband's friend whose family owns Manila sunset. I cant wait to try sans the cheese. Something about the cheese they use turns my stomach. I have noticed it tastes very similar to parm cheese.

Hi! Yes, you can however it will alter the taste and texture a bit and will not be as creamy.
Is the total mixing time you mentioned of 15 minutes, include the kneading time??
until it passes the window test. usually around 10 min but it can take longer especially if kneading with hands

Manila sunset is the traditional bibingka, like what you’d get during simbang gabi in pinas. It’s hard to replicate it without access to real galapong. Bingka ambon (martabak too) is the closest similar recipe to Manila sunset bibingka. For years I tried to copy theirs and made my own galapong. Yes, yeast is the best way to get the honeycomb center. I adjusted another (rare) bibingka with yeast recipe, used mamon molds and used more egg yolks. It came out exactly like Manila sunset. Also, valerio’s in sd (Chula Vista) has good similar honey comb bibingka! Great recipe and thanks for sharing! Time to get that pancit malabon recipe or replicate it 😂
If I used Toyo Calamansi, how much would you use in the recipe you posted? 1.5 cup? I wasnt sure you would use the same measurement amount if you combine the soy sauce and calamansi
Hi there, that would all depend on how saucy you want it i.e. how much sauce would be put over the rice? I like my bistek saucy so for this recipe I would do around 1.5 cups 🙂

I broke down crying and kept crying through out your whole video... Because I used to help my mother make the pancit...but because she made such a huge batch of with her e Xtra large wok... I was the one she made stir every together... she passed in 2020..but before then, she rapidly was not there in her decline and I wasn't able to get her recipe for a great many things..but especially her pancit which she made totally different (which is neither wrong or right but just her particular way) years and years on holidays I was made to wake up at ungodly hours to help her with prep etc etc... How I would give the world to smell those scents and be by her side as she directed me in the kitchen as her unwilling helper... Thank you for the video...

I made your recipe with a gluten free flour mix and they are absolutely delicious! I had researched several sites and liked your recipe the best, plus I have all the ingredients available to me here on the Big Island. No longer do I have to be jealous of those store bought crinkle cookies---I like yours better (with my gluten free flour mix, that is). And I used a Kitchenaid mixer for the dough. I felt sorry for you with your hand mixer--please get yourself a Kitchenaid! or any stand mixer you poor girl! Thanks again for the great recipe!!
