Only Breath Science Museum London
In association with Alexandra Carr as Torus Torus Studios I am delighted to showcase the latest project I have been working on. Only Breath is a 5 metre wide kinetic sculpture, it gracefully opens and closes breathing slowly to signify our need to contemplate the roles we all play in climate change, in the carbon cycle. The work sits in the centre of the Energy Revolution Gallery, the latest gallery to open in the prestigious Science Museum in London. Viewers of my channel who appreciate rhino may like to know that the entire project could not have been completed without a deep and constant use of Rhino, but particularly Grasshopper. For more from Torus Torus Studios have a look at the website www.torustorusstudios.com/

Teapot tutorial
Переглядів 8 тис.6 років тому
In this tutorial i cover some basics of surface generation from profile curves: Using loft, revolve and sweep 1 rail as well as filleting, blending and surface analasys. The result is not intended to be a production surface as I only deal with the A surface exterior rather than a full shell.
Transforms - propeller blade
Переглядів 9 тис.7 років тому
This covers some basics of using the transform tools in rhino, scale one dimension, twist, polar array in order to make a simple model of a propeller. Not intended at all to be acurate or areodynamically designed
Heightfield mapping
Переглядів 25 тис.7 років тому
here we take an image and generate a surface with it using the heightfield map tool in rhinocerous, we also make the surface become the top of a closed solid to make it printable

Thank you very much. You have saved my life !
@@Younseo-ld3xh you’re very welcome! Let me know if you need any help with modelling
Thanks for the great tutorial! Had lost many hours trying to change one of the control points into a smooth interpolated point (your circle example), without having to rebuild. Like in Blender you can select a control point and change it's "handle type", or in Plasticity where you can choose G0 G1 G2 G3. Do you know of any way to do that?
nice
The sound is a must!!! "This is your captain speaking, I'd like to welvome everyone on flight number 3 to Rhino, we are expecting to master control points in approximately 15 minutes. Sit back, relax an enjoy the rest of the journey." Seriously, these videos are worth watching several times as it's full of tips, shortcuts and amazing insight from the maker. Thank you so much for these series!!!
just the ticket..nicely explained
Comprehensive tutorial.
Exactly what I needed - thanks for the clear and direct tutorial!
Very helpful! Thank you.
Love <3
this is an awesome tutorial!
Do you know anything about rhino? No! Listen! Thanks very much for the help!
Not sure what you mean, is that a sarcastic comment ? Do you know anything about rhino?
Five years later and this is still the best/only place I've found in weeks of hunting for Rhino Tutorials that shows clear easy to follow introduction for first time users how to begin with Rhino. Thank you so much for doing this video!
been looking for such tutorial, its actually very helpful in order to make your own design rather than getting grasshopper to do the job for you.
how did you turn on this panel with the snaps at 5:30?
i wanna know this, didnt work with ctrl on mac?? what am i doing wrong
What is all the background noise that is interfering with an otherwise good tutorial?
Thanks, just what i needed.
Great fusion of three d'sss - great work and thanks for the tuts on rhino
Thanks Tobias much appreciated
Awesome! Thnx. very easy and fast
Thank you Colin, extremely helpful tutorial. Clear and precise. Will check your others out as well.
amazing cheers
Makes me think of dancing lights or fireflies in a container. Eye candy.
thanks, i like those analogies
Great tutorial! Thank you!
Perfect!
skipped this cause of the bad sound! better reup ;)
Thanks. I've been meaning to do that for a while I've got a much better mic now so will be doing a new series soon. Cheers for the comment though
Thanks sir
nice. would be nice to show the more understandable XYZ rotation/angle based vectors, for the usual CAD user.
My right ear enjoyed this tutorial!
How bizarre it was my left one.....
Just what i was seeking to do to! Thanks for sharing. Do you have the ability to then turn this into a gradient with the end result looking like a topographic map? Say red where the blacks would have been through some colours as you elevate into a say green as the the previous white before height mapping.
Ah Hypsometric tint is the word i was looking for!
Thank you, verry instructive, merci
Henri Di Cristo thanks henri,. Anything else for video tutorials let me know.
So good
Will heightfield map work directly from bump maps or do they need to be converted to jpg first? And... thank-you. This is the information I've been seeking all week.
hi. when you say a bump map do you mean a black and white image that is interpreted by a render package as high and low for the lighting to reflect off. Both bump maps and heightfeld maps are map procedures from an image source. bump is for rendering. but heightfeld results in a surface. perhaps you meant bitmap to which the answer is yes no problem.
Both actually. I couldn't remember in what format the bump maps where stored. But I did want to know about bmp format as well. Thanks much.
could you upload any modeling video similar to a snake, so i can learn how model a snake? I would appreciate!...
thank you very much...
Thank you Colin, great help. Clearly explained which is appreciated.
Thanks John. Haven't uploaded any videos for a while but will be running a new series soon so thanks for your comment. What are you working on? Any questions I'm happy to help.
Hi Colin, Xmas interruption. Various projects really, interiors, furniture, but my main focus is 3D printing jewellery. I took a 6 month break from modelling to focus on funding applications and was amazed at how quickly one disconnects, being what I think is now called a digital immigrant I am at a slight disadvantage and also I was attempting to design new forms. Hope your 2017 is a productive and interesting one. Best regards
yet another great set of tools within this 3d modeling program...thanks for a great demo..
very interesting .. im loving your intro's to the basic's of rhino.. thank you ..
great intro to this amazing 3d software
He didn't introduce anything in 3D
excellent ! thank you for a very informative video of this amazing program called Rhino!! i look forward to your next!!
