First QSO on the Xiegu G90!
Переглядів 1552 місяці тому
Didn't have much time today but was able to get that first QSO on the new portable. Granted, it was 20m ground wave and not super far away but conditions were perking up when I had it leave to go to work. Great radio!
First Day out with the Xiegu G90!
Переглядів 3,2 тис.2 місяці тому
first time testing out the G90. Tuned up a 33' EFHW and an Unun to get a great match on all bands. Heardba few contacts later and eventually made my first, on 20m. See the next video after this one for that. Thank you to @guitodd for the use of his Unun.

Great video the only problem that I see with this idea is if you want / need to have it connected to Sentinel. Keep up the great videos.
Id like to see what it looks like in a car
I have a PL330. Using a resonant vertical for 40 and 20 meters in my backyard, I've never heard anything but birdies and noise on this radio. It picks up FM broadcast stations great, though. My HAM rig picks up tons of stuff on both frequencies and the same antenna. I've never had much luck with DSP or SDR receivers, though.
20 years in army. I saw some winners and losers but some thing like the 330 would have been placed in the top drawer in my kit. I used to carry around a rig it's name was the standard of Japan. The 330 was a change with the digital chip. Runs rings around it. Both are in my stable. 😊
shame its all in the dark good video sir
I use 220 pretty often, in Ohio. Just hooked up 900mhz system tonight, but cannot hit a repeater about 10 miles away. I'll worry about 1.2ghz after I get a 900 contact..
Oh, hey, one of those hams is me! :)
Thank you for the chat! I'm now on this network with a few radios!
@@N7MYW Awesome sauce!
God I love this radio!
This is good
Excellent video
whats better one?
Not a fan of testing and comparing radios on strong signals. A proper comparison is to test on weak signals, which one does the best job? So, a lame comparison...
Love the 991a cover I was thinking of getting one for my ft710 aess
Keep up the Great Videos !!
how well did the comet fit on the sds-100?
I stay in 91 and 3100 lol
Man I'm on a second floor apartment no iron deck though all wood with a metal roof trying to get some kind of antenna to get my ft710 online... I wish I had that metal
Good information I am a newbie and just getting into what equipment I need. I live in an HOA so my needs are stealth
What is this open spot thing you got here
I've got plenty of places around Vancouver, *BC*, where I could play - just I lack players... it is "Pétanque", tho...
Have you ever tested the Comet SMA503J
Now that's impressive. How many miles? I am also in search of the holy grail , the 1.2ghz simplex contact. I have the same radio BTW. 73
I saw you on the 6 meter waterfall, along with all the other local guys.
I bought a trash ft710
How do you program it to listen to different towers?
what freqs ? KK7SiD Milwaukie
The usual airband range of 116-136mhz on am
I cant seem to find the sw ambe
May I have Marys link? W0nlb
Thanks for the video 73 from kb2uew
Nice one! I brought my TYT MDUV380 with me this morning, was able to test it on the Ipswich repeater, though didn't get any contacts. My local repeaters have gone over to Brandmeister from Phoenix, but I haven't got around to changing my codeplug. Hope you have fun at SEAPAC, 73, G0CIQ
Awesome i may get one. I want too many radios , just getting into hf.. 73s
Agree
thanks for the video, I was just researching the Comet W100RX-2 for my R20
You are going to love this radio. I bought one a few months ago and have been using it to activate parks. I can't wait to see more videos with the G90. 73s
Sorry im a new ham and still confused about a lot of this But does the dmr,c4fm and fusions all work together or are they completely different systems Also can you use the c4fm while mobile
Hey, C4FM is the codec Yaesu uses for its System Fusion, think of it like mp3 codec for music, Fusion, DMR and D-Star all use a similar codec but none of them are compatible to the others out of the box but you can use a Hotspot like the Openspot 4 which can „translate“ from one mode to another, maybe look into that. Of course you can use C4FM mobile, provided you and the person you want to talk to both use C4FM compatible Radios, like the FT-5D, FT-70D, FTM-200, FTM-300, FTM-500 and so on…
HF is real radio...., can't beat it with a stick.
Thank you! I 100% agree. Just got one, best value ever. I love digital now!
Suggestion, when capturing video always orientate the camera horizontally (landscape), never orientate it vertical (portrait). Every TV screen, monitor screen, computer screen, movie theater screen, are orientated horizontally not vertical. In videos where the camera is vertical (portrait orientation), then played back on the aforementioned devices the left one-third, and right one-third of the screen is cut off, causing the video to appear as tall and narrow, a confusing stick video,. We humans, maybe all lifeforms, view our surroundings considerably more horizontally than vertically. Holding a cellphone or camera vertically the video produced is similar to looking through a tight vertical keyhole or wearing horse blinders, again not good. In addition, when held vertically, to view the entire scene the camera person must pan more left and right creating too much camera movement; not good. Also, because us humans view our world more horizontally, a video captured vertically becomes spatially disorientating.
Do you have a GPS attached? Does the other station have to? Wondering how it gets the distance.
You can manually enter your lat and long in the menu and if the other station has done likewise then the distance is shown.
Just received the mla 30+. Now to get some PVC for the mast. Thank you for your video. 73
I have few of those antennas. Very narrow tune frequency. Might be good if you work on the same frequency so you can tune antenna to this. Will fail to work from CW to the end of SSB.
I went up to hro and bought doubles of every band of those shark sticks and put the quick couplers on all.
Went a couple years ago. Way too many people for that size room. Wouldn't go again.
Uv6x works great for the marine channels. You say the software is free? Chirp? I bought the software when I bought my radio 12 years ago but have changed to a MacBook so that software doesn’t work for me anymore.
How do you like your G90?
They are good little radios, I've talked all over the world on 20 watts and a wire...and those G90 tuners will tune a coat hanger! VA3IRF, (Nice to see your setup!)
You’re gonna enjoy the G90 and be surprised how good it really is.
Nice radio, nice setup. You're going to enjoy using that setup. Barry, KU3X
I enjoyed the video
I also just got a new-to-me G90...just in time for the bands to be terrible!
