This tutorial will show you how to dye yarn in a single, long gradient. This technique is a lot of fun, and can produce some really amazing results. I apologize about the blurriness in the beginning, the steam was throwing things off! Hopefully you can still get a good idea of the process. If you decided to try it out, I'd love to see what you make! Feel free to post a photo on my Facebook page...

Would this technique work for cotton? I'm allergic to wool.

Wow didn't remember watching this 6 years ago! and love it just as much. Before you unwind it you can give it another go by inserting a syringe into various places in the ball to randomly add a color, then wash again and then unwind. Will give a different dimension. It always turns out as it wants to for the most part, that is dye's gift of surprise! that I love.

Beautiful. Inspiring. Just monitor the transcription. It doesn't quite say what you do.

This technique has been my favourite one too. So far I've always been using acid dyes which do not break as nice as your food colours, so straight away I ordered food colours to try it out. And by the way....the combination of colours you used is stunning and so beautiful. Thanks for sharing :))

Thanks for this tutorial! I'l be trying this with my handspun Leicester White. 💐❤️ I'm wondering how long the food color last, won't they fade? Can this be washed like normal woolen in washing machine?

Jessica, I’ve never tried this type of dying, but I’m going to because you have made it look so easy. I’m looking forward to our groups next dye day. I do have one question about the dye, is it colorfast?
