Proposed Consent Decree to allow Gill Nets in Great Lakes for next 24 years
Переглядів 538Рік тому
The proposed Great Lakes Consent Decree will allow and expand gill nets in the Great Lakes. The proposal is not yet law. It is open to public review and comment. The decree was framed by the parties (Federal Government, State of Michigan and Native American Tribes) under a gag order that lasted 3 years. Last week the proposed decree was finally released by the Federal court for public review an...

While crawler harnesses are still working well, we are starting to see suspended fish in deeper waters 5-10 feet off the bottom. Looks like it might be time to switch from crawler harnesses to body baits to target these suspended fish. Capt. Walleye Tagging on Saginaw Bay
Переглядів 2902 роки тому
Thumbs Up Charter Services recently assisted the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) with their Walleye tagging program. Two MDNR biologists were on board the Little Lady. Walleye that were 18" in size and over were tagged for the study. This tagging program is unique in that it utilizes telemetry, which allows the MDNR scientists to follow the movement of the Walleye throughout the...

The rubber boot is a cable strain relief boot.
nice video on the connector. I have the shakespear antenna however the end section (the top) has been stepped on an has split like 8" can I glue this fiberglass antenna back an expect it to still work? thanks
I have the 22 chieftain I want to have a flip out windshield like on fish/ski vessels then have a flip up hatch above so I can acess the bow from inside cabin. like the life proof vessels are made. what do you think? nice window removal.
I love watching a guy who knows what he is doing, especially when he is good at teaching it ! Big Thumbs Up !
Awesome, I learned something!
Thanks for the video! I wish I would have done the assembly like you did. I followed the directions which came with the tower and I had a problem fitting it. The front of the tower was six inches wider, so I had to use ratchet straps etc. to make it work.
Do you think it’s worth upgrading my boat to hydraulic steering for auto pilot? I have a 1989 Starfire 245.
I am Installing my first antenna and the paper instructions were nothing compared to this. Thanks CPT!
Doesn't look at all like my cable under the wire shielding there is aluminum shielding that is stuck to the dielectric and cannot be removed. Why doesn't mean anyone show this when they build cables?
Good information, thanks. I have Raymarine and would like to install the dash-T unit, but I have questions if you don't mind. If you're manually steering is there any added force over the OEM steering required to steer? When the pilot is engaged is it noisy? When on autopilot and you need to grab the wheel is it instant enough to take control back? Thanks...
Very good illustration of assembling these plugs
Need to do this to my boat. Thanks for the how too.
Good info. I have the S drive at the helm of my houseboat so I added the Garmin reactor 40. It's awesome for cruising long distances
Have you ever been on a Gill net boat before? Do you understand what mesh size is and why there’s regulations on it? You can only catch mature fish in 3.5”-4” mesh gill nets. That’s 4-5 year old fish that have spawned at least 4 times. I feel bad you’re uneducated enough not to understand something that “you don’t like”. Another closed minded old man. Where is your sources for the new decent decree. If you’re holding in your hand talking about it you’re supposed to source it somewhere on this video. I don’t see it anywhere
POOR audio, buried in NOISE. AMATEUR production.
Having real difficulty with securing the caps they don’t seem to want to fit
Just wondering if you are going to put out a video of updates on your Starcraft boat builds, or Mercuiser 165s. Hadn't seen anything for a while. Working on an early '70s Islander myself.
You obviously do not know how many dollars we put into the trout planting program
Wish i had you as a neighbor and friend.
Picked up the same boat in a 1976. Very similar.
doing a 1976 chieftain 25 mark4 this winter.
Thanks that was good
That was excellent….thank you
Thanks, Captain Karl! I can't wait to get out on the bay fishing with you guys.
Seems like a lot of trap nets out there this year
Thanks so much for your video, I installed mine in the ground and lifted it on w 4 friends then did my final drilling. Your way is better, oh well. Was also going to run my wiring through the tubing but your point about future accessability is a perfect reason to run them in plastic expandable conduit. I’d rather conceal them but you have a great point. Thanks again.
MR Cal ., Can u please let me know how to remove antenna with rotary joint of RD 218?
thank you so much for this Video, very informative. I have a twin mercruiser bravo 2 power assited, dual helm boat. It would be very hard to use the octopus type r due to lack of room. but i do have room on the upper helm for the type s stlye. Do you think this style would work on my boat? thank you again
You are a historian and gentleman Manager Karl.
From the wheel real one who isn't incompetent👇🖕👎🖕
Native Americans did not introduce any Salmon into the great lakes. This was all on the game fisherman buying licenses for the money to do so. Before Salmon all that was gill netted was White fish a few others. I want to know who and what destroyed the great lakes fishery?
do you know this for a fact
One things for certain I want Our Native Sons to have first Grab at these type of resources for they have shown a better respect for its value
This is nothing new, gill nets have been allowed for years.
amazing technique I'm waiting for the next video
So glad to see this
What's this? A sharp new shirt!
Came across from AuGres on July2. Straight off Sand Pt. in 19 to 21 feet of water. Used anti-freeze, HiC orange color and Wonder Bread crawler harnesses blades. Landed 20 fish with 5 guys on my boat in about 4 hours. Had a triple and two doubles. Many nice walleyes. Only 3 fish we had to measure. Next day only 4 walleyes and a giant sheephead. Best of of luck and thanks for the fishing reports Capt. Karl.
Question 25 years ago I was doing alot of shipwreck diving out of grindstone city on the way out I would always run past a large group of boats fishing somewhere between 6 or 8 miles out. Is there a reef out that way in lake huron
Mark, if it was to the northeast of Grindstone, if I recall 60 degrees magnetic, then it's a shipwreck. Fished that wreck many times. Good fishing!
Why wasn’t the bow cap stripped of the paint too?!
We did really well Wednesday, the best weather I've seen in a while.. 2 person limit, few 22-23 inchers, rest was 15-20..
That is excellent were you just off of Sebewaing in the slot? Sounds like you had better weather yesterday, we ended up having solid 3 footers and over towards the end of the morning.
Can't wait to go fishing with you guys in a few weeks
Thanks again for a great trip Karl!!!
Great video man!! Some interesting information there!! I also like making fishing videos and really liked your content!! Liked and subscribed!! 🤝🤝
Hi Cole! You are in Ontario? Have you ever fished on Manitoulin Island? Used to venture out that way 30+ years ago. Beautiful place, lots of small inland lakes and great fishing. Liked and subscribed. 2 thumbs up!
I wanna go fishing!
Whoop whoop!!! We’ve been going outside Linwood smoking them they moved out about a mile from our 2 mile marker
It's really good this year. Hoping we don't have a situation like last year where the water temp got way too warm later in the season.
This is the best year of fishing I’ve ever had on the Saginaw Bay/River. Keeping my fingers crossed they stay aggressive. Do you guys do any salmon or steel head fishing?
Glad to see your back
Thanks Mark, wasn't anything bad, just busy, and the weather didn't help getting the boat ready either.
Put the same arch but the jr uni on my proline 210 wa couple weeks back with a furuno drs4w radar. I like the jr better it’s a little shorter and easier for a normal height guy like me 5’9” to reach the rods
Ready for some more of your videos
Wow, I did a quick search because I have to fix my rollers... Nice to see you, nice boat! Beautiful garage sir!! haha
Won't be long and we will have or boats on the bay
Yes we will! After this winter, looking forward to it!
Nothing like saving money 💰!!!
