    Hey, so I have a question: What is this "4 chord string" that is part of the criticism of some Christian music? Could you send a link so I can hear what it is? I'm not skillee in how original MUSIC sounds but I have a little skill in some lyrics from some badly written Christian music.

      @thereconstructionistpodcast thanks! Btw, I wrote a song that talks about how feeling like you don't want Jesus help but it comes from just feeling too overwhelmed by the struggles of life. I wanted to know if it's creative or is it cliche: Jesus, let go of my hand, and let me sink under the waters. The icey wetness is the only dark but comfort I yearn for now. The last wave we went through, it crashed against my face, drowning and chilling all of my senses out of proportion. You want me to walk with you, let me sink further under the sea let it engulf me. Step out in faith? I want to step off a plank. Oh, Jesus, help me. I don't want to die, but I don't want to live at times. How was that? I noticed that one of the clichés to modern Christian music is the utilization of water. I wanted to use that as a way to show that sometimes we Christians just want God to just end it for us because we don't want to go another day suffering, just like Elijah.

      In stepping aside Biden has released the power of the Cross into the situation. I am looking with great anticipation to see how this outworks. There is a small group of us praying for you all. You will jot persuade the MAGA folk of their error. They are trapped in a strong delusion. ( See 2 Thess 2. ) We are praying for them that the Lord will have mercy on them and that He will grant them to know the truth that sets them free. I am Australian. It is not my place to intervene politically but the US has so much impact on the world that we are all affected by what the voters of the US choose. 😮

    • @Netgazum
      @Netgazum 26 днів тому

      Your political wagon should be hitched to Jesus not Trump. Vote for someone who best supports a Christian worldview however there is no need to support a man of political office and proclaim God chose him. It's unnecessary for Christians to associate with powers of mans political systems as you cannot defend them when they differ from God's law's.

    I enjoy listening to Tom and enjoyed your podcast. Is there a difference between this viewpoint and Christian Nationalism espoused by Joel Webbon, Stephen Wolfe and Doug Wilson ?

    • @thereconstructionistpodcast
      @thereconstructionistpodcast Місяць тому

      The big difference is that they see the Church as needing to become the empire, and Tom's viewpoint is that the Church needs to be a prophetic voice to the empires. Our Kingdom isn't the one we live in, and never will be until Jesus returns to judge the empires of the world and establish his new creation. Until then, we are called to be the prophetic voice, giving applause when it's needed, and giving critique when it's needed.

    With reference to the Spurgeon quotes noted below, I posed this question at the Spurgeon Library Conference this Spring. The response illustrates the difficulty we have in speaking to such current 'political' issues (as opposed to past issues) . I'd like feedback on how others see this response. ua-cam.com/video/yn5klg_IC1E/v-deo.html

    It seems to me that John the Baptist, (whom Jesus called the greatest man born among women and likened him to Elijah), set a great example of what a prophetic ministry looks like in politics. Herod was an evil man who did great harm to his enemies and to his nation. John the Baptist did not tell Herod off. He simply told him that having his brother's wife was sin, that it was wrong.

      Martin Luther's quote is a great explanation of the popularity of Donald J. Trump. It's not because he's a godly man in his private life or because he's polished. It's because he has the wisdom to see what needs to be done in situations where evil leaders don't care --- or worse, are doing the wrong thing for their own selfish purposes.
