    How difficult was it to get the reservation permit?

    • @wanderblest
      @wanderblest 23 дні тому

      It was definitely a challenge due to how quickly they go! We had our alarm set for the date/time when the reservation system would go live but I still managed to get distracted and was 2 mins late… so we ended up with August dates when July was our preference.

    Dop netting is different most areas like sunshine creek in Talkeetna aren’t dip net areas the things y’all are seeing only people with Alaskan residence can do and it happens once a year for a short period of time other areas are rather secluded with less people I highly recommend if you come here get a charter boat in Homer Alaska they will set you up guarantee you will catch some huge halibat worst thing that can happen a drape but they are still keepers, the area that the women was dip netting was in Kasilof I highly recommend visiting and fishing in nome during summer you need to take a plane great fishing great time but if you want you can drive to Cantwell north of trapper creek. If y’all are still reading this awesome sorry that I wasn’t making sense in my type it but god bless you and if you wanna visit me I’m in Talkeetna

      Hi 🙋🏼‍♀️ we actually camped in the campground at Brooks Camp - reservations are through recreation.gov and we had to make them at the beginning of the year. If you’re on Facebook, I highly recommend joining one of the Katmai/Brooks Falls groups for more info-I learned SO much that way. Looked like an Awesome trip. Great footage and pictures. What month were you guys there? How many days did you guys stay there? I just got home from Adak , Alaska on my Caribou Hunting Trip. There were 5 of us. 4 of them were experienced Alaskan Hunters. We did a completely DIY hunt. 4 out of 5 of us got a Caribou. We only saw Caribou one time all week. We walked over 50 miles. The day we got our Caribou we covered 17 miles. It was very difficult in my opinion. I loved the experience and got a lot of great pictures and memories from my trip. The hunters who got a water taxi didn’t have it near as difficult. Being they didn’t have to walk but a mile or so. Thanks for sharing your experience and video. Stay Safe!

    Me and my girlfriend plan on going next year. When I try to get permits in January for 2 nights, do I need to do anything extra when checking out since there is 2 of us? I assume one site is ok for 2 people.

    • @wanderblest
      @wanderblest 4 місяці тому

      Great question-the permits are actually per person and not per site! So you do need to get 2 permits. They only allow 60 people per night in the campground, so that’s why it’s one permit per person.

    • @wanderblest
      @wanderblest 4 місяці тому

      Also-make sure you have a recreation.gov account set up before hand and be logged on like 5-10 mins prior to when the permits go live, then make sure you click refresh on the Brooks Camp page rightttt at 8am AK time! They sell out within 2-3 minutes!

That said, I don’t typically struggle with claustrophobia, so the experience could be different for you. Hope that helps!

    What is the area called that you guys set up camp at? And what is the creek called where you caught the grayling?

    Such a neat trip! I would love to know what trails you rode on during the 3 days?
