It was definitely a challenge due to how quickly they go! We had our alarm set for the date/time when the reservation system would go live but I still managed to get distracted and was 2 mins late… so we ended up with August dates when July was our preference.

That is good information-we aren’t dipnetting in this video, we’re snagging and that is open to residents and non-residents

It would be so cool to fly in and see what it’s like during winter!

If you’re on Facebook, I highly recommend joining one of the Katmai/Brooks Falls groups for more info-I learned SO much that way. Great question-the permits are actually per person and not per site! So you do need to get 2 permits. They only allow 60 people per night in the campground, so that’s why it’s one permit per person.

Also-make sure you have a recreation.gov account set up before hand and be logged on like 5-10 mins prior to when the permits go live, then make sure you click refresh on the Brooks Camp page rightttt at 8am AK time! They sell out within 2-3 minutes!

@@wanderblestok, thanks for the tips. We’ve been pretty lucky on getting most of our reservations for the parks so hoping we get lucky in January. We were in Alaska in late June of this year and went to Lake Clark, was an awesome experience being around the bears there. If you never been there, we used Alaska Air Service out of Anchorage for our day trip.

That’s nuts! We’ve been up Alexander creek once (in winter on snow machines in 2022) and I couldn’t believe how many houses there were out there!

The Kenai Peninsula is probably your best bet for that! Depends on the time of summer/fall for which species and then pinpoint a location from there, but in general the peninsula is the best spot 🙌🏼

Hi 🙋🏼‍♀️ we haven’t gone on this trip yet, but I’ve flown on two other bush planes here in Alaska (one Piper, where you sit directly behind the pilot and it’s just the two of you, and also a Beaver, which was multiple rows) and neither felt claustrophobic to me, especially with because so much of the enclosure was glass windows. That said, I don’t typically struggle with claustrophobia, so the experience could be different for you. Hope that helps!

Can’t wait to see your videos and pics. 🤞 Curious on why no fuel is allowed to be taken with. I’ve had to take much larger gas cans, and propane tanks flying into remote places for work.

I’m really not sure why?? I know that you can take fuel with you on fly-out hunts, but the reservations we made were very clear, “all types of fuel are illegal on all passenger flights” 🤷🏼‍♀️

It was awesome! This was mostly all the main trail in Eureka, we went about 30 miles past Monument

It was absolutely worth the price! Super fun trip!
