Halloween run at Ribble Valley Live Steamers (RVLS) - Polly V live steam loco.
This film was taken at the Halloween run at the end of October 2023 at Ribble Valley Live Steamers, Edisford Bridge, Clitheroe, UK.
We carried a good number of passengers - it was a great evening both for the public who came along for a ride, and also for the members of the Club. We all had a really enjoyable time.
The loco shown in the film is a five inch gauge loco, a Polly 5. This loco was constructed between 2010 and 2011, and that build is shown in a (much) earlier video, which is here:

Ribble Valley Live Steamers - 6th September 2020
Переглядів 5483 роки тому
This film was taken at the Edisford Bridge track of Ribble Valley Live Steamers on a Sunday afternoon right at the end of summer. The weather was lovely - sunny and warm, and in consequence we had a good turnout of locos, members, and passengers. It was perfect really - we managed a good mixture of giving rides to the public, with some loco testing and driver training in the mix as well. The fi...

The Polly Owners Group held its autumn rally at the splendid track of Nottingham SMEE at Ruddington. This video shows two laps of the track behind a Polly V 5" gauge live steam loco. Although it threatened rain at first, the afternoon brightened up nicely, and an enjoyable time was had by members of the Polly group and the Nottingham club.
Live Steam Polly V - Plenty of sun, plenty of steam
Переглядів 1746 років тому
This video was taken on a beautiful sunny autumn afternoon in November 2017 at Ribble Valley Live Steamers, Edisford Bridge, Clitheroe. The five Inch gauge Polly V loco was on its last trip out of the year before being put away for the winter. This particular loco was finished to a just about running state in 2013 and run for a couple of years, then left unused to deteriorate. It took three mon...

Polly V Build Diary
Переглядів 39 тис.9 років тому
This film documents the building of a miniature steam locomotive - a five inch gauge Polly V 2-6-0 tank engine. Throughout the build, photographs were taken to record all the steps of the developing locomotive. This was mainly so they would provide a record of the construction details for when it might need repairing. Also, I don't have an engineering background and had never done anything like...
Ribble Valley Live Steamers - Ride on Railways Hercules Trial Run
Переглядів 74510 років тому
This film shows a trial run of a Hercules battery electric loco supplied by Ride On Railways. The loco was built from a kit over the winter of 2013/14 and this is its second test run. The bogies are complete and painted, the chassis and body still need painting and the horns wiring up. The kit was straightforward to build, just a bit of fettling needed to get the bogie components fitting, and p...

Ribble Valley Live Steamers - Polly V - summer 2013
Переглядів 1,3 тис.10 років тому
This film was taken at the track of the Ribble Valley Live Steamers at Edisford Bridge in Clitheroe, Lancashire. A very attractive track running through a copse next to the river Ribble - lots of curves and gradients. Running takes place on Sunday afternoons from Easter to September, subject to the weather, with occasional running on other days. The film was taken from the driving truck behind ...

Can't believe some people build these from a block of metal.. Even in kit form its a very complex machine. Beautiful build and video.

Very pleased to see the refurbished ex-Fylde Society class 20 running again at Edisford Bridge, seeing more of FyldeSME surviving members at RVLS is looking more hopeful this year!!

Sadly the Fylde Society track at Thornton was dismantled in 2020, but the O&K loco seen here is still running at Edisford Bridge which is the interesting home of the Ribble Valley Live Steamers near Clitheroe.

Brilliant have just put my order in. Could you do another one with details of painting i.e what paints you used and did you build it complete then strip it down to paint. What is the 4 wheeled trolley it's sat on looks like it has a handle to lift it up and down like a scissor lift ? loved the music i remember all of it from when I was a very small boy. engine looks beautiful well done.

Hi. I have just exchanged my Polly Caroline for a Polly 5. Unfortunately, the paperwork for the boiler has been misplaced. When revisiting your UA-cam video I noticed that your boiler is marked in the same way as mine. Please can you let me know who built your boiler so that I can make enquiries about mine. Thanks Keith Searle.

Trainman Thanks for that. Thought it was but it looked quite large. Nice loco - it's on the 'possible' list as I need something that will cope with a 10ft radius. Thanks for posting.

Excellent recording great photos and what a fantastic ending well done I hope to build one this year was it tricky was there welding etc to do ?? Nice one and stunning little loco you have !!!!!

    • @trainman3843
      @trainman3843 9 років тому

Thanks. No welding, nor machining with a Polly Engineering loco. Straightforward work with common hand tools, a moderate amount of fettling, and a lot of hours is what it needed. I expected that it would be more difficult than it was, although getting a decent paint finish took much longer than I expected. A steeper learning curve for me than for others, perhaps. Regards, Trainman..
