I wanted to share this clip from David Lean's Brief Encounter (1945). I love this little moment - the lighting, the monologue, the music (Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2) - and I hope you'll enjoy watching it! Full edit of this beautiful movie coming soon :)

“They loved each other, not driven by necessity, by the blaze of passion often falsely ascribed to love. They loved each other because everything around them willed it, the trees and the clouds and the sky over their heads and the earth under their feet.” (Boris Pasternak, Doctor Zhivago) Film: Doctor Zhivago (1965) Music: Strangers in the Night by Frank Sinatra #edit #fanvidfeed #movie

"Newland Archer . . . saw . . . a slim young woman, a little less tall than May Welland, with brown hair growing in close curls about her temples and held in place by a narrow band of diamonds. The suggestion of this headdress, which gave her what was then called a "Josephine look," was carried out in the cut of the dark blue velvet gown rather theatrically caught up under her bosom by a girdle...

I haven't seen it yet, but I will eventually. One of the problems that I have with films about Ludwig is this: it isn't really him! It's just an actor playing him. Example: Ludwig did not have effeminate mannerisms. He acted in a totally masculine way, which is documented by people who actually knew him and spent time with him. I'm not saying that having effeminate mannerisms is negative in any way, but it just isn't accurate. So actors ruin it for me. I want the real Ludwig. Sigh. But in the meantime I'll watch anything about him, lol.
I really like this.
The Nijinsky details are just ✨💕
Where can I find this movie? It doesn't seem to be available anywhere.
I watched this movie in August 2023, it's still the most iconic and sophisticated thing I've ever seen.

Non ho piu' ritrovato "sempre incazzato"
What do you mean?
someone please explain to me the last scene with the music box :(
Oh my, if this is humour...
This that they have made can be considered a RAPE OF A MASTERPIECE. This is not fun, this is not irony, this is not even satirical. It is only an irresponsible outrage of a work of art. It is one of the most marvellous movie of the Maestro Luchino Visconti, and one of the best accomplished and convincing roles of an extraordinary actor as was Helmut Berger, together with other great artists, among which Romy Schneider. This they have done is greatly unfair
Dude I was seventeen when I made this, it's not that deep...
One can see the movie is great, but the subject matter will make it seem melodramatic to many, so we can accept some humor. Terrible American films are mostly action, this film is about art, atmosphere and the limits placed by society. The phrase “gay people walking,” is really about the contrast between action films and an art film like this about an epic tragedy.
@@carlabroderick5508 Guys, please, I love this movie - I think it's a tragic masterpiece. I made this video when I was a kid. Not sure if either of you remember being teenagers, but it's hard to take things seriously when you're young :)

one of my favourite movies! both this and nureyev's movie too!!!
did ludwig kiss his brother
Elisabeth's assassination part had me cackling. Lololol

Uncanny how the actor looks very similar to the real Ludwig, great acting thanks for sharing 😊👌
The made up captions are distracting...just don't post silliness together with serious footages, cheapens your content 😢
Honestly couldn't agree more - I made this a few years ago and it's not the kind of content I enjoy anymore 😬
🔥🥵
A beautiful movie! Somehow I adore the times when a couple love each other so profoundly but still are with proper behaviors.
The man was a genious!
NOT THE "👹HA HA HA! PROSTITUTE"

Trevor Howard really looked the part of Wagner!
Watched few more stuff at your chanel, its so cool that you are interested in russian history!!! I'm 23, russian, but i live in Italy where i basically don't do anything just smoking weed and watching my favorite italian classics , i think we have to become friends
Oh how cool! Glad you're enjoying the videos :)
@@stellasilverscreen if you liked Ludwig and Leopard, you have to watch Visconti's "Conversation Piece" and "The Damned" with Helmut Berger , they are soooo good
@@alexeig127 Yes I've heard they're great!! I also really want to watch Senso but haven't gotten around to it yet
@@stellasilverscreen Senso is good, even tho Visconti didn't make bad films at all (i share your negative attitude about "Death in Venice", but for me personally i just decided that I'm too stupid yet to understand it), but this two i mentioned, they are just absolute peak, together with Ludwig😁
What i've watched in 2023: - All Visconti films - Visconti films with Berger (watched 5 times each) (I'm straight) - Romeo and Juliet (1968) - Ninotchka (1939) - Cléo from 5 to 7 (1962) - Brother Sun, Sister Moon (1972) - ...And God Created Woman (1956) - Accattone (1961) - Zabriskie Point (1970) - Indian Summer (1972) - Gone with the Wind (1939) - War and Peace (1956) And like 30-40 more but i just mentioned the best
I love that Katya's theme plays when Goncharov and Andrew share a cigarrete in the extended version. 2 minutes of pure eye contact and ending with an indirect kiss as Goncharov gives Andrew his cigarrete to finish. Implying that even in her absence, Katya is so present in Goncharov's decisions.
WHY THE FUCK IS THIS FILM NOT ON BLURAY edit: don't break kayfabe
Absolute corruption of the entire intend, weight, and spiritual infusion of the Lohengrin legend. Go back to Pattie LaBelle. But, what do you expect from Globalist.
Where can I stream/watch this movie please? Been looking everywhere and no luck so far 😭
Fake friends are the real enemies. ____ Goncharov
omg What a beautiful tribute. I have always thought how was Francis who killed his own son, since they really hated personal and politically so openly. All what Rudolf said it ended hapening: the war with England, the I WW in 1914, the falling of the austrian absolutist monarchy, a shame that the arrogant emperor didn´t want listen to his son in any moment, and the only thing he had for him as a father even was just insults and the bad concept. The deep hatred of the emperor for Francis started since he imposed his marriage to Sissi, Sissi was a rebeld, a visionary and romantic person just like Rudolph. Francis could submit Rudolf but never to Sissi, who was always travelling, absent. Rudolf was the memory of that Sissi never could to be submit, that her heart didn´t belong to him, it does not matter how many cheesy series they film selling their relationship like Cinderella and the Charming prince, those who love Sissi we know this marriage was a doom for her. Rudolph was like Sissi, and his father killed him, and if he didn´t, then Rudolf took his own life, i almost would preffer this way, at last both died together, Mary & Rudolph. I love Catherine Deneuve, but i don´t like Omar Shariff at all. As actor i dont´find any kind of class in him playing a royal character. But the promo created is awesome, i want watch the movie now.
Was this from The Great Dictator?
The title of the film is in the title of the video!
@@stellasilverscreen The opening of the score I meant.
@@2511dhall It's the prelude to Act I of Lohengrin, an opera by Wagner.
In the great dictator there is a scene where Chaplin plays with the earth balloon, that is when Lohengrin is played (as far as I know)
