Welcome to my UA-cam channel! This space is all about networking and sharing content with fellow artists and musicians, especially those in search of a bassist or collaborators for upcoming projects. I have a deep love for both performing live and spending time in the recording studio, where I get to create something entirely new and help bring an artist's vision to life.
As a session musician, I’m fortunate to work with a diverse range of artists across various genres from around the world. I take on numerous bass-tracking sessions throughout the year and aim to share at least one sample from each session here. I hope you enjoy the tracks as much as I enjoyed creating them!
On the live performance side, I’m currently playing with a '70s tribute band that’s been doing great locally. I’d love for you to catch one of our shows! I also post content from this group often, so be sure to check back for new live performances.
Thanks for stopping by,
Ricardo

Crazy little thing called love. Bass play-along.

A tribute to John Deacon. "Crazy Little Thing Called Love". I was 10 years old when I first heard Queen. I spent another two years trying to figure out who the band was. A store clerk helped me figure it out when I sang to him "Mama Mia let me go!". He said OH! Queen! I bought a few of their albums on the spot and have been hooked ever since.
Bass Tracking with the Mercury 66 Limiting Amplifier #2

I recently acquired an early model Mercury 66 Compressor Limiter. I replaced all the tubes with a matched set from David at Mercury. This is the second sound test with my bass. A Precision-style bass was plugged into a BAE 1028 which runs directly into the Mercury 66. I gain staged the BAE preamp to run hot but clean into the Mercury 66. Compared to my other compressors the Mercury 66 has a lot...

Mike Porcaro the bassist from Toto played on the iconic "MacArthur Park" and "Heaven Knows" by Donna Summer. I spent the evening learning this 18-minute track for an upcoming show. I am playing through the Mercury Studio Limiting Amplifier.

At 18 found the LDS Church, as a gay man. God showed me a Covenant, the United Order. Men sealed to other men or gay marriage. There are records Joseph Smith used this Covenant to have sex with another man. Problem. Brigham Young ended new practice of this Covenant for personal reasons😡 IT IS an awful tragedy the Church has gone so far right away from where God started off Joseph Smith. So i left the LDS Church, though took away some precious pearls. U R STILL a precious pearl gay man to Heavenly Father, Gay Temple Marriage is just over the horizon! Here Comes The Sun ☀ COUNTRY GAY💪 BOYS CAN SURVIVE! ♥️🤠💍🤠🔥 🏳️🌈🎵🍑🙏👏

Hey did you ever get around to trying the Retro Doublewide II? My current favorite vox chain is Soyuz 017 Tube microphone>SH Mono Gama>Retro DW2>Kush Electra EQ>Audioscape LA-2A>Neve 542 I think the Retro is awesome definitely worth checking out. I'll eventually have to check out the Dual Vandergraph because I could not live without my Mono Gama. Thanks for the video!
I did, and I loved the Retro. It made it to the final configuration of my 500 series rack. I will post links here.

Thanks for ruining my life. This Mercury 66 unit is $10,000. I won’t rest until I get one.
I started with the Mercury 666 and loved it. Then, I had the opportunity to buy the 66. I was hoping I wouldn't like it due to the cost, but it sounded even better than the 666, so I can relate to your post. 😁
@@ManCaveStudio Thanks for sharing. If I had this Mercury 66 leveling amplifier, I would record every single track or at least reamp every track through it. I have an original, vintage 1064 Neve Mic pre-EQ unit that was taken off of Neve console. That damn thing sounds so good, I run every single instrument or track through it. It instantly sounds like a record. I can only imagine what a tandem combo of this Neve with the mercury 66 would sound like! I was saving my pennies for the curve bender but now I’m thinking I should just get the 66 for now. I love your demos by the way. Great playing! The first video I saw was you comparing all those pres and compressors in the 500 series. The reason I came across you is because I was looking into the 500pre to add tube color. I was also thinking about cool audio stuff, too. But now the OCD is in full swing and Mercury is the planet for me. I went to their site and see they make all Kinda of stuff. I’m surprised I don’t see More talk About their stuff on gearslutz. It’s probable too expensive so few have the experience. Anyway, I rambled enough. Thanks again!
@@onethousandtwonortheast8848 I don’t mind the rambling 😊 One thing to note, when I decided to purchase the 66, I did some research on the different versions. I learned the first batches were all hand-wired point to point. As I was looking for one to buy, I found a very low serial number point-to-point model and purchased that. The 500 series sounds amazing considering how much tech they jam into the small casing, however the 40lb 10 tube Mercury 66 is on a different planet. After I heard it, it was game over for me. The Neve compliments it well. Both the Neve and Mercury add a nice weight to the sound which in my book is perfect for bass. I envy that Neve you have. I want to purchase a Mercury EQ at some point. I've heard many good things about them, as for the 500 series. The sound vs portability is hard to beat.
@ I agree with you that that Mercury 66 you have is definitely on a different planet. It makes everything else sound unprofessional. So in your opinion, some of the EQ units that Mercury makes for the 500 series, those are worth testing out? Are they tube based?
Can you do one for vocals pls, Great video
The pits.... miss ya brother!!!
Likewise, my friend!
Thx for sharing. I'm thinking of buying the Great River np500mp mic preamp. Great river or Neve 511 mic preamp. Let me know your opinion. Thx Also, I like the LA2A style compressor for vocals that's mainly what I will using for. Which 500 series do you suggest. Thx
I've never had the Neve 511, so I can comment on that; however, the Great River is an excellent pre-amp. Now, Comparing the Great River to the BAE (Neve) 1023L, I prefer the versatile BAE. I've tried the LA2A, which was a bit slow. I would say the IGS Audio One LA would be your best choice in the LA2A 500 series camp. In my use, the IGS didn't make the cut. But take that with a grain of salt since I am not a fan of the LA2A.
@@ManCaveStudio thx
Loved this track...thanks for singing it.
And some say "500 series gear isnt as good as 19" rack gear"?? This sounds phat!🔥
Thank you :)
good. exellent sound, nice cartridge!
