    Unfortunately water is a powerful force. I don't care what you build. How high or Strong the structure is supposed to be. Water is undefeated. Eventually water will find it's way threw. The fact of the matter is. New Orleans expansion an growth was the cause. You can't mess with the natural order of the world. I've watched may experts say. A lot of the places such as lake view should've never been develop period.

    I've been a chef/cook in this city for 5-years, ten years before that outside of NOLA. Can't say much about this, other that what an aggrandizing piece of work it is. With exception for Leah Chase, the chefs here do an amazing job of playing the sympathy&passion card before the camera--what a way to solicit business--while bilking their workforce to line their pockets behind. Funny & sad to watch, if you know. . .

    President Bush was NOT allowed to pre-empt the (dereliction of duty) efforts of useless Mayor Nagin and dip shit Governor Blanco. Also, by the time those morons 'allowed' the feds to help, it was impossible to get supplies, etc. to desperate residents there because of conditions and impassable roads. Those dummies were warned about Katrina's severity and went into a massive 'dithering' mode.

  • @OrochiGeese7
    @OrochiGeese7 14 років тому

    @azurien27 Actually, there are reports that state that the Army Corps did come down to NO three years before the hurricane hit and they came with supplies that would fortify the Levees and when the hurricane would hit, the levees would have held up long enough to control and isolated a great part of the flooding, thus making medical aid and damage control easier to manage. The state gov't denied them for the sake of keeping them from "interfering" with state legislature. Incompetence FTW.

    A lot has occurred since this was filmed in 2006. Civic services are functioning such as mail and garbage. I have to guess, but about 45% or more have rebuilt, or have sold to someone else who has rebuilt. Some homes have been raised up some more than others. It's clean. Some streets are being reworked even as I write this note. Other homes, just sit..decaying..or there are empty lots. Birds, bugs and rodents are back.

    Excellent video. I flew to New Orleans from Birmingham, Alabama and saw the horror for myself. Although a fair few areas are fully up and running again (especially the CBD) other areas such as The Lower 9th Wars still need a lot of work on them. The debris might have all been cleard, but the reconstruction will tale at leather another 10 - 15 Yeats until it returns to normal. But I must say, New Orleans is one of the most amazing cities I've ever come across.

    Get your head out of your ass, doc. You may not like my politics, but I don`t like the policys that failed the people of this wonderful city. Blaming GWB is just a cop-out. The real blame belongs to those state and local legislators whose desire for "fairness" over-rode the need to build the levies properly in the first place. The next katrina may only be months away. Then who will you blame?..Obama?..I think probably not...BTW, I notice that you didn`t challenge any of my points..Peace

    I've worked with Louis in his bookstore(Grass Roots Afro-American Bookstore) on (Old Dryades) Oretha C. Haley Blvd. in the early 70s. I also rented one on his houses located next to the "Center" on Washington and Derbigny Streets. It's true, He DID work as a landscaper and use his profits to purchase numerous properties in the Broadmoor section ot New Orleans. I'm now living in Houston, Tx. now but planning to travel back and forth to N.O. to help the Brother out. BELIEVE ME, HE'S DEDICATED !

    I recently spent a few days on my first trip to New Orleans. I spent more money than I could afford in that economy and had a wonderful experience. On the way home I spent a couple of hours driving through Lakeview. Left town in a very somber and sad frame of ming. God Bless all of those people - 45% of whom have not returned.

    The wheels for this disaster were set into motion long before GWB was president. The levies, improperly built in the 60`s and 70`s, can hardly be blamed on Bush. Instead, you should blame local and state politicians whose liberal policys favoring minorities virtually assured that this would someday happen. New Orleans has been run by democrats for decades. So, unless your familiar with the local history of this area, keep your political opinions to yourself. This catastrophe was predictable!...
