If you ever do a sequle to this video, you should check out the mods available for the Adventure era games. Obviously there are render fix mods and patches for SA1/2/Heroes. The lantern engine for SA1. The recent input fix for analog sensitivity mod for SA2. But those stay within the original confines. What about the ones that alter gameplay? Some of my favorites SA2 ones are the Character Select mod, along with the expanded move sets for Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Super Sonic/Shadow. Better Radar for emerald hunting. But my favorite is the Chao Partner mod, allowing you to take your chao with you into levels. Close second would be the idle chatter mod, getting to listen to all these voice lines I'd otherwise ignore. Then there are other projects like Shadow the Hedgehog Reloaded that aim to rebalance and improve the base experience.

I never played the original Sonic 06 game because I've never had any of the consoles that it was made for and because I didn't even know that it existed until I (in one of these recent years) found out about it by having access to the internet on a portable device. I have been planning to later this year get a laptop PC that will be officially my own one, and one of the main things that I want to do after I get it is to download that P-06 remake from Chaos X onto it. I've watched an amount of positive reviews about that remake so because of that and some other reasons I'm 100% convinced to give it a try. Some UA-camr reported that the final release could become available either sometime later this year or early next year. That final release won't have the story mode and the hub-worlds in it, but that person did say that some other people might try to make mods of those parts so that it can be completed.

I think those control issues you mentioned with the 8 directions and no Dpad for 2D areas might just be a PC version issue, oddly enough, I think I've heard about that before. I just loaded up the free demo of the Switch version on my Switch and tested that and movement was not limited to 8 directions there, I had full directional control (albeit Sonic's movement was still stiff because this is Forces we're talking about, but it didn't have a limit on directions), and also the Dpad on the Pro Controller also registered just fine for movement in addition to the analog stick, 2D areas included. So it seems they just neglected controllers for the PC version of Forces for some bizarre reason.

I love these games, definitely had the best art direction, I feel. But yes, X1 is the best one. X2 is not bad, X3 feels like it had a lot of Beta features that had a lot of good ideas, but kind of unfulfilling execution. Like, the Ride armors were a good idea, but it was a bit undercooked for the sections you could use them in. And the boss weapons being less and less useful kinda sucks. The upgrades were just better and better, except the helmet. They really didn't seem to figure out what to do with the helmet upgrades, cause the X1 use was already really niche and X2 and X3's were awful at best of times.

If you want a good art game experience, I suggest Magic Pengel, Graffiti Kingdom's even more obscure sister title. It feels weirdly like Gen 7 of Pokemon with the whole chill island vibe, but if it were made by weebs who preferred simple battle systems. It definitely gets Ps2 weird sometimes

As somebody who exclusively plays on PC - completely unrelatable issue for me. But good video and great points, the delivery is at the right speed, but can take a bit more pause in between. That said as somebody who only seriously got into dmc with dmc5, playing as vergil is one of the highlights of my action gaming experience - the judgement cut end, the first time you pull it off is worth the wait and grinding for the red crystals.

Sonic Heroes is a D Grade essay with loads of run of sentences and repetative points that reek of trying to hit a word count, but still manages to make you giggle through the grammar and spelling errors. Not to mention its written by the stressed out artistic kid who draw some awesome frogs and robots in margines.
