#4 How to diet for Happiness
Переглядів 18День тому
I talk about what worked for me, how diet is the source of happy chemicals, how to fell less tired, why eating sugar is ok, and more.
#3 Diet Sleep and Exercise
Переглядів 7Місяць тому
This video doesn't go into much detail about any of the three, instead I try to explain why the trio is so important. Hang in there while I get my editing figured out, the mic was a little loud so it sounds funny and I desperately need a side card on the video to keep track of all of my erratic points. Ill put the note I made bellow this which has links to studies and whatnot.

If your looking to be happy, eastern philosophy suggests you already have all that you need! Perhaps enlightenment is for you but its not my cup of tea. #enlightenment #philosophy #easternphilosophy #happiness
#1 What is the meaning of life?
Переглядів 532 місяці тому
I discuss what I believe to be the meaning of life. Spoiler alert, I think Camus got it right. There is no meaning to life, but we still have desires. What are desires? Desires are essentially things that evolution has programed us to want by rewarding/punishing us with certain neuro-chemicals. How exactly do we maximize the amount of our lives in a positive brain state? Well that is the questi...
#0 The Plan For This Channel

I want to discover what ingredients make up a happy life, this channel and the videos to come are my attempt to do just that. As to not just repeat what everyone else is saying, I plan to emphasize the 80/20 rules for each subject I talk about

I was kinda moody in this video, partly because I was sad to leave home, partly because I was scared of the unknown in Texas and VERY much to do with 0 sleep and 30 hours of driving in a 40 foot truck for 2 days. Its kinda hard to follow because I was not stellar about recording periodically (to stay on brand of course) so here's a little synopsis. We packed all the stuff in my house in Santa C...
Philosophy 4

Yet another barely edited ramble from your boy. Hedonic adaptation has been on my mind alot recently, the future always looks so exciting yet feels so normal and mundane when it becomes the present. Im realizing this is not because Im not making exciting enough life choices but because no matter how exciting positive a life change you make, you will always become used to it. That is hedonic ada...
True success (plus a sappy van life edit)
Переглядів 197 місяців тому
When I started van life, Im ashamed to admit that a good chunk of the reason why I wanted to do it was to look cool and adventurous and show off how well traveled I was. The other half of it was a genuine desire for exploration, I really wanted to experience all the wonderful things In the world. While I did see some cool things along the way, I ended up discovering alot more about whats import...
Philosophy 3

Basic gist of the video: If anything matters its minimizing suffering and maximizing happiness, but truly, not even that matters. Nothing does, and thats kind of peaceful. Didn't really feel like editing this one honestly, perhaps i felt like editing it didn't matter (haha). My model of the world has been 'ultimately everyone only cares about being happy and everything else is an intermediary' ...

Skip to 11:00 to For the Christianity section This one is about my thoughts on weather or not there is any God irrespective of religion and then specifically what i think about the christian God and religious beliefs. I was heavily inspired by many sources on these topics and i will link some of them bellow if you want to see much better articulation of the points I make. I said it at the begin...

You should put profitable keywords in your video tag to increase views and subscriber
I disagree, with all due respect. I liked your video though and your thoughts.
0:02 this guy's got a microphone now
I disagree with the premise that happiness is the "goal" of our life, but nonetheless I am excited for more videos
I feel like there is no goal to life. Life just exists
@@roman.peschke No outside objective goal sure, but you can take the position, that being happy is some form of goal, if being happy is inherently better than not being happy
I agree with Orcafon.
@@chrisisdunn then you agree with me, read the first sentence
Awesome!
full --> empty uhaul transition was so clean omg
just recommendations on some books to read based on what i heard that i think might help -The Myth of Sisyphus Book by Albert Camus -One Swallow Does Not Make a Summer Book by Aristotle also havent watched any of your stuff recently are you still trying to go vegan?
"I am a strange loop" by D. Hofstadter
Hawk tuah...😂
Very interesting thoughts ❤😍
Loved this video so much! I left the church 3 years ago and now I feel like I am born again. Being a Christian literally destroyed my mental health and made me professional in mental gymnastics lol😂 I was shocked when I saw how many views you have. You deserve so much more! Amazing video! Keep going!
"What, if some day or night a demon were to steal after you into your loneliest loneliness and say to you: 'This life as you now live it and have lived it, you will have to live once more and innumerable times more; and there will be nothing new in it, but every pain and every joy and every thought and sigh and everything unutterably small or great in your life will have to return to you, all in the same succession and sequence-even this spider and this moonlight between the trees, and even this moment and I myself. The eternal hourglass of existence is turned upside down again and again, and you with it, speck of dust!' "Would you not throw yourself down and gnash your teeth and curse the demon who spoke thus? Or have you once experienced a tremendous moment when you would have answered him: 'You are a god and never have I heard anything more divine.' If this thought gained possession of you, it would change you as you are or perhaps crush you. The question in each and every thing, 'Do you desire this once more and innumerable times more?' would lie upon your actions as the greatest weight. Or how well disposed would you have to become to yourself and to life?"
um. Is this a question? are you asking if id be upset if I had to relive my life an infinite amount of times? Yes, I don't wish to exist for eternity that sounds a bit daunting
no its a passage from a book (the gay science) by fredrick nietichze @@chrisisdunn btw here are probably some useful recourses (ua-cam.com/play/PL7YPshZMeLIazts4sq6UQ2kpjsUxhHaBd.html) ethics (fitelson.org/proseminar/gettier.pdf) knowledge (plato.stanford.edu/entries/atheism-agnosticism/) about the way atheism is defined in the field
also interesting response nitchze or at least my understanding of this whole thought experiment is if you say no then you are not actually "living" or living the good life nitchze believes the good life entails amor fati (love of ones fate)@@chrisisdunn
Left ear loved this
I commend you for searching and grappling with the truth and I implore you to relentlessly keep going deeper. You have many ideas flowing, and when these ideas are embodied, they may change your perception of them. In my own journey, not too dissimilar to yours, I've contended with many religions, practices, and philosophies and have tried different lifestyles including hedonsim, asceticism, health maxxing, urban, rural, etc..... Anyways my journey led me to Orthodox Christianity and, if I dare make a suggestion, I would recommend visiting an Orthodox Church or two. Prayer can't hurt as well. God bless you and keep it up!
