However, there is no doubt that there were over 1000 books considered holy at the time of the Bibles "compilation" that were discarded. You have to believe without evidence that those new testament accounts are factual without hard evidence that they happened. That being said, as a former believer turned atheist, I know from experience that it is far better to believe even if it is false, than it is to be an atheist with zero hope for the future. A reality without god is a reality of darkness (lacking of hope) where you know you'll die and fade away like dust in the wind and so will everyone you love and care about... Nihilism.
