Monasticism: Too Big for Words (Part 9)
Although technically not considered one of the Holy Mysteries, monastic tonsure clearly has a sacramental character. Known in Eastern Orthodoxy as "the angelic life," the presence of monks and nuns is considered a spiritual barometer for a Church.

Things Unexpected and the Will of God
Amen 🙏 🙏 🙏
Lately, People have been talking about when the Jews stopped sacrificing animals to God. I found it fascinating that it coincided with the timing of Jesus' crucifixion. As is Jesus, John the Baptist is so relevant to Christians. Funny how the Koran only mentions John as being the "son" of Zachariah, but never mention his mother Elizabeth being the virgin Mary's first cousin! Islam buries ties to Women.
This one was helpful - thank you
It was far better for the HOLY SPIRIT (HELPER) and John the Baptist, two witnesses of one body, to be assistants to the HIGH PRIEST of the order of MELCHIZEDEK CHRIST rather than to be of a post Davidic Kingdom Levitical Priesthood of doctrines of men divisions like the pharisees and sadducees that failed to advance the Kingdom. For those who have eyes to see and ears to hear the ministry of the HOLY SPIRIT and John the Baptist continued in the Bosom of Abraham as they prepared the way with a message in Sheol that the MESSIAH was coming as a ransom for many old testament saints even before the precious Blood of the LAMB of GOD returned to the FATHER for CHRIST descended before HE ascended to the mercy seat in the Temple in Heaven made by no man's hands. The Law (Immortal Moses), the Prophets (Immortal Elijah), YESHUA the only MESSIAH the Great KING of kings and LORD of lords CHRIST who is ETERNAL LIFE, & the Second Spiritual Death (The Fowler) who is also Eternal are in agreement just as the last enemy to be defeated is the angel of the first physical death and even the deceiver of the nations shall be baptized into the Lake of Fire at the appointed time. Remember that the two witnesses of the Book of the Revelation of CHRIST shall also descend before they ascend just as the evil one will be bound for a thousand years prior to the coming Millennial Reign of CHRIST. Love the HOLY SPIRIT and Jason the Baptist of the Bible Belt a New Covenant Kingdom friend of the GROOM CHRIST. Shalom.
Does this tie with suffering the reproach of Christ outside the gate / Ecumenical church ?
Thank you Fr.!
God gave His only son...what creature are you talking about?
God created human beings in his image and likeness to be the stewards of creation. It was only after we abdicated our stewardship role through sin that God sent his Son to save us. Part of that saving ministry was restoring us to our original roles of king, priest, and prophet of creation through fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ.
Wow.... I never thought about it! Thank You father for the enlightening ❤️❤️❤️🙏
I Tim 2:5For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
You are interpreting incorrectly. Jesus is not God. John is the forerunner of Jesus, and since Jesus represents God, John is forerunner for both Jesus and God. You cannot violate all the simple plain texts that teach Jesus is a divinely anointed man. Divine does not mean = God. All believers are divine!! JESUS SAID: - Do not touch me, for I have not yet gone up to the Father. But go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am going up to my Father and your Father, and my God and your God.’ John 20:17 - My Father is the only true God. John 17:3 - My Father is greater than all. John 10:29 - My Father is greater than I. John 14:28 - I can do nothing on my own. John 5:30 - I speak my Father's words, not my own words. John 7:14; John 14:10; John 14:24; John 12:49-50; John 17:16-17 - My teaching is from my Father. John 7:16; John 12:49-50 - My Father told me what to speak. John 12:49-50 - Believe in God, believe also in me. John 14:1 - The Father living in me does his works. John 14:10 - Believe I am the messiah or die in your sins. John 8:24 - My Father is in Heaven. Matthew 16:17 (Jesus said this when he was on earth). - He did not know everything. Mark 13:32 - I am a man who has told you the truth I heard from God. John 8:40 - I am the Messiah. John 4:25:26; Jn 8:58; - I am God's Son. John 10:36 - Not my will but your will be done. Luke 22:42 - The Father gave him life in himself. John 5:26. - He was not given the authority to decide who sits on his right or left. (That authority was the Father's alone). Matthew 20:23 - Jesus said he has a God 4 times in Revelation 3:12 - Whoever believes in Me does not believe in Me only, but in the One who sent Me. John 12:44 Believe in both YHWH and Jesus is required for salvation. - It is written: 'Worship the Lord your God and serve him ONLY.'" Luke 4:8 - the Father who sent me testifies about me. John 8:18 - Jesus spent a whole night praying TO God. (not to himself) Luke 6:12 - Why do you call me good? No one is good, except God alone. Mark 10:18 - From the beginning of creation He (YHWH) made them male and female. Mark 10:6. (Jesus did say he made anything in the beginning). - Let not your heart be troubled, believe in God, believe also in me. John 14:1 - Look at my hands and my feet, and see that it is I myself. Handle me, and see, because a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you can see that I have. Luke 24:39 Compare with John stating God is a spirit (John 4:24). - I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine keeper. John 15:1 Peter said Jesus is a man. Acts 2:22 Peter said God did many signs and wonders THROUGH Jesus. Acts 2:22 Peter said Jesus was crucified according to God's plan and foreknowledge. Acts 2:23; also see Revelation 13:8. Peter said "God raised Jesus from the dead." Acts 2:24; Acts 2:32; Acts 10:40; Paul states the same in Romans 10:9. Peter said: "God made Jesus both Lord and Christ [savior]." Acts 2:36 Peter said to Jesus: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Matthew 16:16 Peter says: "God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy spirit and with power." Acts 10:38. If Jesus is God did God anoint himself? Luke states: Stephen saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. Acts 7:55 God wasn't standing beside himself. Luke states Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man. Luke 2:52 Luke tells us Christ means savior. Luke 2:11 Luke writes in Acts 13:30 that Paul said: "God raised Jesus from the dead." John states: the Father (YHWH) gave the Son (Jesus) to be savior of the world. 1 John 4:14; John states: The Samaritans declare Jesus is Savior of the world. John 4:42 John states: “these are written so that you may come to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that through believing you may have life in his name.” John 20.31. John states: "Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God." John 4:15 John states: “Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God” (1 John 5.1). John states that God (YHWH) gave His ONLY BEGOTTEN Son (Jesus) that whosoever believes in him will not perish. John 3:16 John also states that those who do not believe in God's one and only Son are condemned already. John 3:18 You cannot claim Jesus is God without denying he is the Son of God. A Son cannot be his own Father. John 11:27 tells us that Martha said she believed Jesus is the Messiah and Son of God.(the same thing Peter stated in Matthew 16:16) Paul States: - "God has brought to Israel a Savior, Jesus." Acts 13:23 - "There is One God and Father of all." Ephesians 4: 4-6 - "The head of Christ is God." 1 Corinthians 11:3 - "God raised Jesus from the dead." (Romans 10.9). - "Salvation is the gift of God (YHWH)" Ephesians 2:8-9 - "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and mankind, a man, Christ Jesus, ..." 1 Timothy 2:5 - "For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more surely, having been reconciled, we will be saved by his life" (Romans 5:10). REV Bible - "Through the obedience of the one MAN (Jesus) the many will be made righteous." Romans 5:19 - "Christ Jesus was raised out from among the dead through the glory of the Father" Romans 6:4; - "Moreover, if the spirit of him who raised Jesus out from among the dead lives in you, He (YHWH) who raised Christ Jesus out from among the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His (YHWH's) spirit that dwells in you." Romans 8:11 - "Paul, an apostle (not sent from any group of people, nor through any person, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him out from among the dead),..." Galatians 1:1 - "There is only one God the Father." 1 Corinthians 8:6 - "Paul states God (YHWH) alone is immortal." 1 Timothy 6:16. - "...when all things have been subjected to him [Jesus], then the Son will subject himself to Him[YHWH] who subjected all things to him, so that God [YHWH] is all in all." - The Book of Hebrews states to a Jewish congregation: Jesus is our Apostle and high priest; faithful to the God who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful. Hebrews 3:1-2 - Matthew writes: "and Look!, a voice came out of heaven, saying, “This is my Son, the beloved, in whom I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:17 The voice that came out of heaven is the Father's voice. The beloved Son is Jesus. God was not talking about himself. - Mark states: "...and a voice came out of the heavens, “You are my Son, the beloved, in you I am well pleased.” Mark 1:11 God wasn't talking to himself. - Revelation: God gave Jesus a revelation which Jesus gave to an Angel, and which the Angel gave to John. Revelation 1:1. God did not give a message to himself.
Adam eve sinned.like today if I get a virus I spread it now all in my family have it . I heard once so true if it wasn't Adam Eve and it was me or anyone else in garden we would've done same thing
Hi Fr. Jarmus. I was wondering if you knew what happened to Scott Klaus over at Zootown Church. I noticed he seems to have disappeared from their UA-cam feed?
He left ZooTown. He's now an Orthodox catechumen.
@ How wonderful - thank you for the reply!! I will keep him in my prayers.
No. Sacred scripture the Word of God is revealed from God to the Church of Christ. The authority of scripture comes from God alone binding the conscience of believers in practice and faith according to truth for a renewed mind and heart. Where there’s deviation from any points of the Bible such as narrative and doctrine or any contradiction the Church must reevaluate and submit to the authority of God and its truth claims.
Yes. It is revealed to the Church. The Church is the pillar and ground of the Truth, and by the grace of the Holy Spirit she has the authority to declare, articulate, and defend that Truth.
it blows my mind that Protestants think they don't adhere to doctrine. they think church doctrine is something explicitly reserved for Catholics and Orthodox but not for the Protestant. no no no. how silly.
@@fr.ajarmusAmen and amen Father
This video has been incredibly helpful in understanding why the place of Mary in the Orthodox Church is so prominent. It has cleared up many of my fears and reservations as an inquiring Protestant. Thank you father!
Can I be forgiven of willful sin and saved according to Hebrews 10:26-27 if I repent?
Yes. Forgiveness will be given to all who ask for it with a sincere heart.
Thank you Father Andrew. This was a nice little recap for today's Bible study.
Thanks for listening
❤ God bless you sir
Jesus didn't wear a fancy outfit. Why do you wear it?
Orthodox shahada has a video called "Christian worship and the old testament" check that out.
@@Desertfox-o2x Thanks. I will do that.
Actually, there is a point in the Gospels when Jesus wore a magnificent outfit. “Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John, and led them up on a high mountain apart by themselves; and He was transfigured before them. His clothes became shining, exceedingly white, like snow, such as no launderer on earth can whiten them.” (Mark 9:2-3)
@@fr.ajarmus Ok.....a bit of a stretch if you ask me. But no one is asking me. 🙂 Thanks for the reply. 👍
so sad for you
What do you mean?
If that’s true then why not Keep the Ten Commandments as they are not done away with?
They are kept
@ The true Ten or the modified one?
@godloves9163 the list of the ten commandments wasn't modified
@@LSSD1292 Yes is was read Exodus 20:2-17 you’ll see
@godloves9163 i read it. It says that the plates were written anew after they were destroyed. Nowhere it is said that the list of the commandments has changed

It really is a beautiful place to learn! I am so happy I was pointed in this direction!
This was so good for me, a recent convert from protestantism. Please do more of these in-depth bible studies. ❤
Magnificent talk Father. Glory be to God.
I firmly believe that we make ourselves sick. We eat too much, we eat foods that hurt our bodies, we worry too much. 😢😢😢
☦️❤️☦️❤️
Amen! Sometimes we can't even see our own gift, because we're too occupied with what others have. I keep getting the lesson that we need to stop looking outward and look inward. Thank you Father 💥
Just like how the church concealed the priest that touched my brother. They didn't confess or forsake the transgression they just covered it up so they could go on to spread the cult further and rake in that money.
Thank you, Father
Truth, but it’s Psalm 119 instead of Psalm 118
Psalm 118 in the Septuagint Old Testament, and 119 in the Masoretic Old Testament.
Lips has to do with our 'face.'
Amen.It is impossible for the flesh, our sin nature to do God's will. Romans 8:7. We must surrender our will, our sin nature, our weakness to Holy Spirit who is God's nature, character and power living in us. We must depend and allow Holy Spirit to enable us to live a righteous life.
You just spent 45 seconds explaining the complicated in a simple way while staying true to Logos. Professional christians sell books on this subject. You just did it for free. Thanks. 👍
Wow!
Amen❤❤
First prove Christ exists. This is man-made fiction. Accept the fact that life is finite and without universal purpose. Life in reality. Accepting the above makes this life, which we do experience, way, way more worth living.
There is so much proof that Christ exists. Why are you here if you don't believe? Are you actually willing to accept new information and change your beliefs? Or are you just here to start stuff?
@AshOzer give me one that he's the son of God. Just one. That's all I need. Don't use the bible as evidence please. Yes, I want to start something. Get religious dogma out of our world. It's immoral to lie to people.
@@AshOzer still waiting!!!!!@
Very vague
Amen
Father Bless
Pray for me as I prepare for confession
God bless you and keep you
@@fr.ajarmus Thank you, I will be going to confession today at a Orthodox Church.
❤
I appreciate your honesty. So many people are too confident in their own theories that we can never know or understand for sure. That’s why we don’t have to understand, simply trust
Indeed!
❤Jesus i trust in you!
The point is he gave his body and blood for your sins, so that whenever you eat you should remember that symbolically. Not literally.
Ancient Christian writings all speak about the Eucharist being the true Body and Blood of Christ. The only place where this was denied was among heretical groups.
As a Catholic, the Eucharist is a miracle and a mystery as Jesus said in John 6-53 said, “Unless you eat my body and drink my blood, there is no life in you” 🙏
Totally underrated video, i haven't seen anyone go into such detail just fully addressing the protestant claims and explaining our position scripturally. Father bless!
Far better to accept the universe as it really is than to embrace a delusion no matter how reassuring or comfortable.
Amen
