Driving a Mail Truck! - 1987 Grumman LLV POV
The Grumman LLV (or Long Life Vehicle as its known) is a mail delivery apparatus produced between 1987 & 1994 by a military contractor. This vehicle has been in the background of every Americans life since 1987, and has therefore earned the title as "most iconic American vehicle" by yours truly. The engine of the LLV is a GM Iron Duke 2.5L Inline 4. Producing 90 horsepower, this vehicle isn't impressive by any means, but it being right hand drive, and being so iconic is what makes it so special.
I hope you guys enjoyed this video. I'm sorry about all the cuts, since I was trying to avoid revealing any addresses that the GPS was saying, so I had to cut all that stuff out. I also apologize for the noise, these are really loud and there's nothing I can really do about that besides talk loud lmao.

The 2024 Toyota Corolla has a 2.4L Inline 4 engine with 169 horsepower. This car offers a super smooth and responsive ride, with some of the tightest, most responsive steering I've ever experienced. This car also has features such as: apple car play, automatic parking brake, brake pedal auto hold, and many more! This car was a pleasure to drive, and really opened up my eyes and my mind to what ...

217,000 MILES! 2000 Ford Crown Victoria POV Test Drive

The Ford Crown Victoria was a luxury sedan produced between 1980 and 2012. This particular model is the 2000. Manufactured in 1999, this model comes with a 4.6L V8 engine (the ones they used on the mustangs of that era) and produced 215 horsepower. This car offers a super smooth ride and despite being considered a “boat,” it will perform well in almost any aspect you can think of. Being one of ...
Being no ac tells you everything you need to know about how they care about you
Yeah haha they don’t give a crap about us or their vehicles. They tell us to get the cheapest gas possible for their crap boxes that just barely meet government regulation… still fun to drive tho 😅
I was an amazon driver for a month and this is so relatable. Only I sat on the left
Oh lord… USPS isn’t the most glamorous company to work for but I’ve heard absolute horror stories from amazon drivers. Overworked and under appreciated. Props to you for being an amazon driver, even if only a month 🔥
Does it have a airbag
It does not
No way there is enough to know about that van to have 8hrs of classroom time 😅.
Haha nah it’s not just about the LLV, mostly about defensive driving protocols with a little bit of LLV information thrown in. It was a very boring day filled with an archaic slideshow but hey it was paid and the instructor was cool so who am I to complain lol
this is fire
OH MY SQUIDWARD HIII
Ever driven the metris mail van
Yes, they briefly trained us on them during the LLV training day. We mainly played around with the controls and then were taught about all the blind spots but they let us drive them for like 5 minutes. Much much smoother than the LLV, but far too many blind spots
Out here in the deep ozarks mailmen drive jeeps beacause of the rugged roads. With a normal mail van you would get stuck in the first mud puddle.
@Satsuma1 oh wow I didn’t know that! It does make sense though, even in regular dirt roads this mail truck struggles. I couldn’t imagine it in mud. Would be cool to see one of those jeeps in person
Yea they drive these 90s jeep cherokees
@ that’s awesome! I love pre-2010s jeeps
Same here in rural WV, the ruts in our roads alone would probably get these stuck but the creek crossings and mud don’t help.. Jeeps are very much necessary here
Reminds me of driving a spotter truck around a yard. Fun to drive.
Oh yeah those look like fun
It’s criminal tht u don’t have more subs/views yet imo!
Thank you!
Back wen school buses never had ac either 😋😅
Truth! I rode school buses from 2003-09 and we never had ac on them 😂
@@hakeemsd70m I was riding school buses from 2010-2019 and I honestly don’t remember any of them having ac, just heat.
I.m the manager for the cars or as u can say inspector it has 160 hp
Oh that’s interesting. The throttle is so heavy it doesn’t feel like the thing has any horsepower 😂
@ yeah
@ I thought you were not going to reply to be honest:)
@ if you need anything else, let me know. I got you.
@@MotoTechRepairOfficial thank you!
The drivetrain was pretty stone-age for 1987; the Iron Duke mated to a 3-speed automatic. This was a standard drivetrain for the S-10 pickups back in the day. It's built to spend a lot of time puttering around at low speeds in subdivisions, not wound out on the highway. A lot of mail carriers in rural areas opted to use their own 4x4 vehicles so they could effectively deal with icy, snowy, or muddy back roads.
Yeah, I’d say these did their intended job extremely well! Although I could definitely see why one would use their own vehicle, these don’t deal with dirt roads, or heavy rain super well from what I’ve experienced.
@@theslammed2418 rain would be the tires. not the car itself
@ oh yeah true. The brakes are awful in the rain too
@@theslammed2418 wouldnt it be drumbrakes on such old thing?

I love seeing the high milage examples. I have an 03 Marauder and absolutely love it!
@@alpaljl that’s awesome! Marauders are so cool! Definitely wanna get a marauder some day, and I’m also hoping the grand marquis will make it to 400k 🙏
@@theslammed2418 Even if it didnt make it to 400 K, it would still be more logical to fix it than to pay car payments
@@EarlGuyton425 it would be better than car payments for sure
What Do You Think About 5.4 2V V8 Reliability? Thanks
As far as American engines go, you really can’t go wrong with ford engines. Prob the most reliable of the bunch.
Amazing... can't kill a Ford they live forever
Absolutely
How many times you had to do the intake manifold, if at all? And at how many miles. I got an 11' lx Vic with 100k wondering how it'll hold up, my older 07 p71 blew the intake at about 130k
I don’t believe we’ve had to do the intake manifold at all. I guess it’s just one of those things that either happens a lot or not at all.
@@theslammed2418 On the 4.6 engines 2002 and up, the intake issues were resolved by making the front of the intake out of aluminum
Awesome cars, I on my 3rd. The AC can be fixed for literally penny's ( the o-rings are bad in the controller) also the door looks need new pop rivets to hold the locking mechanisms in place. Google is your friend.
@@E1320_ oh wow I had no idea the ac was so cheap. I was a little scared cuz my brothers crown Vic had ac problems that ended up costing a decent amount, but that would be really cool if it was that cheap.
@@theslammed2418 The evaporator cores leak in them when they get older and its the labor that high. Or who knows maybe its a relay or a fuse. Having AC in a car is a state of mind, I am age 68 and I dont even use them but just roll the window down. My 2005 lincoln town car has good AC, but I dont use it at all. Mine is white and the white reflects heat. I also have the 4.6 V8 and at 194 K miles it runs perfect
@@EarlGuyton425 here in Florida its basically impossible to not use AC, especially for a sweaty guy like me haha
@@theslammed2418 I live in Houston Tx and it gets seriously hot here too
@ oh wow, I guess I’m just overly sweaty lol 😂
Love my 08 CV
@@infinity3jif yeah those things are absolute tanks. Beautiful to drive too
2.0L with 169hp
I just bought one used for my son whose learning how to drive soon. Approaching 59k miles 2006. Does the cruise control work on yours? That’s one thing that is not working on the car I bought. I missed it during inspection. Other than that really like it. Ford Panther platform. Oh I see on your video I want to get that cruise control working.
@@dudespin yeah the cruise control does work but basically all the other buttons on the wheel either stick or just don’t work at all. This is probably one of the best cars to learn to drive on. I personally learned on a 2000 crown vic which is basically the same thing. Keep this thing up with maintenance and it’ll last forever
@@theslammed2418 Cruise control can get people killed, because they get sleepy on road trips and arent having to concentrate on manual speed
I've always wanted to drive. However, I only see out of one good eye. It's legal in all states to drive with one eye, so long as as you can see welll out of the good eye. Would I drive like a mad man? Not likely. I'd embrace the smooth, the slow, just take it easy. I mean hey, I'm in no rush to get places.
@@thevacdude that’s good that you’re able to drive despite your vision. Also good to see others embracing the slow. As they say, slow is smooth, smooth is fast. Keep on driving out there man 🙏
These are great cars. My buddy had a '07 P71 and had no issues with it.
@@thevacdude these things will last forever if taken care of. Nothing like these days where they’re not built to last

For sure! This thing was a tank for a while, but unfortunately a poor mechanic job kinda screwed it up. Still got good money selling it though. Everyone wants one of these
