It being a continuation of G4 as a result of executive meddling doesn’t means it’s not a problem - I don't see the time jump as a negative especially sense the timeline is confusing and technology is more confusing in G4 than G5 G4 did have a more industrial feel and technology level that was rather inconsistent, but the jump to just a straighup modern day setting is incongruous with the idea that it is the same setting as G4 - Any show with any sort of modern technology to any extent will date This depends on what one means by “dating.” a show or movie set in the “modern day” will eventually become ‘not modern’ by virtue of time, and by extension culture, eventually moving on, but whether or not it will necessarily become dated will depend on how reliant on ‘modern’ trends the given story is. A Few Good Men came out in the early 90s and it was set in the “modern day” but now the film is over 30 years old and is still set in the early 90s, but is no more “dated” than something like Better Call Saul which came out in the mid 2010s, but was set in the early 2000s. - They might have been referring to a different Moondancer or Elder Flower might have gotten something wrong again and it's been like 10,000 years. Kindly refrain from doing the show’s homework for it. There is only one Moondancer in G4 and the audience is clearly meant to infer that Elder Flower’s Moondancer and G4’s Moondancer are one and the same. And that’s assuming that we even need a reminder to begin with - Earth ponies in G4 could only enhance plants but not grow it like in G5 and the gem is probably about that The ability to grow plants to the degree that Earth ponies do it in G5 was never in G4 and both the movie and the show specifically say that the magic of the three pony tribes was sealed in the gems. If the gem is the factor that leads to the Earth Ponies having different magic, why isn’t the magic of the unicorns and Pegasi enhanced or altered? - The ability to grow plants was probably not fully developed before they lost magic doing the shows homework for it - Argyle probably mentioned that earth ponies tended land but wasn't clear or he it's one of many pieces he didn't uncover doing the shows homework for it - The earth pony farmers had super strength but I don't think the non farmers had it It wasn’t a universal power, that’s true, but it was a power that was mostly specific to them, the only exception being Bulk-Biceps - There is a lot of personality in the main five and Misty with easily distinguishable personality traits Care to cite these “distinguishable personality traits?” - Zipp is very intelligent Objectively incorrect. Every instance of Zipp being “intelligent” is either glossed over without any explanation or insight into her reasoning, or the answer to whatever “mystery” she solves is given to her on a silver platter. If you can cite a specific example where that is not the case, I’d be more than happy to hear it - I do like the voice acting Good for you - While Zipp does find meaning with her friends it isn't a clear goal - I think the dialogue is fine Good for you - The way that Hitch runs things doesn't have to be %100 accurate to real life This is true; it doesn’t have to be 100% accurate to real life, but if you’re going to include elements of real life, you should expect those elements to operate similarly to real life, otherwise you just end up creating contradictions and running people’s emersion. - Hitch is shown to have a goofier side to him and the movie brought it out There certainly could be an argument made that Hitch had a goofier side in the film, but there is a difference between having a goofy side, and being a pansy - Zipp is the one looking into anything suspicious - A lot of the connections Zipp sees can be very easily implied “Implied” is not the same as “explained!” If you’re going to do the detective bullshit, YOU NEED TO EXPLAIN!!!! - Hitch is dealing with children and you don't want to come off as too aggressive which is easy to do Officers are specifically trained to control their emotions in highly stressful and dangerous situations, as well as how to deescalate precarious and potentially volatile situations. It is literally in the job description. If your everyday police officer is trained to do that with adults, Hitch absolutely should be capable of doing that with children, which in most cases your average parent is able to do without much hassle. The fact that Hitch not only doesn’t even attempt to mediate their argument, but actively runs away from the situation, is both cowardly and a huge disservice to his character. Also; “Aggressive?!” Do you think he’s going to get violent if he tries be the adult here?! - Those glitches happen so fast Zipp wouldn't have time to record it or take a picture of when it glitches Zipp saw the glitches once, and started monitoring the magic for a full 5 hours. You’re telling me that the idea that she might want to record the mgaic to catch the glitch on camera never occurred to her over 5 hours?! - It does seem weird that Sunny wouldn't believe Zipp but maybe Sunny didn't want to believe it WHAT. ARE. YOU. BASING. THAT. ON!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?! - If someone is busy enough you would be surprised at what they miss - As for adding more creatures don't want to add too much too fast They’re not “adding” creatures, they’re returning one of the creatures that they’ve removed from the setting, without adequately explaining their absence or their return - I imagine cutie marks are the same in G4 and G5 That is observably false - Hitch talking to animals is likely a cutie mark thing - There are established limits to magic Fantastic! G5 starts with no dragons around, when they were extremely prevalent at the end of G4 which G5 is supposed to be in continuity with - The dragons have been in hypersleep Some of us were unaware of that when we sat down to watch this show, but even knowing that, that still leaves us with several questions that the show never gives a satisfactory answer to - The dragons have evolved over time No, they didn’t and even if they did: why didn’t the ponies “evolve over time” too? - Opaline doesn't have the best design but she is a solid villain We’ll get into it as the show goes on, but in short: No. Opaline is an objectively bad villain and is about as threatening as a toddler with a nerf gun

God most of you said is pure cope and actually highlights why it doesnt work. -It absolutely matters how long ago it is because this pretty shows us how the g4 crew FAILED. In order for a culture changed this drastically you need to show us how long ago this happened. I know what the show says what happened we riffed that too. -Animal designs are lazy. It being fantasy is no excuse. -The window is to convenient. It needs to be better build off. -The animal powers and glitter cannon is variation but thats not enough to have it be separate. IT shows they can have a original character quirk/trait for their own characters and have to borror let alone steal from g4. -Tell your tale and Make your mark Zipp is NOT intelligent. Pay attention. The show just gives her solutions to the problem. She never solves ANYTHING. Cherry on top? When he connected the pieces as she claimed to Opaline they used a fucking montage and we dont her her deductive reasoning. She is stupid as hell. -They did have ideas for Pipp to be a antagonist but was scrapped. -Hitch is a coward in the series and acts like Sprout. Far Cry from his studly/brave act in the movie. He always backs down -It is nice to see Sprout doing community service....but thats it...hes just there and forgotten about depsite being the movies main antagonist. @@EpicFableBean - G4 hasn't been consistent with time why stop now. - I am saying I like how the animal designs add to the fantasy element but I understand if some don't like it. - It's just a couple of character traits that were taken from G4 there is a lot variation. - While it would be nice to see Zipps' reasoning there would be a lot of repeating what the audience already knows. - Yeah luckily Pipp does more in the shows than the movie. - Well Hitch doesn't like stirring up conflict but there are many moments where he does show a protective nature towards Sparky. - Yeah I do like that Sprout got punished a while it doesn't bother me I really wish he wasn't dropped almost entirely.

@@EpicFableBean - G4 had a big time jump between the ending of the end and the last problem which integrates every creature in Equestria and has Pinkie Pie and Cheese Sandwich in a romantic relationship with no reference for time. - While it would work a little better if they could integrate and explanation it is also really tricky trying to cover everything while not going on so long the audience is bored. - Hitch seems to step up when he needs to even if he might be afraid at first.

@@thaddeusr.3967 Time Jumps are a intended time skip to show the evolution of narrative of what happens in a time line. This is not comparable to what g5 did? You know how i know? Besides what I said about how it fucks over g4 it was also last minute planning to add g4 lore into g5 story. Besides with how the g4 crew and how old they look it gives you a reasonable grasp on how much time passed. 20-30 years -Tricky but its needed. @@EpicFableBean Well i prefer to look at it this way, zebras and ponies may not be related by species, but they are related by both being members of the Equine family, therefore in it's own weird and twisted way if Zecora had eaten Apple Bloom she would've committed a sort of an "interspecies" cannibalism, i mean i know there's no such thing but that's what i like to call it and that's just how i see it, but since everyone has different opinions oh well.
