COFFEETIME CARTOONING | EDITED VERSION | EPISODE #5
Welcome to Creating Characters, coffeetime cartooning with Lee Bullen.
Listen to the rolling waves and my inane commentary as you look over my shoulder at my drawing pad and we create a character together.
We’ll then give the character a name and a back-story.
I’ve decided to return to my first passion of cartooning after a gap of around 25 years.
As soon as I was old enough to grip a pen as a toddler, I started drawing; nonstop throughout my childhood and adolescence.
I lost interest as the world moved into the digital age and computer animation took over.
I found my creative spark again in writing; the blank page of a Word document felt as exciting as the blank page of a drawing pad.
I have gone on to write several novels and screenplays - all available on Amazon - but I’ve decided to dabble anew in my old passion for cartooning.
So join me... for some coffeetime cartooning... and creating characters...

ROD TEMPERTON BIOPIC | FILM SCRIPT BREAKDOWN

Breakdown of my film script for ‘Always & Forever: The Rod Temperton Story'. The biopic follows Rod Temperton's meteoric rise from working on a cold English fish market to penning some of soul music’s biggest hits. ‘Always and Forever’ recounts Rod’s early years in Cleethorpes as a nerdy-looking organist with dreams of becoming a renowned composer. Rod answers an advert in a music magazine and ...

Love it mate!!!
Thank you 🙏🏿 for this
This is one of the most influential man in music.
I never know that rot was a genius like that. I heard he wait and I heard the way the beat was gone. I've never paid attention. The Michael Jackson, since I'm listening to it on a live track. He was a dynamite writer. He could have did anything
You sound like Ray Winston! And a bit of Harry Redknapp
Love from india, nothing has made me ever so happy than thie video
Hahaha! Thanks for letting me know! Love from the UK!
Just had a dream last night in which I met lee judges on the streets and showed him this video. You have taken over my psyche 🤣 Oscar level performance

Thanks Speed!
WoW! I can't believe until now at 45, I've never heard of Rod Templeton.
Genius inne!
The biggest hits of Black American music written and composed by a pom lol
@Lee Bullen This is an EXCELLENT documentary!! It was concise but chock full of facts and information, done in a very professional and respectful way! Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful production. Rod Temperton was a lyrical and melodic GENIUS! It was only after seeing this documentary that I realized how much of an influence he had on my generation's musical enjoyment. SIHP ♥️🎶🙏🏾
@@Shodan86 Thanks for this message! All the best
The whitest black guy on the planet 😂❤️
So much respect…a great influence for me 🙏🏻
Hancock's "Lite Me Up" is a killer album!
But how does one learn to write like this
Great documentary Lee.
I strive to be like Rod when it comes to songwriting
Not sure if that is gift...More like Genius!
Thank you very much mate...... oh, you meant Rod?! ;)
Rod was a white dude ??????
@@wongsifu460 Rod was a pasty-faced limey!
Rod Temperton looked like someone who would’ve worked down the local Jobcentre or Social Security office, instead of someone who was a songwriting genius! Michael Jackson’s best album “Off The Wall” would’ve been nowhere without Rod’s tunes!
all this time I thought he was a black guy
Do you think a TRANS-woman is a woman, ay some people I give up
I knew I was hearing elements of Heat wave in some of Michaels songs! This explains it. Genius of Quincy to make the hookup.
Rod was a genius ! Responsible for the biggest hits in music history. MJ’s biggest songs were penned by him and he was a true musical genius
Rod was a genius ! He penned the biggest hit in music history and b worked on countless hits worldwide. MJ’s success is owed to Rod
Didn’t know ‘Mystery’ was originally a Manhattan Transfer song, let alone written by Rod Temperton
Great video of one of the best music producers.
Rod saved the FUNK against all rock&roll fanatics
I CANNOT BELIEVE ROD IS NOT IN THE SONGWRITERS HALL OF FAME. HES WRITTEN MORE SONGS THAN MANY CURRENT MEMBERS COMBINED! SiGN A PETITION !
Damn, that fish filleter rocked it hard
ROD TEMPERTON, El Debarge, and Norman Whitfield. are my ALL-TIME favorite Music Composers, in just that order too. Rod put his FOOT Musically, in, Star of a story. his band Heatwave version, which is the original. man, that song is so beautiful. I DON'T know any other music team that sold more records than Quincy and Rod.
I have all the albums by heatwave, brothers Johnson, micheal macdonald, George Benson, Micheal Jackson and i would read the composer and musician playing and i was shocked that Rod Temperton wrote so many good songs this was back in the late eighties
Heatwave wasn’t a little band
time to listen to all heatwave albums back to back
Oh my goodness how does one even imagine... banging out three absolute classics, for Michael Jackson, between the hours of 3am - 9am????
@@truthhandlers3000 Incredible innit!!
I was luck enough to see Heatwave perform in a nightclub in Oldham 1977 with the Original line up including Rod on the organ the Wilder Brothers and Bilbo on Drums. Boogie Nights had been released & in the Charts. I knew then that Heatwave were special closing song Always & Forever. Followed them ever since very sad that only Bilbo remains but Rods music will live forever.Last week was my first time in Cleethorps and found the blue plaque on the wall. They should have a more fitting tribute when you consider his massive contribution to the Music Industry and his working class roots Always & Forever Rod a fitting tribute Robert from Manchester
Rod Temperton, was THAT DUDE!! So many great hits for some of the worlds best artists. You also got to credit Johnny and Keith Wilder for finding this gem of a man!! 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶💯
Im from cleethorpes and Rod Temperton went to school with my mum and used to come to my nanas for cake hahaha...Dude was a legend and a massive inspiration to me and many others...
Think he ruins Thriller a little bit with his contributions, that's the moment Jackson overtakes Temperton as a songwriter for me
He wrote a third of Thriller including the title song (and the legendary album title itself, as he did with OTW), you honestly feel he 'ruined' it? Thriller was Jackson's last great album, it went downhill from there album by album, so obviously Jackson's songwriting didn't overtake Temperton's...
@LeeBullenWriter Jackson's tracks just have a sense of urgency on Thriller that Tempterton's lack. Starting Something is an exhilarating opener that's immediately let down by Baby Be Mine and doesn't pick up again until Beat It. Thriller doesn't work as a coherent album and that's largely down to Temperton's tracks.
@@davidvasey5065 Fair enough. If I had to do a top 5 of my favourite Jackson songs, three of them would be Temperton's. And I don't think MJ's songwriting improved any after. It all got a bit poppy and over-sentimental from Bad on. Baby Be Mine tends to get a bad rub, I remember it being one of my faves when I was an 11yo lad and the album came out. Still grooves for me, but then I love that late-70s/80s dance sound. I also think Lady in My Life captured Jackson's best ever recorded vocal performance. Spine tingling. And conversely to what was to come, authentic. The worst thing on Thriller is undoubtedly Jackson's Girl is Mine tho. Wanna Be is brilliant and an unfinished song from OTW. He found something special the day Billie Jean popped into his head, altho largely in thanks to his participation on State of Independence with Quincy just before! And altho he was asked to come up with 'something rocky like My Sherona' by Quincy, he did incredibly well to produce Beat It from it. I think it's a perfect album so everyone involved gets a hand from me. I especially like how Quincy discovered Human Nature and how James Ingram came up with PYT based on Quincy's wife's lingerie. And it ends with Jackson howling 'I want to squeeze you, I love you, I need you, I want you, baby' so win win for me.
Rod you are trully a legend !!
BLACK ARTIST PUT THE SOUL IN HIS MUSIC!!!! THIS IS WHY HE WROTE MAINLY FOR BLACK ARTIST!!!!
Arrogant asshole. Nuf said.
"Mystery" is my favorite song written by Rod Temperton
Peggy Lipton was on the Mod Squad in which Vincent Price appeared
Most of these songs I thought were extra special cuts to me and they all were from his pen!
He has gotten to be one of best song writers ever. Some of these songs I don’t know he wrote.
He was on 66?? That’s crazy. RIP
Rod Temperton is the best Man.
Amazing! Thank you so much for spending the time to make this wonderful little film about one of the all-time greats!
Pleasure... I spent a little more time remaking it with better sound and more images if you're interested. Should show up as a thumb at the end. All the best.
Quincy you are and will be the most influential person in are culture and my Life Thank you Sir Rest in Paradise
