Ducati Diet
Приєднався 15 гру 2020
Nerd warning! This is a completely unnecessary channel of pointless tweaks to make my two Ducatis lighter. Performance of a motorcycle is directly linked to the power to weight ratio. One can do a bit to improve the power, but there's a lot one can do to minimise the weight. These are some tricks. Will it improve my lap times? Hardly, but I like tinkering and finding solutions I believe will improve the bikes.

Hopefully you’ll see this, but what battery setup did you use? I also have an 848 that I’m trying to drop a lot of weight off. Currently at 339lbs/147hp and am planning on cutting the subframe like this, but if there’s a lighter battery option than the shorai I have, I’d love to update it! Thanks in advance!
Well) Original bike looked very much better)
I wonder what cost was for that 1.8Kg saved?
Hello, I am following you for the mods on the Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled. Thank you for the great overview. One question. I’m looking for the Biltema Li Ion battery. It looks like they are not available anymore. Would you have a good alternative…?? It is OK for the size of the original battery. I am looking for the 3kg weight reduction… Thank you in advance.
Looks rowdy my friend 😎
maybe a white stripe on the headlight also to match the front fender faring theme.
Just found your channel, really enjoyed all your mods and hacks tomyour 848, do you still have the bike? Hope youdecide to make more videos.
details on the tail section at 5:45. the bike with the number 55 number plate. i need that tail!
Hello and thanx for watching. Unfortunately I don't know anything about that bike. I found the photo somewhere on the web, and it supported my point about the Scrambler seat.
I like your style. And your videography. Thanks.
Great mechanical work. Excellent video! Thanks.
What size valve stem did you purchase and where did you get it from?
Billy Idol!
Very nice and informative video, Thanks. What valve size did you use, is 8 or 11 mm ?
Super project you*ve got going here - what's the weight of the bike yet.. ? and in order to replicate, what thickness of carbon sheet's are you using, and more'so you've got a tip to where to buy.. greeting a comming Sf848 rider in DK
Looks good, I personally prefer keep the bike in perfect factory condition using only the Ducati parts.
I have this on my Kawasaki z750and let me say.. the sound is completely different compared to yours... Mine sounds like a rocket lol
Good effort and congratulations on your patience, I would have been really pissed off! Just one thing, it does look like that Ducati rear wheel has a small safety inner rim on each side to prevent a flat tyre falling into the drop centre but generally people forget that most tubed rims do not. Also anybody watching who does a bit of off-road, remember that the spokes will need periodic adjustment and then the silicone seal will be broken on the nipples. For certain tighten them to torque spec before doing this conversion and check you do them in the correct pattern, not just sequentially.
What footrests are that? Original ducati? I’m looking for some wider one that icon’s originals
however...on the homemade risers; i wouldnt want to be doing 120kmh on a dirt road and find an unseen pothole; the reason for the machined area around the riser bolt hole on the top clamp is for the clamp assembly to have some metal to bite on > preventing the bolts from shearing off in the event of a huge whack.
these tube delete vids are excellent
er, um, i'm pretty sure the shock resevoir needs airflow for cooling to keep your shock working properly
oops i spoke too soon
i would obviously start with a lithium battery (4kgs in one go ) followed by s de-cat (another maybe 8-10kgs )
im curious to know why the desert sled is 20kg heavier than the icon..any clues ?
Longer travel suspension, skid plate, and a beefier frame.
didn’t you get an engine light after disconnecting the light?
Im 63kg in weight, can wait to see what the power of these are like
Fantastic video, I'm this close to selling my Mt09 Sp 2021 and getting a dessert sled
I love the black and red paint job on your icon! Replace the red with OD Green and that is the paint job I want on a desert sled, with black anodized aluminum crash bars and engine guards….
Hi, where did you buy the aftermarket catalyst, please?
My guess is you spent huge time and modifying the wrong bike for the job..it may have been much easier modifying a decent dirt bike for the road ..Im a Ducati Scrambler sixty 2 owner and I've replaced my tyres with sports rubber, added luggage etc and ended up with a pure road bike in the style of a scrambler ..It's too heavy, too under- sprung and too pretty to be dropping in the dirt as a result of not being capable enough to start with..I'm impressed by your determination to find answers to turn a Ducati into a BMW F800GS though!! 🤣
Where did you get the torque specs?
Why the hell you wear highvis in forest ? :-D
I like your videos man! This is the second one I have came across in my searches of desert sleds.
Bra och användbar video! Vad är det för tejp du använder?
The bike is perfectly ok in standard form.Dont like the mods at all. How is removing the rear footpegs saving much weight?
Removing anything saves weight, pretty obvious I would have thought. It all adds up...
Beautiful build love the color scheme, and all the intricate changes you made, super detailed. I’m a fellow sf848 rider awesome bike, but much heavier than my monster 1100 evo. Not sure if I will go to the extent you did I been focusing on my running for weight savings 🤣🤣
How do you like the new tires ? are they much better offroad?
Hows that motocomposite airbox any problems and or modifications when installing and is it good quality. I'm thinking about buying the air box but not sure which one to go with?
That's pretty crazy story right there, but I do appreciate the dedication :) I also have an 848 in Stealth Black, beautiful bikes!
Looks amazing, quick question, might seem like a stupid question but when you switch to high beam mine won’t stay on , only if you physically hold the little switch lever on high beam, also is there an option on the bike to put the hazard lights on? In regards to the bulb itself, if you change the bulb with a HID or LED light do you need to buy a specific bulb cover that will cover the back of the bulb to keep the water out? Thanks 🤙
You have to check 2 fuses, but before that, take about 5litres of gasoline, and pour it on the bike, and then throw a lit match on it.
You have to push it down and it will stay on. And you push it dosn again to turni ut off
Hey Man, I've watched a couple of your videos but not all. I recently purchased a new '21 Desert Sled. It's got about 1000 miles on it and I have had multiple issues with rear brake light switch. Have you had issues too? I secured mine with a shim and zip tie but then the switch quit working. I am buying a new switch and have been told by the service manager at the dealer where I bought my bike that Ducatti will most likely not cover the repair under my warranty. Any thoughts?
I have a 2019, and if you are talking about what I think you are talking about, I used Sole Repair Goop [That black tar-like stuff you can buy at Ace Hardware to re-glue the soles of your work/hiking boots] to stick it in place. (Just a dab.)
Dude, the amount of work you did just on exhaust system is absolutely bananas!! My respect from Canada!
💪❤️🏍️💨💨💨💨
Need more video of the Desert Sled.
Just buy an exhaust 🤣
Surely you should have bought a single cylinder scrambler , then you wouldn't have to waste so much time and effort modifying a bike that was designed to replicate the Ducati SSC bikes of the 60s & 70s , of course it's going to be heavy it's got a big old L twin engine in it , I own a Ducati scrambler it's a great motorcycle I would ride it on dirt tracks but that's just about it .
Hej! Hittade just din kanal.
Did exactly that same modification to the rear wheel in my Africa Twin. And had to go twice to the tire shop for the very same reason you did. I think we both used 3M tape, correct? So far, no pressure loss beyond the usual one that I had before as well. Front wheel a different matter. Did not make it tubeless due to different rim shape.
V engines are sucks. There’s no way to put a decent exhaust with no monkey business
What's your height bro
