NTA. If the wife says OP is "financial abusive" after the whole list of things only *he* pays for, she should get a reality check. Idk if it's a big enough red flag, but IMO OP should try to get custody and divorce his wife. I knew a girl this happened to. Way back when I was in HS in the mid-to-late 90s, my best friend decided to throw a party while her mother was away. While my friend was drunk off her rocker, and canoodling with her boyfriend, a guy ended up going into her 13-year-old little sister's room and SAing her. I was fighting with my friend over some petty matter at the time, which is the only reason I wasn't at the party. I didn't find out until 2 weeks later, after my friend and I had made up, and she told me that they hadn't called the police because she was afraid of getting into trouble for throwing a party. She convinced her little sister to just keep quiet about it all, and she did. I was flabbergasted by that, especially when she told me how scared she'd been because her sister was bleeding heavily for days afterwards. I ended up calling DSS anonymously that same night and reporting it, but our system is so broken down here that I'd be surprised if they ever even showed up. I reported it under the guise of being a teacher who overheard some students talking about it, but I never heard anything from my friend about them visiting. She would've grilled me like crazy had they actually made an appearance, as she was the type who would've cut me off if she believed I'd broken her trust like that. I normally wouldn't have, but her sister was like family to me. I wanted her to get medical help and I wanted the sub-human waste of flesh who hurt her behind bars. Sadly, neither happened. I was just 16 at the time, and there wasn't an internet around to help guide me back then. I wish I had done more, because that girl never did get over what was done to her, but at the time, I just didn't know what I could do. I knew my parents wouldn't care, so I didn't tell them, and don't even get me started on the police in this area back then. I didn't even knew the guy's name, as my friend had told everyone involved to never tell me. She was afraid I'd "make things worse". Yeah, that was the point. I wanted to make things A LOT worse for that PoS. Of course, given my temperament at that age it was probably best I didn't know, as I wasn't trying to locate his dumb ass in order to call the cops on him.

Oddly, the argument for this story being real is the fact that it doesn't mention the reaction of ex-fiance, when OP revealed he knew she had an affair along with leaving him, nothing about keeping/cutting contact with ex's daughter. In a twisted way it doesn't focus on things, that readers hope for when reading. It makes the story very frustrating though... It's a story about a cheating, disabled ex-fiancee, that leaves OP when he's facing an illness, not an ADA house advertisment. The video, was filmed in Lia's room, it contained identifiable objects that revealed where she went to school. I was devastated upon hearing this news. Lia's reaction surprised me; she didn't cry or show much emotion. Instead, she simply shrugged and said, "I figured," before just sitting there in silence. The officials reassured us that it's uncommon for perpetrators to surface in such cases, but they felt obligated to inform us for safety reasons. After they left, Lia resumed acting as if nothing had happened, almost overly cheerful. I attempted to discuss it with her several times, but she avoided the topic. This behavior persisted throughout the week until she unexpectedly revealed that she had written a victim impact statement and wanted to read it herself in court, rather than allowing the prosecutor to do so. To basically debrief why she was there and what’s causing her to have these thoughts and she opened up to him and told her about the rape however, he asked her if this was her only sexual experience and she told him yes. But he kept questioning her like he didn’t believe it was her only experience and saying to her that he won’t tell me if it wasn’t that she can say it and she kept having tell him no this was that was her only experience. Then he asked about her sexuality if she still attracted to men and she just told him that she doesn’t think about relationships right now. She just said that she felt weird about him asking a lot of questions about her sex life. When it was just those two alone in a room with the door close. I’m not gonna accuse the psych of being a creep, because maybe he was simply doing his job but I feel like he should have known to have a female staff ask her those questions. Or just have a woman present. He had have seen her chart before he seen her. Update: a little positive update, I got Lia out two days ago and she’s been medicated so she’s been sleeping a lot. But the inpatient mental health clinic was not got good for her. She told me she hasn’t barely slept and not showered her whole stay because they would constantly talk to her through the intercom everytime she put a blanket over face. Then she was scared to shower because someone would need to monitor her if she did. But the only positive that came out of that place is that she realized her problems are bad but compared to her peers..she realized how fortunate she is to have me and other people as a support system while others don’t and that she’s extremely grateful for me ( I did cry when I herd that.) The sentencing is next week and she still wants to speak and I’m going to let her and I don’t know why I didn’t ask the prosecutor to begin with. But he did say she can record a video, she can skype in or even do a voice recording. She’s really pleased with the voice recording idea currently, She feels like it might be trigger for her if she sees her rapist stare at her. As far as maya, she dropped off flowers for Lia ( Lia told her she attempted) and I didn’t talk to her the entire time she was here. But after she left I told Lia she can’t talk to her right now. Which Lia was upset at me when I told her that and she thinks I’m trying to put her in the middle but I’m not. After the sentencing I will be telling Lia the full truth about maya and the full reason why I’m mad at her. She has no knowledge of how badly maya failed her that night and she thinks she only got trouble because she threw a party. I will do an update post after the sentencing & when I tell Lia and hopefully it’s positive.

Once a cheater always a cheater. I say divorce her. Even if she backs down, she will always be looking for someone else to cheat with and next time, she wont bring it up until one day you wake up with herpes because she picked it up from some punk the month before and then it "was a mistake" and the waterworks will come out. Then everybody will expect you to be the bigger person and forgive her. When you don’t then YOU are the bad guy. Even asking for permission to cheat is grounds for devorce in my opinion. its amazing how all these stories magically end with them having some kind of relationship with the person who wronged them, whether its ex partners/partners/siblings. can't say I've met a single person who once they got rid of their betrayer they ever had anything to do with them again, maybe thats because that was reality and not fiction where people want to come out on top and remain the "better" person in a jesus like fashion of forgiving sins.
