XSR900 High Value Recommended Mods
Here's a follow up video for the XSR900 review video I did recently. I go over some of the cheaper recommended mods for what I think is going to add immediate value to your ride for relatively cheap.
For the bolts that cover up where the stock mirrors used to mount, you can get them off Amazon if you can't find it at your local hardware stores:

Yamaha XSR900 Long Term Review: Pro's, Con's, Beginner?
Переглядів 78 тис.5 років тому
#XSR900 Here's a review of my 2016 Yamaha XSR900. More of my thoughts about it at: thesoloseat.com/yamaha-xsr900/ After riding it for about 8000 km's, I go over things I like, dislike, it's value and whether I think it's suitable for a new(er) rider. It's a powerful ride just like the other reviewers have demonstrated but it's also good for cruising like I do here. 0:30 - Beginning 1:20 - Gener...
no the stand isnt $300 or $400 bucks, the site u showed was $250
Did you get the 1 inch or 7/8 inch grips?
Xsr 700 more nimble and slower and better first bike✊🔥
Hey, great review! I just got a same bike like yours. I live in Coquitlam. May be we can hang out some time if you still have the bike.
Psh, 5'10" guys always think they're superior
Thanks for the video! I bought a used xsr900 3 weeks ago, mine has bar end mirrors, I totally agree with your comments about the pro s of them. I also didn't like the thin grips and I put foam grips over top, much better, and for the same reason your like your thicker grips.
For me this is the more intelligent video review out there and I’ve seen a lot. Great job!
I bought a 2021 XSR 900 as my first bike. But I've ridden mopeds, dirt bikes and bikes "illegally" before. great bike, easy to maintenance, fun and most crucially cheap compared to the value you get. In regards to the power modes I've ridden most in standard or A, with the TCS in 1 and only in "off" when playing around in parking lot. Many people told me it would be too powerful for a start bike, but honestly I'm glad I did. Mainly for the reason being that I can grow into the bike. When it comes to speed, we have laws and as long as you keep to the speed limits you'll be better off on a bike with better breaks, handling and power than a underpowered / cheap 250cc in my opinion.
Need a tail tidy
Great review especially your advice to newer riders.
We need motovlogs from you, calm and collected
vancouver!
Yeeeea
Very helpful video!
Good looking bike for someone who can’t ride it.
What a pretty city. So clean, and that underground stretch was so cool!
the best review so far
As a 6'5" person I can say that the XSR900 also fits me perfect. Just bought one and it is a blast to ride. I intent to keep it forever :)
Thanks for the informative video! One of my fave bikes I ever owned was a 2001 YZF-R1 that I used to race (until it got stolen...ughhh)... just going to say loading your bike onto spool swingarm stand is easy as long as 1) you know what you are doing and 2) you have a quality sturdy stand like a Pitbull that I used to own. I'm in the process of pulling the trigger on an XSR9 (Still have the itch to ride and I'm in that midlife crisis age range haha).
What did you do for the bar ends? On my FZ07 I got CRG lanesplitters and rhinomoto bar ends.
Nice review. Thinking about an XSR and pulled up your video, only to see you ride right past my apartment building. Small world... thanks!
A perfect review, which I was looking for. Thanks for that
I went from an R3 to this. I kept it in full traction control and B mode for 10 minutes, then T.C. 1 and standard most the time. It's not hard to manage at all.
Very well said! About people concerned about power
Some good pointers there, liking the bar end mirrors and the snap jack 👌
I keep my bike in a storage unit. The doorway is pretty narrow, so if I got bar end mirrors, they would need to fold away. Another good reason to have them.
radiator guard
Thanks for talking about the seat height it was a deal breaker when I checked out the ftr
Underrated factor forsure
I am going to recommend the SW Centerstand instead of the portable jack because the center stand is so good it rivals some OEM stands, weighs very little, and you can park your bike on the centerstand and it is really a much more stable platform. THAT SAID, if you go with the quick jack, you should at least get the also-great SW Motech kickstand foot enlarger, because if you are going to rely on the quick jack, and that relies on the kickstand, at least give the kickstand more stable footing.
do you only ride bike or do you have a car too? wondering because I want to really start riding but im in college but want to make sure I can afford everything?
I only have motorcycle which I ride for fun. I moved within walking distance to work so I didn't have to rely on a car a few years ago.
I really like that bike. But, the pegs look like they are back too far to suit me, almost like a crotch rocket.
How did you affix the CRG Hindsight LS Mirrors? Did you clamp directly to the stock bar ends or get the CRG billet adapters?
Not just saying this but this gotta be the best review of the xsr 900 out there well done sir
Hello fellow Canadian!!! Very nice review!! I’m really considering this bike and ktm’s duke 790 or 890!!! Have you ever considered ktm? I’m afraid about reliability!!!
Hey 👋 I never considered a KTM but I did hear about their reliability being a concern in a passing discussion before but I wouldn't say that should mean much to you. However, I do believe Yamaha is consistently ranked as #1 in reliability. My XSR900 ran without issues over several thousand kilometers
@@thesoloseat7381 yes yamaha are solid bikes!! Ktm are more exotic imo!! Thank you buddy!!
My OCD is kicking in and that off center gas cap is giving me a headache 😫
Dude you should make more vids man 💯 this is an awesome review !!!
You obviously never rode a bmw hp4. That shit is way to fast for the road
Still the best bang for the buck in my opinion
You sold me at :38
how tall are you? do you find yourself leaning forward a bit and the tank hitting your crotch?
I'm 5' 10" and I did not find the tank hitting my crotch. I always surprised by how comfortable I found myself on it. There is a bit of leaning forward but not like a sport bike
@@thesoloseat7381 thanks! im 5 7 and i found sitting on it on the dealership a bit uncomfortable. not sure how it compares when actually riding it.
i’ve watched so many videos on the xsr900 saying it’s not a great beginner bike but i still want to get it😂! i have a 89 yamaha xt350 enduro so i think i’ll ride that for 1-2 seasons then get the xsr900 i have my eyes on.
You'll be fine 😀 I rode one season before moving onto the xsr900 so you'll be better prepared than I was lol.
Great review, thanks!
Fellas I'm 5'10, ladies I'm 6\ 1 lol Great review , bro
5:35 i can not stress enough how much i agree with this. Very well articulated
Perfect review. Love this bike. 👍
I have the 700 and I love the bike! I think they are both ok for a beginner, it really depents on the driver..
Great review. Just pick up my XSR900 yesterday. Love every second riding ❤️
One of the best reviews on this bike. 👍 Thanks.
What kind of net did you get for your seat?
lube the chain with a friend: Kickstand down. lift the back up on it. other person lubes the chain
I’m pretty sure this is my bike now! (If you don’t have it anymore) LoL. I got it from Holeshot in Langley, it’s got the same mirrors and frame sliders on it.
Loooooool omg yup. That's where it went. Do you live around Vancouver? I would love to see it again for old times sake. How do you find it?
I did live in Vancouver, I moved to Ontario last week. Sorry my dude. LoL
I came across the ad on Craigslist, never heard of the bike but fell in love. I bought it before I even sat on it cause I liked the look that much
@@bigmeow1788 ahh did you take the bike with you? I was the same way. I wanted the silver one and Holeshot shipped one from Alberta. Actually had 0 kms on it. Didn't ride it before, just knew I wanted it lol
The Solo Seat yes I still got it. My work shipped everything in our house but I wanted to tow the bike with me to keep it safe. I will show you a picture tomorrow
