Patina On A Mora Robust - Fail!!
Переглядів 8 тис.9 років тому
I followed the steps carefully and ended up with basicly a ruined knife. couldnt get the edge to the ridicules mora edge, and the overall look was not great. now i know that the main point of a patina is for rust prevention but with the blade dull i dont think it was worth it. THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU TRY THIS!

    I sense a disturbance in the field. This is doubtless because there are 2 versions of the Robust. 1) Robust Classic, oldest, the one you see here; 2 ) Robust HD, newer, has the finger guards and a shorter blade. Mora doesn't put the name identifying the model on the blades. Hence confusion. I think the one with the grey handle is cooler. Cheaper too.

    Your gray knife is not Mora Robust. Robust features 89mm blase vs 100mm on Companion, has completely other handle and sheath. www.lamnia.com/en/p/10081/knives/morakniv-robust-knife So you are comparing same knives. The only reason is handle color, it might be some limited run for particular distributor or business (for painters for instance).

      The gray knife was sold as a HighQ Robust. Search Mora robust classic or HighQ Robust, it was the robust before the new one.

    שלום! Leatherman knows that these blackened tools will sell 99% to non-military civilians. I think our guys in IDF like Waves, maybe Surge in armoured battalions. But Rebar is excellent--I own two, in black and regular. תודה ולהצלחה!

    I’m not sure, especially since this video is older and that means new models may have replaced old ones but with new names... that is not a mora Robust. It is a Companion HD. The giveaway is the handles. The Robust (at least the newest one) handle has a much more pronounced guard. The companion is more streamlined like we see here on both knives. Also, baton with them all you want. You can’t tell me it’s not made to handle it. The heavy duty moras test really well on tests designed to intentionally damage them, and, they’re cheap. Would you rather spend $60 on a beefier knife and then whack it off things and risk breaking it, or would you rather do that with the cheap, $20 knife with the plastic handle that doesn’t look pretty (they’re not ugly, but they are very utilitarian, let’s face it)? I know what i would use. The one that’s easier to afford to replace. Although I would still stick to the robust. Better to be a bit on the safe side.

    They are slings not straps. Prusiks are autoblock knots. What you are holding is accessory cord used to tie prusiks. Maybe you should learn the basics before you teach people how to get killed with false information. Get trained before you give lessons. Thanks. And one last thing...kN is not a static load unit. Put on your helmets kids this guy is gonna fall and make a dent

    That sharpener is meant for 22.5 per side, so 45 degrees in total, when the Moras have 23 or 27 per total. You can use it free hand, but no passing trough, unless absolutely necessary. Anyway, nice comparison though.

    Hey dude. Do you think regular drills ie non hammer would work on limestone l. Also which model is that which you re using ? And how many holes can you drill with one charge ?

    • @ianf6270
      @ianf6270 5 років тому

      Good luck with a regular drill, you'll likely wear out your bit and your arms in 2 holes tops. Hammering action of the rotary hammers is what makes actually breaking up the rock as you drill. you'd be better off hand drilling than trying to use a simple electric drill. all the other questions he answered.

    A trick that I've seen other UA-camrs(HighCarbonSteel Love) do is to line the pot with a handkerchief. The items that pack into the pot, can then be lifted out in one gathered bundle. And you then have that cotton cloth for other purposes.
