Our volunteer staff is dedicated to preserving railroad history and offering our guests the opportunity to experience old fashioned steam railroading right here in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. On May 16 and 17, 2015, the Black River & Western Railroad celebrated 50 years of steam railroading in Hunterdon County, NJ. To celebrate, the railroad sold tickets for the original 1965 prices. #60's First Fire Up of 2015!

On National Train Day, the steam team fired up #60 for a test run down to Flemington and back. The test was very successful, and we are happy to say #60 is ready for the 50th Anniversary Season! Volunteers have been working almost every weekend to get #60 ready for the 2015 season.

Pennsylvania Railroad/Penn Central SW1 #9206 is actually a sister to #8599 at the Zanesville and Western Scenic Railroad (ex. Buckeye Central Scenic Railroad).
Glad to see Pennsy power alive and well! Haven't been to the BR&W in years, and I'm looking forward to coming back this summer!
