I'm a physician who buys and sells rare and antiquarian books and enjoys sharing my knowledge about them with others.
Here’s what Pertussis does.
This is one of the many valuable things gained from reading antiquarian books. This is a preventable illness thanks to certain obvious developments in improved public health which have prevented countless millions of people (mostly children) from the horrible effects of illnesses like this.

I legit thought this was gonna be a troll video. I stand corrected good sir. Good vid. Respect to the "OG" books!
Thank you, I learn something every day. Important to me as we have a large, focused topic library or references. Lance.
In your opinion, which Bible is better, the KJV or the Geneva Bible?
Then I shelve my books correctly.
I thought this was going to be satyrical... now I'm just oddly interested
Unless you literally have a bunch of rare books why would you worry about it?
Where the word of a king is, there is power. Ecclesiastes 8:4. The King James Bible is the preserved word of God translated from the original manuscripts for the English speaking people.(#1 language spoken on earth) God's chosen people extensively polished the word because we have the correct context for each word. The Geneva Bible did not have extensive annotations or marginal notes that were present in later editions of the Geneva bible, as King James I strongly disliked the political and religious commentary included in the margins, which is why he later commissioned the King James Bible with fewer annotations. Key points about the Geneva Bible: Significant feature: It was one of the first English Bibles to include numbered verses and extensive marginal notes explaining the text. Origin: Published in Geneva by Protestant exiles from England, heavily influenced by John Calvin. Controversy: King James I disliked the Geneva Bible's annotations, considering them too politically charged. The Apocrypha was included in the Geneva Bible, until around 1600, when it was removed by the Puritans who were suspect of the deuterocanonical writings. In the 1500’s there were several English translations that appeared. Including the Tyndale, Bishop and Great Bibles. This was causing confusion and division over which Bible in to use the infant Church of England. So King James, as head of the church, authorized a new translation. (Though it was mostly a revision of the Tyndale Bible.). Also the Geneva Bible was usually printed with “notes and commentaries” that were very unflattering to both the Catholic and Anglican churches. something else the non-Anglican people liked. The King James Bible is often considered "better" than the Geneva Bible primarily because of its more refined translation, based on improved source texts, and its lack of extensive Calvinist annotations which were present in the Geneva Bible and disliked by the Church of England at the time, particularly King James I who commissioned the KJB
Is it beneficial to stack them at all?
That’s damaging for those under a lot of weight. Standing them up is the best storage method, and also provides the easiest access.
What's the title of the book?
Ok
Ive been doing it right this whole time 😂 I just organize them by size
Having to write the title on the pages is proof that it’s a design flaw.
phew good thing i already do this to begin with
Wtf?
Patrick u r great really
"Antiquity" has a specific meaning and it refers to the ancient past, as in earlier than the Middle Ages. Not to be confused with "antique", which deals with the more recent past. The damaged book is an antique but not an antiquity.
Sadly this was a very educational video for me! Thanks.
You would like the book “The Library: A Fragile History”. It talks about the beginning of book collecting shortly after the age of print
Strange advice - how often is there space behind a book? If that’s the case you can push the books either side slightly back and grab the one you want by the spine. What’s the advice for when books are flush against the back of the bookcase (ie. No space to reach behind)?
Omg 😮❤
Finally, an argument with my wife that I have won.
I don't need bookmarks; I read all my books in one sitting. Infinite Jest was a bitch.
