I am proud to say I used to supply Radio Caroline knowing the risk if caught was up to 2 years in clink. My company also looked after their rib and outboard motor. Great times to live through. I grew up with Caroline in the 60’s when there was no other pop music played anywhere. The BBC was crap. The wonderful Labour Government brought out the Marine Broadcasting Offences bill. Making it illegal to have any thing to do with the Pirates.
I was listening the day off the raid, it was heart breaking. Radio in this country is too controlled by a minority group, they seek profit, they will never have the spirit which CAROLINE has. She rocks on today thanks to so many, who believe in the institution of CAROLINE and its ethos. Those who tried to silence her have no morals breaking international law. Independent radio owes so much to the likes of CAROLINE, which they need to be reminded off. Just look at DAB, it has so many black spots when driving around, call this advancement in radio, well that's a laugh :)
The Labour party didn't like free radio, so they banned it ! Socialism at work. !
It must have been scary frightening and terrible to have been violated so badlybby dutch authorities i cannonly hopecanybequipment which wqs removed on thatcfateful day has been rightfully restored to its rightful place on the ship including the record library
Freedom is scaring for the bureaucrats....
A foretaste of what was to come. Governments don't like free people being able to broadcast anything that they don't approve of. It's the establishment line, or nothing.
Boarding a ship in international waters. Which one is the pirate exactly?
They had no right.
Who were the real 'pirates' here??? 😡
It was all over the local amateur radio repeaters in the midlands in the 80's as well 😡
and we're expected to believe that the British government had no part in this.
British government sucks
The ending - where the signal suddenly ends where that guy cuts a wire on the tower - is quite dramatic. TY for posting this clip.
Nobody is cutting a wire on the tower.... the TX was simply switched off. Video images pertain to the building of the aft mast using a gin pole.
The british Gouvernement just Look from His boat. No Help. No Coast guard.
A very sad day.
The UK Government finally got their way by resorting to piracy. Now, they are taking away a lot of our freedom of speech.
The corrupt dutch goverment, its still today.
I never knew they took the masts. It looks as though they only took sections off the top of the big mast. But I has no idea that they had crew trained in aerial rigging to dismantle the antenna!
UK government can raid a ship in international waters playing pop music but can't stop ANY of the hundreds of thousands of migrant dinghies sailing over the past 20 years who come to invade the UK almost daily
So you see where the UK governments priorities are. And its the same with all the other European governments.
This country is "Destination Fucked"
I wouldn't allow them on my boat if I had such a vessel and if they did board, they would not be on for long if they started violence against me. George Orwell was right. Every thing he wrote about, now appears to be coming true. England, in fact, UK citizens are appearing to be losing their freedom, and dictated to by bureaucratic menaces. This needs to stop. Reclaim our freedom.
if that was an american boat, they would have taken fire before they even got close. the crew should have fought like hell and sent this event down in history humiliating the english govt .
You're right. An American crew would have shot hell out of the pirates.
@@fredcloud9668 bloody bits for the tuna
NOOOO< the dutch are great people, they helped the nazzis find all of those jews they were looking for....
Piracy indeed! The raiders were the pirates here, a complete breech of international law. Caroline was a thorn in the side of the UK government for far too long for them and this was their last resort to stop them.
Piracy !
This is brilliant...wow history her!!!!!!
her who ? who are you talking about ?
@@ronanzann4851 they meant "here"
Its incredible that they've done this and also to plunder the inventory...it's disgusting! 🤮 Love to all people of Caroline. ❤
It was a sad day when they took Radio Carolline off the air, the same was done to radio london , bloody BBC only did it because it was free and nobody was listeninng to their boring radio shows, I havent listerned to the radio since they were stopped, sad sad day, Ann Carolan from Southern Ireland,
BBC is stupid
Government acts to protect powerful global commercial interests by assaulting an "illegal" vessel in international waters. Same government stands idly by as illegals swarm small commercial interests on Main Street in the homeland. Welcome to 2023, mate.
As today controlling the narrative is vital to the status quo...
After 02:19 is not the raid I think (e.g. "Volens" is not visible for that bit), but instead the temporary antenna system (that had been put up soon after the original ~300 foot mast collapse) being replaced by a new permanent (much more robust) antenna. I have heard that the raiders had been instructed to dismantle the antenna system but had not done so in practice - because doing so was a much harder job than their boss(es) had imagined.
Yes, I am sure they did not take down the masts. Radio Caroline people can be seen working in these film clips.
And the Dutch ship is not along side when you see people working on the masts
Radio caroline rule today best radio to me..greetings from croatia
This makes me sad again.
Frightening for all on board !
Great video
Were the dutch government ever prosecuted for this action? Was radio caroline compensated?
Your kidding right ?
Yes. Many years later the plundered equipment was returned, much of it back on Ross Revenge, although I don't believe there was any fiscal remediation
hey daniel Sam from the skatepark again - can't seem to find ur new UA-cam channel would love to see the vid if u could send me the link here :)
