I feel like some times we get a good message out of bad stories

It's not animation, but a good show that comes to mind with transfemme characters is the thai drama 23.5 (a lot of Thai dramas have this but this is the one I'm choosing for example), there are two transwoman teachers in the show, both treated with respect and kindness (and their own romantic story). The show itself is really sweet show that I'd say is pretty much age appropriate for anyone (It's maybe PG13 if that by North American rating standards)

... I mean, this just seems like they thought "Hey, what if they did a Ghostbusters-like reboot of a Dolph Lundgren franchise and Dolph Lundgren tried to get in it by crossdressing like Tootsie?" which, I mean, that sounds pretty funny right?

Damn, I wish if they really wanted to use this idea for an episode they twisted it in a way that addressed the negative remarks made towards trans women or even just women who may have traditionally masculine traits. Also that song needs to be thrown out completely or lyrics changed to just about giving Toby a traditionally girly makeover without any jokes related to him being a man/having masculine traits. I know this probably would never happen in a disney show but it would be really cool if at the end of the episode "Tobina" actually came out as a trans woman, maybe explaining that her experience dressing as a woman and being perceived as one felt extremely fitting and validating compared to being seen as "Toby" even when she was extremely successful. I think the "dressing as a woman to manipulate/get a reward" would need to be addressed too, maybe she could mention that Milo and his friends encouraged her to dress as a woman to get the movie roll but being a woman is her authentic self and it's not about the movie roll anymore, she is a woman regardless if she gets the part or not and will continue to live as her authentic self even if some won't accept her (I think that needs to be mentioned too, it would be great if we could just have a trans character and pretend that everyone will be accepting but since this is such an important aspect of being trans it needs to be mentioned even if it's a cartoon that doesn't need to be "realistic"). This wouldn't fix everything and I'm also not a very eloquent writer so I may not have worded this very well (I pray I didn't unintentionally write anything offensive, I'm trans myself so I am speaking from a trans perspective but I'm not a trans woman so I am missing that part of the perspective). Odds are no one will read this since this video is 4 months old but in case anyone did thanks for reading my rambling, if you have any thoughts on this idea I'd love to read what other people think.

Have you seen Soul Eater? Crona was the first nonbinary character i saw in media that wasnt just a robot or alien.

I loved the futurama series as a whole but never really noticed the negative undertones of some situations in episodes and always ended up ignoring them and brushing them off as a joke

I am a fan of both of these shows that never really got into a fandom of any kind of either of them (since fandoms are scary) and honestly I only had the vaguest recollection of this episode when I started watching this video. (to be fair I've only seen season 2 once because once was enough the only thing I'd need to revisit is some of the Dakota/Cavendish stuff. But my beef with season 2 of MML falls on Doofenshmirtz really so I won't get into it.) Looking back on it I feel like a sense of 'Ugh' from my memory so I assume i thought the episode was boring, disjointed, and tonally odd (like you said) at worst and forgettable at best. It really bothers me that this cleared all the vetting stages of making a show since I am a member of the lgbt community and a lot of my friends are trans (though I am not). I really hope that the new Phineas and Ferb doesn't start doing jokes that punch down like this since I am cautiously optimistic about the new seasons.

I watched the show, and then there was something wrong with the episode, so i did not re-watch it when watching the show for the 2nd time i watch.

Baljeet had love given to their character even if they were just tropes. Theres a difference between a bad trope being represented in a fair way, and a trope being represented in a patronizing and disrespectful matter.

4:17 I know this has nothing to do with the video, but I think that making an entire episode being "the pilot but now the characters are devoloped and handle the same situation better" is an AMAZING concept and I love this episode

yeah not the best episode in milo but it was made in a time were trans people were not main stream does not excuse but just give context also kid show so not adults were paying any mid to it

I honestly didn't know Transmisogyny had a name until i saw this video, thank you for bringing it to light! When you first mentioned Ghostbusters: Answer the Call i was scared you were going to diss on it so hard because there was genuinely nothing wrong with the movie, glad it was seen as okay, it honestly didn't deserve so much of the hate it got back then. Also being a longtime fan of MML (I didn't know there was a fandom so I wasn't active in it) I forgot Lady Krillers was an episode at all, it was really forgettable. I feel bad for not seeing anything wrong sooner. I as well agree that the Doofenshmirtz episodes were okay, I was more wrapped up with the Dakota and Cavendish story (when is their wedding I'm still waiting).

yikesssss a lot the comments on this are not it. i love milo murphy’s law but this episode made me so upset. i only watched it once, on my first watch through of the show. as a trans person (transmasc, not transfem) it was so hurtful. i hope dan’s having kids in the lgbtq+ community helps at least him to better understand the harm this episode/stereotyping can do.

From the references to Tootsie to Silence of the Lambs, how did the writers even think kids would understand the context behind any of these jokes? They definitely only made this episode to preach about the female Ghostbusters thing, child audience be damned 💀
