When Pro Cyclists Join The Grind... Things Get Real
Tune into another episode, at The Grind took where 5 pro cyclists joined the local chop ride, humbling us everyday cyclists. What followed was exactly what you'd expect - they pushed the pace hard, formed a breakaway, and showed us what riding at the pro level really means.
The entire ride was full gas, with everyone taking turns at the front and the watts staying consistently high. These aren't the kind of riders you see at local group rides often, so having them show up made for a memorable morning on the bike. Despite the pain (and there was plenty of it), riding with cyclists of this calibre is always a learning experience.
Thanks to the pros for coming out and lifting the pace. My legs might be cooked, but some rides are worth the suffering. If you want to see what happens when pro cyclists join your local group ride, hit play.
Hope you enjoy the chop!

What Happens When Chris Miller & Jesse Coyle Show Up to Your Local Club Ride?
Переглядів 16 тис.14 годин тому
Tune into another episode, where something unusual happened - Chris Miller and Jesse Coyle, you might know them from hosting The Nero Show podcast (@ChrisMillerCycling) showed up to our local CPCC club ride. When Chris texted me to come down, I knew we were in for a hard session in the saddle, however, I didn't know he'd be bringing Jesse too. These boys never do group rides, so having them sho...
I Finally Won a Crit Race

Tune into another episode, at Armory crit race over in Sydney Olympic Park. This time around, the strategy was different - a lesson in patience and race craft. Welcome to smart racing, I guess? Who would've thought. Coming away with my first ever win in C grade, and only my second crit race. A slight change in tactics and it paid off. The final four laps were spicy, breaking away with a Parra P...
Why I HAD To Upgrade to the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro

Tune into another episode, where I dive deep into the world of new action cameras. I recently upgraded to the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro, and let me tell you, it's a game-changer. I sat at my desk for hours, watching review, after review unsure what to do! Eventually I said screw it, especially after numerous comments about poor audio and wind in my videos from using the DJI Action 2, I was eager to...
How Tough is B Grade Racing at Heffron?

Tune into another episode, where I find myself at the infamous Heffron crit track. Heffron really showcased why it's known for creating absolute chaos - a night filled with surprises. Picture this, full gas efforts corner after corner, heart rate through the roof, and legs screaming to sit on someone's wheel. Welcome to crit racing, I guess? Coming away with fourth place in my first B grade cri...
The Reality of My First Race at Westhead

Tune into another episode - and this one's special. My first ever race at Westhead Road Race! I've been talking about racing for what feels like forever, and I finally bit the bullet and did it. Westhead Road Race was literally a last-minute decision (signed up the day before) and if I'm honest, it's not exactly the most favourable course for someone over 90kgs... Anyway, what an experience it ...
Sweet Revenge at Rapha's chop ride aka Flapa

Tune in for episode 3 of the Australian CHOP series, this time on home soil with Rapha. While Rapha unites cyclists in community, Flapa tears up that rulebook. This is no social ride - it's pure survival mode. Keep up or catch up at parkup. Welcome to Flapa, where every rider fights their own battle. After months of toying with the idea, I finally lost my virginity at Rapha''s well known weekly...

Tune in for my first episode back from retirement aka injury, this time tackling the unofficial Bowral Classic event. Little update on how my recovery has been, where my arms at, how my bike is after the crash and then some Sunshine Coast Ironman content. Spewing I couldn't ride 'The Grind' this trip. Solo riding along the coastline to Noosa

Tune in for another episode of my adventures on the bike, this time its solo. After riding The Grind, the A grade guys had told me Perigian ride was a pretty small group, so I thought I'd take an adventure by myself up to Noosa from Mooloolaba. I had never cycled to Noosa so I was venturing into the unknown. The route was amazing, not a single honk or frustrated driver it appeared. Riding the c...

Great camera angle and content. Just I wish had such bikes you ride
Thank you mate, means a lot that you enjoyed the content and the camera angle! Nice to hear positive feedback. Don’t have to have a nice bike to enjoy the sport!
Ayy nice chop mate! I rolled with B when you filmed this, it was my first chop with these guys, definitely rolling with A this coming Saturday - surely you're there?
@@tyronepower2533 Nice mate! B is still a solid ride. Will be there on Saturday, last ride before I head back home 👍🏻
Where are you from? United states??

Those girls are pretty tough
Very tough! Could drop me if they wanted to 🤣
Alistair allready on a Cannnodale - fine
Hahaha LAB 71 don’t mind if I do 😂 would love one myself
Seeing you from Brasil! Well done mate.
Thanks Mate! Great to have you watching from Brasil! 😎 how’s the cycling there 🥳
Smoking legs😂
Legs were toasted after this 🤣
When the level is that high, doesn’t matter what you got between your legs - a specialized whatever costing 15,000 ain’t gunna do you any good if you don’t have the watts.
Find an option to "normalize" the sound level in your clip in whatever software you use for production and use it so the whole clip has the same volume. I lasted 3 minutes and stopped to write this.
@@djkoti74 Appreciate the feedback mate, audio/sound in the clips are going to differ as it is filmed outdoors with wind etc. If you have watched my previous videos, my audio is levels above what it use to be. I also fade music in and out for the voiceovers and speaking sections, otherwise overlayed music is all the same volume. 👍🏻
@@ItsMaxMann When you finish working on your clip, normalize the sound level in the whole clip. It's just one mouse click and it levels the volume in your whole clip, makes a world of difference for everyone listening...I use headphones and its a nightmare when quiet dialog ends and you get hit by extremely loud music, makes the clip unwatchable.
@@djkoti74Will take a look into it next video mate, appreciate it.
I ride mtb with 60-70 rpm, 100 rpm cadence is crazy fast.
@@blue-wanderer4392 for some strange reason I’ve been getting higher and higher cadence but seems to be working 🤷♂️ I used to be 80-85 max
One reason why you're not able to gap the Pro riders, is perhaps that they are pushing a 55t to 56t big rings up front.
@@cecilecorpuz5735 Haha I run a 54T, although even with that I wasn’t catching them. They are too strong and too dialled in, that’s why they are pros 😂 good fun tho

@@DanTuber I enjoy riding the Wilier, it’s a quick bike, however I don’t have much to compare it to. I’ve ridden a Canyon Aeroad and this Filante. Would love to try something else one day for comparison sake. Very strong female riders! Very impressive indeed 👍🏻

@@matkrek Thanks mate, appreciate that. Voiceover is a new thing I’m trying, so glad people are enjoying it 👍🏻
I don’t know how you guys do it, it looks so sketchy with the cars everywhere!
@@naug7 Haha I guess you just get used to it hey, when I first started I found it sketchy but you adapt and learn to be weary of your surroundings ☺️
Thanks Max, I can tell by your comments you are a good student of competitive cycling. I liked your cadence numbers, as most people (the other cyclists in the group) default to a slower rpm when under the pump. 💪
@@paulwild7352 thanks Paul! I’m quite new to competitive cycling, really only been deep in the cycling scene for a year now. Funnily I have been trying to cycle at higher cadence when under the pump as I’ve found it more rewarding than grinding out and getting fatigued earlier 🤷♂️

@ reminds me of back in 2004 when I was doing a MTB race with Western Sydney Club (fittest I’d ever been). I raced in C grade and was lapped in the second lap by an A grader who was absolutely flying. I couldn’t believe how quick he was……turns out he was in the Australian Commonwealth Games team and had finished 6th in the previous Commonwealth Games. It blew my mind the level these top end guys operate at. Always remember though…..these top end guys were beginners who never gave up 👍
@@AndyTychon yeh it’s really something else, you think you are doing well then see someone come past you in Zone 2 which is your zone 5… crazy to think that Pogacar is even stronger than all your local strong riders and would destroy them 🤣
Fantastic one! Very brave of you to ride with the big boys! Keep at it and you will be as fast in no time! 👍
