Clearly people don’t know how hard Joan has been working to help get her nephews out of prison. She still shows up every time she can, and she’s 93. When she did these things, there was little to nothing known about the abuse. She didn’t purposefully screw things up. There is a cold case out there where friends slowed up at a house that 3 women had gone missing from. The friends entered the house, and even though things did seem quite off as the women were gone, leaving behind their cars and purses (this was in 1992) the friends just decided to clean up, clean broken glass outside, etc. one even listened to a message on the answering machine, resulting in the message being deleted after. Often times, people aren’t aware that the things they’re moving, or getting rid of have anything to do with what happened. In both cases, little was known about what happened and why. Nobody did anything on purpose.

The more I learn about this case and watch their testimonies the sadder I feel for these two. They actually seem like genuinely sweet people who were driven to a desperate act from years of horrendous abuse. I think they are 100% telling the truth, and they were treated fairly by the justice system in their 2nd trial. They were also harangued by the media for being spoiled brats and having crocodile tears when these are some of the most vulnerable interviews I’ve ever seen. Lyle didn’t even want to talk about any of it at first. He would have rather just gone to jail than expose these things.
