Lake and Lodge Garage is my personal UA-cam channel where I share my passion for cars and my latest restoration project - a 1967 Firebird. Growing up in a racing family, I've been a car enthusiast my entire life. I eventually got to a point where I built and drove my own Late Model Stock Car.
After completing a three-year home building project with my wife, I decided it was time to take on a new challenge and restore a classic car. As I prepared to work on the Firebird, I found myself relying heavily on the knowledge transfer available on UA-cam. I decided to create my own channel to document my experience and share what I've learned with others who are passionate about car restoration.
While the Firebird project is the main focus of the channel, I also plan to share other interesting content related to my hobbies and interests. I hope my videos inspire and help others who are considering a similar project. Thank you for tuning in and joining me on this journey.

Fitting out a metal 'carport' building for use as a full work shop

Quick overview of the steps i did to take a structure that was intended to be used as a carport and convert it to a full blown, heated, vehical work shop. I was not doing youtube at the time but i did have a number of photos so I put this together because i get a lot of questions about the construction of the shop. I later converted the right bay into a multisue, DIY, paint booth and there are ...

Do you have the frame design plans available for sale ?
Yeah I tried the black oxide and it didn’t work good for me idk what I did wrong only thing I did diff than you was I blasted my parts so when I put them in like you the water and oxide didn’t turn. Black like yours it got cloudy and when I took them out the black came off the bolts when I dried them do you have any idea what I did wrong any help would be great
Looks great!
Major progress! Very nice
Looking sweet, brother
i installed the cold case rad in my 67 Bird (455), luv it and it fixed my overheat issue vs the 4core copper. however i did not use their fan kit, be aware of the fan kits that are sold, they don’t pull the cfm required to keep the water cold. if you would like to see my setup let me know. FYI: i’m also using a fan controller to vary the fan speed from 60% 100% power based on the temp settings. otherwise Great Work!!!
Looks great
Great work, nice and simple, easy access and most importantly clean install.
I have had the best of luck with COLD CASE. The best so far. I think they are made in China now!! Not U.S.A mad anymore
cold case is designed in PA and outsource to China for manufacturing to save $. I know it stinks.
Liking that splatter paint. Trunk turned out great.👍
Yeah I’d be nervous to put crash wrap on that paint too. Bird’s looking gorgeous man
Be careful putting plastic on fresh paint it’s likely still off gassing and can cause problems like solvent pop or even delaminating from what I have read, don’t know that to be factual but something to think about.
@@MrFireman164 yeah I am aware. I waited 8 days before I put it on there for exactly that reason. But I was flirting with disaster not having it on there. I plan to pull it off again today when I am done for the weekend. Risk Reward thing…. But thank you for watching out for me. Your input is always welcome Roger!
Is it possible the trunk and hood hinges would look better body color ?
Looking great. What pedal setup did you us3 for the 6 sped. I’m doing the same in a 70 nova. Thanks for any help on the install.
the pedal assembly came from classic industries. then I used a hydraulic clutch setup from McCloud. seems like a good setup so far
Great progress
Where is you get the LS gas pedal bracket from? I have a 67 Camaro I’m in the middle of redoing and will ride on a Roadster Shop SPEC chassis.

Man that car looks beautiful great job on the paint thank you for the shout out I don't know everything about these cars but I know a thing or two
Awesome progress Mike. I’m envious. 👍
Great job Roger. I love the graphics
Looking good!!! Question for you, episode 41 or so where you were installing the seat back bracket…. Did you ever figure out what the 2 little brackets for?
I did, those are used to reinforce the lower connection between the wheel tubs and the seat brace. kind of gives you more material to weld to. But because I used mini tubs I had to cut away so much material down there on the seat brace those were not usable for me. thanks for watching!
Spatter looks good
Great job on the trunk brother I might use the same spray can
Love you build, thank you for all the detail
I meant love your build, great content full of detail, helps demistify the products used.
I know I'm a day late, and a dollar short, but I would have investigating having the graphic printed on PPF (Protective Paint Film) and covered at least the quarters if not the whole car. You would have had options for adding colors to the graphic or changing it if you grow tired of it, or God forbid the next owner wants something different - Haha.
@@andrewthomas1263 lol. Yeah that probably would have been the “smart play”. But I’m having fun with it! Thanks for watching.
That bird is looking amazing. Can’t wait to see it in the daylight. Your really doing an over the top job on this bird. Congratulations on finishing the painting. 👍
That looks real awesome Hass!!
Great job brother she is looking sexy 😍
Just keeping my 'hands dirty' now brother... Ton of stuff to do but being careful to enjoy the journey because for me that's what this is all about.
@LakeAndLodgeGarage Amen too that brother enjoy yourself building the bird
Looking good brother nice work
Thanks Man! A lot of your influence in this paint job. Love your stuff!
A young man on You tube (Ok speed and custom) done a quickie rebuild on his late fathers 68 firebird. He's done suspension and paint, he still has interior left. You should check out his channell I'm sure you could give him some ideas and tricks on the firebirds. His firebird is satin gold metalic. You all could be firebird buddies.
Lol cool! I will defiantly check that out. thanks for watching.
@@LakeAndLodgeGarage Your welcome I like learning little tricks you know. The firebird I was telling you about was actually built on his best friends channel last month his channel is (Puddins fab shop) they are best friends.Your bird is looking great, I cant wait till final fit and assembly gets started.
Great idea on the jig, Mike. I struggled a bit fitting the glass into the frame, but ended up using wd-40 on the inside and outside of the rubber channel, installing the channel onto the glass and fitting the glass into the frame. Took a gamble and used a rubber mallet to drive the glass into the frame completely. One other suggestion: I used weatherstrip adhesive like a contact cement on the frame and the last channel that the door glass rides up and down in. I once had an F150 that had that channel slide up and down as you operated the door glass. Very annoying!
hmmm that's a good idea. even some black silicone on the top couple inches would do the trick.. I will do that. Thanks Charlie!
Great job brother I will bring my 67 to you so you can do it nexts
@@firstgenerationgarage2803 I will send you my jig.
@@LakeAndLodgeGarage thanks
Great vid. Original frames or aftermarket everything?
@@davidbrown-55 oh. Good point! All the frames and parts for the vent windows were original GM parts from the original car with the exception of the seals and weather stripping. Thanks for watching
The jig was amazing. Being able to come up with that on the fly is next level engineering. I'm pretty sure that's something only one in 10k people could invent. I have a HHR with tinted windows with a smilar color and it looks really nice.
@@jimmyjam813 yeah that was one of those things that is not available to any one but if you think about it you could build a similar jig by screwing some 2x4s to a piece of plywood now that someone can see how it works. Thanks for watching
@@LakeAndLodgeGarage My best friend is building a 71 GTO convertable with wing windows, I let him know they come tinted now. They have a really clean look.
Very cool. Your hands will be sore for a few days after that. Looking good!
You’re taking a lot of heat on the bird. It’s not for me, but it’s your car. Enjoy!
I know right?!?! but to be fair I asked for input. its not for everyone that is for sure but I think it adds some thing interesting to the build. thank you Charlie!
I really like the color. Might have to try that clear. Nice work!
🤢
Looks awesome.
Good for you doing what the fuck you want to!
@@MrFireman164 I even quoted you! 😂
You are correct my brother all the hard work we put into our cars at the end the one that needs to be happy is the Builder screw everybody else
The paint from summit is good paint made by sherwin -williams
Hood looks good, no bueno on the bird. Doesn’t fit the nostalgia of the car. My opinion.
😂 love the comments, the hood is for sure awesome, the bird is super cool but is a big step outside the box, and If you don’t care about the 📦 then rock on because you gotta be happy, you will likely catch a lot of grief at shows tho from old school car people
Not a fan of the bird to me totally ruins the look of the car
The hood looks good. The graphic, for me is too much. Being in a 67 F Body already gives a high enough level of "Hey look at me". That's putting it in / \ stance crowd or Carolina squat levels of why the hell...
Love the graphics except for the bird. I don't hate it, I actually think it is pretty awesome, but I wonder how something like that would look up front on the fenders instead? Kind of like flames or other graphics, they usually start in the front and go back to give the car a look of forward motion even when it is sitting still. Although, the Mopars had that big billboard stripe on the back and it works great for them so maybe go for it?! lol Either way, looking awesome and can't wait to see it cleared, it is going to look amazing!!!!
To me it looks totally different from any other bird and please always remember build a car how you want to it's your car have fun with it and at the end you are the one that needs to be happy 😊 😃
100%🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Definitely unique. As I’m fond of saying… “You Gotta Do YOU”. Don’t listen to others, trust your gut and do what makes you happy. 🍻
That looks kick ass!
love the hood hate the quarters
Please don't put that bird on the side of that car. It's terrible.
