Some easy explanation for noobs (might even be overcomplicated? idk) Gain = sensitivity = ISO on your camera - Insufficient gain -> noise; Too much gain -> overexposure = clipping/peaking/overload/distortion Gate = bluescreen on your TV - Automatic shut-off when there's no signal coming in Comp = what your parents do when you're watching TV at home - Turns down the volume automatically when it's too loud EQ = Bass/midrange/treble adjustment ----EQ Gain: Add or remove & How much ----EQ Frequency: The exact pitch you want to manipulate ----EQ Q/Bandwidth: Wide range / Pinpoint control Fader = volume knob Mute = on/off switch for the corresponding channel / bus Solo = pick a channel and listen to it only Mix/Bus= a proportional combination of all the sound coming from different channels Pre-fader mix = a full independent mix, unaffected by the main mix Post-fader mix = a mix with "relative" volume control, 0dB = the same amount of sound as what's in the main mix Matrix = A mix of mixes
This is an outstanding tutorial. I just started using this board in church and you have helped me tremendously with and easy to understand way of learning. Thanks so much
Good day sir, I have a question, When I use an analogue mixer, the master fader level meter reaches almost at around -3db , in the yellow range, But since I started using the Si impact, it only reaches the 3rd fader - 24 dB from buttom
So I have mixes 15 & 16 going out to the FOH cabs or course. But I need a second set of stereo outs to go to the audio interface to stream. I've only been able to copy and paste to 13 & 14, but I need that mix to not have 2 on the input channels. How do yo0u do a second stereo out mix in a lower set of outputs between 9 and 14 of course, with less mics included?
I have carefully read the instruction booklet of the Si Impact mixer but I don't understand if one thing is feasible. I would need for a hybrid event (in presence and on zoom) that will also go live streaming two scheduled mono releases: a) one that goes to the atem mini extreme via a Panasonic video camera equipped with an xlr port which must have all audio sources including the audio source with zoom b) one with all audio sources without the zoom audio. How can I do ?
Sorry man... but more than half of your video is spent "explaining" what is the Low Cut, Phantom Power or how the EQ and the Compressor/Gate works? Seriously now? Please stick to the point: a tutorial of the console itself! There are thousands of other "how to" videos regarding using EQs, compressors etc.
This is just a reupload of this video from 2016, and with no credit to the original, pretty scummy: ua-cam.com/video/5PhqRiINJsA/v-deo.html this is the original
Thank you for this video. I'm one of those guys making the switch from analog to digital. The parts about the EQ and Compressor are particularly helpful.
Thanks for an awesome video. Just got dumped running a new board for praise team. Your vid helped a lot. Can’t wait to get back to it and fix the mixes!
This is a very good tutorial video. He does a great job of making the explanations clear, concise and yet complete. I have trained audio teams for decades, and this makes the transition from old analog to digital much easier.
