A ~quick explainer video. I kept playing around with this, swapped the voice to the Basimilus Iteritas Alter, and from that we made New York New York, also posted here on my YT.
Sq-1 x Basimilus Iteritas Alter x Scales x Varigate - "New York New York"
Переглядів 1,5 тис.3 роки тому
This track started off with one of the comments on an earlier video, about using SQ-1 to sequence Eurorack. Inspired me to connect up the SQ-1 to Scales (I like forcing everything to a scale, enjoy "jamming the scale" on the Scales module), and use the Basimilus as the melodic voice (with some modulation using the Varigate). The video is a recording of the jam I did, but then we produced this i...

Such a gorgeous instrument. Recorded first a melody then simple bass line w Midi, then on playback just jamming a high note and modulations.

2hp Turing Machine tutorial, for humans
Переглядів 9 тис.3 роки тому
2hp Turing Machine, Intellijel Scales, Varigate, Basimilus Iteritas Alter eurorack, explained. Explanation upfront, first 15 minutes, jam towards the end ... the jam finds its groove at 32 minutes, just after I say "well, I think we lost the plot"... as usual:)
Techno jam on Subsequent 25 & eurorack (2hp Turing Machine, Varigate, Intellijel Scales)
Переглядів 3,1 тис.3 роки тому
The Sub25 has awesome midi control but you can also create awesome grooves w CV. Here I'm generating just an A note (and octaves) on the Turing Machine, then modulating velocity and filter cutoff from the Varigate. A lot of work in production (drums etc) not captured in the video. Full track is on my soundcloud - @upatdusk.
Mutable Instruments Marbles tutorial, for humans

How I jam with Marbles. Made this for a friend who's new to CV and eurorack. Maybe it'll be useful for a few others.

Subharmonicon + Space Echo + SH-101

free jam on the Moog Subharmonicon. Delay & reverb on the Space Echo. The bass drum is the SH-101
Didn't watched yet, but the title sold it to me lol
done!
The hysteria vco sounds a lot like a cello or viola in this instance.
Drunk drummer 🤣 Great demo. Thanks!
hah, thanks!
I am atotal Nooob so this helped me so much. It is really overwelming when your just starting. More vids like this please everyone. Cheers
This is the bible for Marbles, thanks!
Thank you!
Great work man, really helpful! Thanks!
Excellent chaos control
hah - thanks!
Is the Moog connected to the sequencer?
Yes. This track is the eurorack sequencer driving the sub 37
@@bartdecrem4092 cool 👍
Pico DSP SUCKSSS.
Great explanation !

👍👍🏻👍🏼👍🏽👍🏾👍🏿

What if I don’t want marbles triggering constantly How do you make it trigger note then skip a few etc. so it’s not so monotonous.
Did you find an answer?
Finally, something I can follow along to, and I have similar modules.
I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Are you using the quantize function on the Hysteria module, or is Marbles sending quantization of the scale? Also, how are you using the Sinc Bucina?
Hi John, my favorite quantizer module is Scales by Intellijel, which I think is hard to find these days. I don't like the built-in quantizer in Marbles - the UI makes it fussy to control for my taste. I think I used Hysteria for this session. And I used the sinc as a simple envelope generator IIRC
Best tutorial yet on marbles. Easy to understand and I love the jam! Subscribed!
hey thanks!
You deserve a subscribe as you made a nice video for Marbles without overwhelming the viewer with tons of modules and cables.
Great video
🙏
This is one of my all time favs really nice melody and sound!
THANK YOU - your comment made my day!
Thank you!
incredibly helpful. Thank you for putting this in terms that make sense.
my pleasure! jam on!
Lovely Doors album in sight behind the modular too
thanks! Courtesy of discogs :)
Tick Tick Tick Dee Dee. Love it ❤ Great video.
thanks!
So what exactely comes from this modules in this video, in real time?
Why your voice is so loud? Music should be louder
No. It’s fine actually
Very cool!😄 Thanks for sharing! What are you using for the drums? They sound great too.
Sadly, the answer is: my producer friend (Pedro Arbulu, super talented and knows how to make drums so snappy and full of energy)
@@bartdecrem4092 Not sad at all! It's great to have collaborators who do awesome things.
i can't get it to do much. maybe i need a tides instead but idk..
Fastest way to get it under control is to add a quantizer after marbles- I use the discontinued intellijel scale, but there’s also 2hp tune and many others. And don’t be afraid to hit that upper right button to lock in a sequence and then just knob mash and use it like a live instrument
Getting tides is not going to make anything better.
tik-tik-tik, or teeeee teeeeee 👍
Hahaha
very🙃💙cool
Thank you!
Thank goodness for this tutorial! well explained 🙌
I spent so much time figuring out the module. Then yesterday I had yet another really fun jam with it. It is literally my desert island instrument: I would keep it over my model d or anything else in my studio.
@@bartdecrem4092 Yeah I got mine a couple days ago, paired it with clouds, Elements and Ochd and it just sounds fantastic !
My biggest question is how you fit a 2hp module into a 4ms pod. I've tried MIX and ARP, both are to deep. I haven't tried my TM yet. Now, back to actually learning about the module, lol.
Omg that is the worst when the modules don’t fit because of case depth. I’ve had this problem with the moog cases and also w 4ms. 4ms sells a deeper version of their cases, so that what I have. They are not as elegant looking tho
So good
🙏
Excellent demo mate 🤙
thank you for the kind words!
Amazing!
thank you!!
super-helpful and give some new perspectives on using my Marbles instead of losing them :)
This is outstanding. Thank you so much for such a comprehensive explanation.
the Last Poets tho.. good record
This is such a helpful guide for a beginner! Thanks!
Thank you! I made it for a friend originally and then decided to post, on a lurk
@@bartdecrem4092 well I'm glad you decided to post it, because I think this just finalized my decision to buy one!
With what are you clocking Marbles?
Ableton
I think i was using a Midi-CV breakout module for that. Or maybe I was using a TR-8s as the in-between.
@@bartdecrem4092 Excuse my ignorance, but how!? 😄 I'm looking to get into modular and my first concern is how to actually sync all of these wonderful creations with a session on my computer. You say Ableton, but how is Ableton actually sending that clock information to Marbles, through another module off screen or straight from your audio interface? I'm confused 🤦♂️
Super demo and track.
Very nice!
I just received mine today, tried to wing it and came running to this video for help! I love how you laid out the simple signal path and just kept evolving the sound while you explained the functions. Thank you!!
I Love this explanation with a barebones limited skiff. This is great for beginners. I hope to see more.
I’m trying to wrap my head around TM in general and the sequencer. If the TM is creating the random sequence, what is the sequencer doing? I’m trying to decide if a Turing machine is what I want or Marbles. Thanks for the video.
I think he is using the sequencer OUT2 and OUT4 as both a trigger output to the TM (which spits out a random note whenever it gets a trigger) and to trigger the BIA, and the OUT1 to control the BIA decay (which is CV controlled)
wait where is the output of the dsp ?
Indeed - fake video with backup track 😂
This way we can get rid of the high end freaky stuff" :-)... well actually you're right!
I think this mini patch unlocked a ton of missing concepts I was missing.
Sounds great!
Very good, everything well explained, good job!
Hats off for Last Poets album in the background! I do hope you've heard the Be-Yond-Er section from "Delights of the Garden" - It's fucking amazing. Sadly, youtube demands it be split. On my CD copy, it's listed as 3 tracks, but plays uninterrupted as a single track that lasts almost 19 minutes. It's best heard as a single track.
Beautiful
