    Sorry to say, but those security gards on the outlets stops heavy wet snow, and must be of when snow is heavy. It can still be some clogging but a lot better. Shear pins are harder than cheap bolts, cheap bolts do not last for more than som minutes. I have tested it. 😄 Snow blowing against the wind blinds you, it is one of the first lessons you learn. If the tractor have an open cab you get a good chill down your neck too.😄 Its as effective as spitting or pissing into the wind, its not a good idea.

    I tried to buy one of these units back in 2022. Unfortunately it was around fall when I went out shopping for one and all the dealers said all allocations were already accounted for. They said I would have to order a year in advance. I live in Canada and we do get lots of snow. Most of the dealers only had the 28" and smaller in stock at the time so I just bought the 28" track drive model. It's still a beast and nothing compared to the 36" Hybrid but I'm glad I still went with Honda. The snowblower I had previously was also a Honda track 24" drive bought new in 2007. There was nothing wrong with it except it was too small, so I gave that away to my brother.

    Your chute clogging issue can be remedied by lining the inside of the chute with 3/8"(9.53mm) slippery UHMW polyethylene sheet secured by 5/16" (7.94mm) diameter elevator bolts. In the US elevator bolts have a 1-5/8" (41.28mm) diameter thin, strong head with a square shank just under the head. The head can be recessed flush into the UHMW-PE with a forstner drill bit, then drill the 5/16" thru hole, and then a 5/16" morticing chisel to square off the thru hole so the square shank of the elevator bolt sits in the square hole prohibiting the bolt from rotating while tightening the nut securely. Slippery polyethylene is what many snow sleds and the base material (P-TEX) on alpine skies are made from, the snow will not stick to the inside of your chute no matter how wet or dry. I would also secure a piece of UHMW-PE to the larger flat part of each impeller blade and if there is enough clearance line the cylindrical drum the impeller operates inside. While installing this lining will take some time it will prevent downtime in the winter and save you from having to replace shear bolt as well. Hope this helps.

    • @InTheVise
      @InTheVise 9 днів тому

      @@chrisdaniel1339 Hi! Thank you for the comment! Sounds like a good idea. 👍 I have seen this on the newer models of Yamaha snowblowers (walk behind), although a lot thinner material. This should be standard or an optional accessory on all higher quality snowblowers!

    • @chrisdaniel1339
      @chrisdaniel1339 9 днів тому

      @@InTheVise Not only is UHMW-PE slippery(it is used for plain bearings), it is very rugged, highly abrasion resistant(more than steel in some applications), it is moldable with heat, and does not get brittle in winter temperatures. TIVAR is a brand name of UHMW made by Mitsubishi Plastics, TIVAR is so abrasion resistant it is used on the cutting edges of snowplows so it does not damage asphalt or concrete. You might be able to use a bit thinner UHMW-PE, you would just need enough for the counterbore for the bolt head, have enough thickness to secure the plastic in place without crushing it too thin, and to have a very long wear life so you never have to replace the plastic lining. Snow and ice are not very abrasive, however gravel and sand are. If you do undertake this project please post a video(s) so we can all see the progress, the difference in casting distance, and performance increase.

    In my opinnion these type of snow blowers are the secon worst design ever - first you have to get with tractor thrue the deep snow and by doing that you compact the snow and only after try to remove it with snow blower - some how it just sounds wrong way to do it... front mounted or in revers is a lott better design end efficiency

    • @InTheVise
      @InTheVise 10 днів тому

      It is pros and cons with this style. It works very good when you get normal amounts of snow. If you should back up all the time, it will give you a sore neck, and it is impossible in headwinds. Front mounted is of course the way to go, but requires PTO, hydraulic and hydraulic front mount, which most tractors doesn’t have.

    When the blower is new or repainted, use many coats of car wax in the shoot. Really helps not to clog. And yes, low gear when ever snow blowing with any HP tractor. Any higher gear and you are damaging the engine, turbos, PTO, and transmission. It will say so in your tractor manual. "USE LOW RANGE"
