I colored my natural hair initially and then loc'd my hair. I can not remember if bleach was used.

Naturally I have really thick hair. I am not sure the type as I never got into the 'technicality' of my hair type but I'll find that out! I used to palmroll for maintenance. Your locs will definitely get full overtime, patience is key! Within the first 6 months to a year, you will be seeing a lot of changes. Love every step of your Journey ❣️

@@JourneyofRise I appreciate your response. It really is helpful. I know last night my sister washed and retwist my hair. She said it felt rough or hard. I noticed I have more budding then I had two months ago since she done my hair last. So it concerned me a bit. Just wanted to get your experience , even though all of our experiences are unique to us. Constantly learning and enjoying the process.

Very Impressive. I heard about the herbs but I haven't tried it as yet. I honestly prefer retwisting with oil and water, I really don't need the gel. I never tried the water alone though; for my next retwist, I will try and see how it goes. Thank you so much for sharing♥♥ #nobuildup

@@JourneyofRise ayurvedic herbs have been a game changer in the health of my hair. Oils in my opinion cause a lot of the buildup that people have in general. I think a lot of us have been conditioned to think that we "need" oils but we truly don't . Your body knows exactly what to do and it produces sebum just right. No oil in my opinion can duplicate sebum. I honestly believe a lot of that stuff honestly just coats the scalp doing nothing but suffocating it. It's more of a placebo effect. Oils in addition to hair products will equal a plethora of buildup. Even people who use oils alone are always shocked that they still might have buildup. Saturate with tea or water, clip your hair and let it dry, take the clips out and your hair is perfectly retwisted. My loctician has even started using water or teas now because she saw how my hair comes out. She honestly didn't know either. Lol. So cool to put her onto something.

@@JourneyofRise I purchase mine from a local Indian store of some of the time, from Amazon. Steeping for example Hibiscus is the easiest thing to do! You can spray your locs with Hibiscus tea. Right now, I am using a lot of Cloves and Bay leaves and it makes my locs soooooooooo soft. I looove it.
