6 Savior I See You

About the Song: Savior I See You is an original song written by our guitarist, Steve Chowning. Poetry in song could best describe this piece about someone who has a desperate desire to know God. "Savior, I see you and I know that I need you. So please help me to find you." A very nice duet by Steve & Debbie with backup harmonies by Jess & Ellen. Selah is a band comprised of students of Californ...
5 Slave - Maranatha

About the song: Slave is an original song written by our band leader and bass player Jess Blasingame. We tagged the song Maranatha, made popular by LoveSong, to the end, which makes a nice pairing of music. I would say that this song could be considered one of my favorites. It has an intense, raw, musical appeal and lyric. The urgency of the message is timeless along with the classic music styl...
4 There is Only One Answer
Переглядів 13010 років тому
About the song: There is Only One Answer was one of those songs that were passed along in youth group meetings at the church. We do not know where the song came from or who wrote it. The only credit we can give is to God. The song is typical Folk Rock and the lyric like the common message of the day- protest against tyranny and discontent. However, this message provides an answer to the age old...

Superb musicianship, incisive lyrics, powerful message. The passion and energy that are conveyed are reminiscent of those early Jesus Music days when slick production and stylized genre music trends had not yet cast their shadow over what has become contemporary Christian music. Can we ever be Adam again? Thank the LORD - yes and more as He dwells in us and is our Tree of Life from which we can now eat freely.

During the days at California Baptist College, I can't help but wonder the miracle God was performing in the lives of four Christian young people, who by perchance formulated a Gospel Rock Folk band in an in prompted jam session on the lawn of the college campus. Our four lives converged and we became Selah a Christian Rock Band sponsored by the Ministry department of the Baptist Student Union. This song is particularly interesting, because most of our music was original compositions collected from our musical experience. The 23rd psalm being more familiar, was suggest by our director Joe. He asked if we would consider playing it. We took the music and lyric to rehearsal. As we played around with it we gave Ellen the lead. She has a beautiful, piercingly smooth soprano voice. Once she began singing the first verse, I decided I could come in on the second verse with a tight folk harmony. A perfect blend of song, capturing the piercingly smooth highs and enchantingly mellow lows of melodic harmony. After a mere 47 years, I'm reminisce the good times we had singing and sharing the Word of God through song. I can't help but meditate on the meaning of this familiar 23rd Psalm. Although we've come to love the simplicity of the words there is greater meaning behind each phrase. Here is my paraphrase of Psalm 23. The Lord is my Sheppard. He will abundantly and forever take care of all my needs. He leads me through restful green pastures and sublime streams, where He strengthens my faith in Him, so I may walk the path He has laid before me to bring glory an honor to His name. When the path becomes too hard to bear in everyday living, even so, in the face of death, I will never be afraid. Nor will I let fear guide me, for He resides close beside me, going before me and behind me, totally surrounding me with His guidance and protection. The lessons learned through life, guided by His rod and staff, bring lasting comfort to me. As I keep steadfast in loving faithfulness and abiding service, He sets a feast before me as a lasting testimony to me and my enemies to His abiding love and faithfulness. You honor me with your Holly spirit, with the anointing of oil and abiding presence, to the point I'm overwhelmed by your loving faithfulness, honor, and blessed hope. Your goodness, mercy and loving kindness will forever guide me all the days of my life as I abide in the Lord forever. Amen.

I've always assumed that this song was written about Michael's friend Annie Herring from the 2nd Chapter of Acts band. Michael was also recognized as one of the music industries premier producers in the 80s. He produced Christopher Cross' album "Sailing" and played piano on Steely Dan's album "Aja" !! Awesome musician.

I bought "Adam Again" LP in 1976 at a department store that carried some Jesus Music albums (cheaper than Christian bookstores) and nearly wore it out playing this song repeatedly; awesome production and instrumentation! Definitely a "crank it up" song! Eleven years later I met Stormie and she mentioned that she and Michael no longer had this album as well as "White Horse". Oddly enough I recalled seeing those two LPs collecting dust, still in shrink wrap, at a hidden-away Christian bookstore, so I purchased them and get them to Stormie a week later. She was amazed and grateful. This couple are two of my Heros of the Faith!

I used to manage a bible bookstore in the 70's until 1983. After hours I would put the 8 tracks and cassettes in the music system and crank them up full blast. Wow. What an experience. Michael (broke my heart when he went to producing secular but I understood), Rez Band, Larry Norman and Randy Stonehill - and of course - D.A. (Daniel Amos)! The best time in my life!

This was the first Christian artist/music that I listened to as a born again believer in like 1976 and wound up he is probably one of the best musicians out the bunch. Me and my best friend went to a Christian Bookstore(when they had them hah)and picked out "White Horse" not even knowing who that was(we liked the LP cover) and WOW I bought everything I could find by him after that....great arranger/keyboardist/writer and also I have to give credit to Stormie his wife for I believe writing all of his lyrics !! thanks for posting his music Debbie :-)

You and me we use so very many clumsy words. The noise of what we often say is not worth being heard. When the Fathers Wisdom wanted to communicate His love, He spoke it in one final perfect Word. Chorus: He spoke the Incarnation and then so was born the Son. His final word was Jesus, He needed no other one. Spoke flesh and blood so He could bleed and make a way Divine. And so was born the baby who would die to make it mine. And so the Fathers fondest thought took on flesh and bone. He spoke the living luminous Word, at once His will was done. And so the transformation that in man had been unheard Took place in God the Father as He spoke that final Word. Chorus: He spoke the Incarnation and then so was born the Son. His final word was Jesus, He needed no other one. Spoke flesh and blood so He could bleed and make a way Divine. And so was born the baby who would die to make it mine. Bridge: And so the Light became alive and manna became Man. Eternity stepped into time so we could understand. Chorus: He spoke the Incarnation and then so was born the Son. His final word was Jesus, He needed no other one. Spoke flesh and blood so He could bleed and make a way Divine. And so was born the baby who would die to make it mine.
