Americans Bee
United States
Приєднався 16 січ 2021
Just like us Americans, Bee colonies are made up from many types of bees that all come together to make the colony stronger. They have different jobs and have different genetics that all benefit the one colony that is the living body of the hive. I hope to spread awareness and help educate as many beekeepers and non-beekeepers as I possibly can through this channel. I have found bees to be very relaxing and therapeutic for mental healing.
An unboxing video for the Hillco 40 inch uncapping tank

An unboxing video for the Hillco 40 inch uncapping tank
Honestly, I'm a little dissatisfied with the condition the uncapping tank came it. the box appeared fine, but it must have been dropped and slammed onto the honey gait because it was dented inward quit severely. I needed to use a rubber mallot to reshape the end wall so the gait was no longer smashed inwards and was flush and the gait was pointing downward a tad instead of upwards.
I needed to realign some edges on the lid as well.
overall, the $799 price tag I feel is a little high, and now as of today, the price has been increased to $869!!! It NEEDS better packing, such as foam on the end to protect the honey gait.
Part two will be the actual usage. However, I'm confident that will be as described.
Overall, I will be happy in the end, I'm just glad I'm able to fix the small issues myself.

Making and Torching bee frames. Some other updates as well.
Yes. I think the problem is the mixture of glycerine abd OA before heating. On next preparetion I will heat the glycerine before mixing. Thanks.
Yeah, it's definitely helpful to heat the Glycerine first. Let me know how it works next time.
Even I heat until 47C the material is still milky. I had waited 2 haurs for it but still it doesn't melt. What can be the problem?
Did you do 1 part glycerin to 1 part OA? Equal by weight?
Love this. I'm making a set for my apiary
How many hives do you have to make that much sugar syrup? About how long will that last?
43. All made it through winter alive. They got 1 gallon feed.
It will last for a little while, a couple weeks in the cold weather.
Where can I buy your honey in Kennewick?
Right now, at Bergan's Timeless Treasures in downtown Kennewick. Also, at Farmhand winery in Kennewick. They are only open Saturdays.
Happy bees
BTW, the bees i scooped out didn't make it, sadly.
Cant wait to see her again!!
Goodies for the bees 😊
She hatched with the red dot on 😂
Cooling gas falls out? Interesting... may bee a way to study hive air exchanges.😊
Interesting indeed. Like how dry ice flows down over stages maybe.
Those bees are doing grape😂
You bees don't have to go far for grape juice 😂
Freshly made!! She Queen loves the wine!! Haha
Do you have a video or a plan on how to build this? Looks fabulous
No, because it didn't work well and failed. I wouldn't recommend it for bees, other than a swarm trap, which is what mine is now.
I've noticed a lot of your hives have a blue entrance device. Could/would you do a video on this entrance device explaining it to us?
I dont use those anymore. They are called Hyfegate. Fred Dunn has many videos about them. Check his channel out.
Interesting container for a long Langstroth hive. ❤❤❤
Thank you, sadly it didnt work out as imagined.the bees over wintered well but it's a swarm trap now.
@@AmericansBee I currently have 6 LLHs and plans to add 4 more this year. My local beekeeper club has asked for a LLH for their training apiary too.
At least you didn't have to pound out the dent in your UltraMax. I can say much about the freight company. I got my UltraMax after the season was over so I'm looking forward to using mine this season (2023). 😊 ua-cam.com/video/Uh9RlDtUSeE/v-deo.html Love the space you have. My honey shed is the 11x8 storage room at one end of my wood shop. There must be something about us big boys and their toys: ua-cam.com/video/Qcy2h04zkXM/v-deo.html I don't see a part 2 video. I'm interested in the amount of honey that you've extracted from 18 frames? It's been published that I can shoe horn 12 deep frames in to the UltraMax. I've extracted 5 gallons of honey from 10 deep frames last season. I think that 12 frames is going to over flow a 5 gallon bucket. What was your experience with the strainer on the bucket like? How fast does a 5 gallon bucket fill up?
How big are the holes in the tint plug?
1/16th drill bit. Place as many as you think is necessary. The thinner, the less you want to make, the thicker the more you want to make.
What are orientation flights?
Bees, after hatching, will live inside the hive for about 2 weeks or so. Afterward, they will begin to leave the hive to graduate to a "forager." Before they leave, they need to orient themselves to where they live. So, they fly in figure 8 patterns to see where they came out of and learn how to get back to their hive. After a day or two, they become full-time foragers.
Oh, thank you for explaining this, my bees have been doing this the last couple of days.😅 I didn't know what they were doing lol.
@Caveman 53 absolutely!!! one of the best things about having bees is watching their orientation flights.
Love to bee line their flight path 😊
can i ask what type of hinges you used?
Just a heavy gait hinge. I attempted two but settled on one. The shape of the barrel prevents the use of two.
They busy bees 😊
It was absolutely awesome today!! Usually, the cold doesn't allow them to get much pollen from the maples.
I'm gonna get some bee's.. Fixing my yard up for bee's, chickens.. Any hints, tips for what plants I need
Go to your local nursery and see what plants the bees are on. Ask the experience workers there what ones work well. Avoid any modified plants that make "better flowers " the bees prefer more native or original plant flowers. I noticed in my area that they love purple colored flowers. Plants with a lot of flowers are better.
Elms are blooming but the maples sap is flowing
Paying homage
Yellow snow
I also give them dry pollen they love it
Funny thing is, many reports of same colored pollen coming in in the area. So, Likely natural.
@@AmericansBee yeah mine are bringing in pollen also natural and substitute I'm in south jersey
Garlic...some evergreens and holly

Lol, It would feel wonderful!!! You definitely need to keep them away!! Thanks for commenting.
It’s a nice product for sure. You had the same unboxing experience that I had looks like.
Hey thanks for commenting sir!! I am amazed how nice it is!! Super quiet too. The audio enhances it a ton on video!!
Sorry all for TERRIBLE video quality.../
I think that is Bob Binnies plug.
Nature's Image Farm, If memory serves me, Bob bought them from Greg. I could be wrong though.
I love 💗 bumble bees 🐝
I'd like to know where you got the buckets for $1. I'd also like to know how big the holes are that you drill in the tint plugs.
The hole is 49mm, the buckets i get from my local Walmart bakery. They are frosting containers. Use the ones with snaps all around, 8 in total, the ones with 4 snaps leak a little more.
Awesomeness 🐝🐝🐝🐝
Epic
Thanks for watching and commenting, hope you enjoyed it.
Ok
Nothing sus there. Just a happy bee doing what they naturally do.
