    Hey this video was very helpful. However I was wondering how would be the best way to attach a swivel rig to my mainline as that is something I've always struggled with. I realise this is probably a stupid question but any help would be greatly appreciated 😂

    • @jonjonescarper
      @jonjonescarper 2 місяці тому

      Hi. I think I understand what you mean. You have three ways of adding your rig to the Mainline. Firstly The lead clip is about the most common used item. This is very simple to use and very effective. Secondly is the Helicopter Set-up. This is when the lead is tied to the end on the mainline with your rig positioned above and held in place by rubber beads. Thirdly is the inline lead set-up where your rig is attached to the end of you mainline and pushed in to the end of an inline lead. But please remember to make sure all these are safe and in the event the line is cut the carp can free themselves. Let me know if you require more info. Kind regards Jon

    Might work on yr palm, but in the water, the buoyancy of the wafter will impede that motion and make the point of the hook lighter. Needs a heavy bottom bait.

    This rig is best to be used with a heavy bottom bait not a wafter, a heavy bottom bait will help to turn the hook with the hair exiting past the bend…

    Double over the fluro or bristle, so you have a loop of it and albright that. Then you have a multi version of this. Saves you tying again 👍

  • @Kb11466
    @Kb11466 Рік тому

    Was expecting more comments about how this isn't a German rig due to the stripped section. The original is straight through with no strip and no kicker. Both act mechanically quite differently, your version I use and basically just call it a combi rig - (with a lazier bait mounting option) easier and quicker to tie. Also I love it as you don't need to worry about a slip D or hair tangling. This thing you can have a few casts to hit a spot and guarantee its not tangling. Love it. A good test for it, if you pick the wafter up the point should drop down prone. On the original - no strip you really can't guarantee that and often lifts up on its side - so in conclusion I think this version is better. Well done 👏 out of interest do you think the bait mounting option - micro swivel and bead is less effective than a slip D or blowback hair? Less separation etc

    • @jonjonescarper
      @jonjonescarper Рік тому

      Thanks for the comment, DB. Maybe I should call the video my Combi German Rig? Regarding your question, I’ve never had an issue with this set up so not changed it to find out if the ring swivel or slip d is any better. All the rigs in the series are my versions and not 100% as others would tie them. Thanks again. 👍

      @@jonjonescarper Good stuff mate, subscribed. I think for a shortish rig this is fab, getting past 8 inches I'd likely opt for extra separation. Just my theory, never really tested. Look forward to the next one

    Isn’t a combi-rig when a rig is made of a combination of 2 materials ?

    • @jonjonescarper
      @jonjonescarper 2 роки тому

      Yes it is and also when a coated material is used and a section of the coating is removed to reveal the soft braid underneath. One part stiff, one part soft. 👍

  • @Pauljay65
    @Pauljay65 2 роки тому

    It’s not technically a slip d the whole point of a slip d surely is that u can slip it and change the hook without making a new rig again that’s the way j construct my Ds 🎣

    • @jonjonescarper
      @jonjonescarper 2 роки тому

      Thanks for your comment, Paul. Originally if the d moves it was a slip d. The multi rig is very similar which has a slip d but no knot to the hook, this allows the hook to be changed like what you are saying. 👍

    Why do carp anglers fish say 15 mainline but then use 25 hooklink shouldn't it be 18 pound mainline 15 hooklink so all you ever lose is a hook not everything that you have set up

    • @mauricetoussaint7283
      @mauricetoussaint7283 2 роки тому

      In certain situations, you would use a lower diameter mainline than hook link. Bear in mind that the vast majority of experienced/successful carp anglers will use different materials for hook links and main line, with very few using a mono hook link. The argument for breakages is a bit of Red Herring when you're using different lines, braid for example is not very abrasion resistant, so if you're using that as a hook link, a braid of say 20lb will break long before a 15lb mono... it's best practice to select lines by diameter, rather than breaking strain, then factor in other elements. Nothing is ever that simple when you look a bit closer.

    • @aarondavies8486

      @@mauricetoussaint7283 but why do match anglers use a mainline at 4lb then a hooklink at 2lb so all you lose is a hook you didn't really answer my question I use a 20lb mainline everywhere I go and a 15lb hooklink in braid or mono as if I snag up or anything my hooklink is the weakest link where if I have a 25lb hooklink to a .35 the .35 on my reel is the weak link so I'd lose leader and lead and hook its all back to front tbh

      @@aarondavies8486 I hear exactly what you're saying and at first it baffled me too, but I recently started targeting bigger carp and am using a 15lb mono mainline and 20lb coated braid hooklink, and on my most recent trip a fish took me into a nasty snag that snapped me off and when I reeled in it was the hooklink that had snapped halfway down, still had my lead and swivel, only lost my hook and about 6inches of braid 👍🏻
