Are you sure this wasn't a Joe Macho (a.k.a. Joe Mack) bass line? Babbitt was a west coast musician, while Croce worked with Cashman and West in NYC on "I Got a Name." Joe Macho was a studio musician from Philadelphia who lived in and did tons of session work in NYC with West (and others), including his lines on a number of tracks for Croce's I Got a Name Album. Macho had been playing the Fender bass since 1953 and this included playing with Simon and Garfunkel, the Supremes, and Frank Sinatra, to name a few.

Seems that the sheet music is in Gb and the tab is in G natural, Maybe the bass was supposed tp be detuned to Eb?

A very good simplified bass line to help beginners learn rhythm, timing and feel... at the same time not losing the melody. This will be helpful for us who stepped away for a long time and are getting back into bass as well :) Thank you :)

Apparently, someone said it was recorded with a Fender Precision Bass. There was a discussion about it on Scott's Bass Lessons, although it's not 100% clear. But I do hear a little bit of P-Bass on this track. If this was recorded on a StingRay, the tone was probably rolled back at least a bit. I'd know for sure if I had a time machine.

The tab is good! I think that something very important in this song are the ghost notes. You didn’t put them in the tab but I think that it is a good thing because it forces you to play it with feel too!
