In order to follow these instructins to install the custom rom, must you root the tablet before starting? Rooting is not mentioned in the instructions. Thanks.

ok so a few thngs missed as oer comments below deffo uncheck auto reboot in odin the follow steps in the comments you missed a part to data wipe other wise those with locked devices cannot install rom so must go to wipe and format data type yes when done then you can proceed as normal - also be sure to check gapps package those on 2015 vs 2016 models will need diff packages other than that thanks for the help :)

These 4 pin strips seem common sense to me. It’s 3pin strips that I can’t find any answers for.

My tablet is stuck at the odin stage saying downloading do not turn off target (blue bar) . Seems to have frozen doesn't reboot. Any ideas to force a reboot?

Just tried this with the same Samsung but it won't root. Odin shows it connected OK, i add tar file, start and it says pass but it just restarts as normal. I copied the lineage and Google apps files and did the restart but it still restarts in the standard Samsung recovery menu. Any ideas. Thanks

For anyone whos on Android 5.0.2, you have to first update to Android 7.0 by installing the latest stock firmware using Odin. Then you can follow this video to install LineageOS. I was having issues as my tablet said it had the lastest update and was on 5.0.2, however the latest update for Tab S2 was 7.0.

For god's sake man, use SOLDER joints - NOT just wrapping tape round bare wires. Also connecting to "any live wire" is absolutely wrong.

Is it just on windows or can I use mac for the process?

Having big problems after install with SD external storage not being recognized.

If you've been trying to install TWRP into your 1813 Tab S2 and NOTHING works, double check the serial number to confirm what year your tab is. I "assumed" mine was 2015, but after a whole day of failing to install TWRP I checked again and found it was actually 2016!! Once I found that out, TWRP installed easily.

ah iv been lookin for a custom rom file for a Samsung galaxy TAB A SM-T357W I have been lookin for awhile now and have not found any yet I was hoping you or some developer of lineage OS. can create a custom rom file that I can install to my tablet through ODIN software or even through platform tools.

I did everything like in the video, but downloaded the p5100 3g. The Lineage installed, tablet working but the main problem is that it is VERY slow. Trying to install something from google play and can't do that, app closing or app installing process taking 20 mins and still nothing. Any idea how to fix that? Thank you!

Can I use a connector and connect it to a 5pin to connect to a controller?
