If you haven't already done so, check out the following info on why Dolby Atmos is greyed out: Dolby Atmos on a Samsung TV might be grayed out for a number of reasons, including: TV connection Dolby Atmos only works when the TV is connected via HDMI eARC, not a digital optical cable. Streaming app A streaming app running in the background, like Netflix or Hulu, might be graying out the setting. Sound settings The sound settings might need to be adjusted. For example, try setting the HDMI e-ARC Mode to Auto and Digital Output Audio Format to Auto (or Pass-Through). You can also try different sound settings like "pass through" or "auto". See if this helps your issue.

@@hdtvsandmore1321 I've tried everything you mentioned except checking about apps running in the back ground. one thing I wonder about is the home screen, the last site or whatever you were watching is their, the TV automatically goes to it, also I saw that you should be watching something like netflix and have it on a movie or show that supports Dolby Atmos.

As you've noticed, this review is based on the 85" screen size and is the only model in the CU8000 line with a 120Hz refresh rate and VRR for gaming. This means the 85-inch model will perform better with motion control and provide smoother video gaming compared to the other sizes in the lineup including the 75-inch model. Thanks for your comment.

I'm not much of a gamer and rarely play video games. I'm also not familiar with the Xbox console. However, I do know UHD or Ultra High Definition is also used to define 4K TVs and the terms are used interchangeably. That being said, the 4K TVs that consumers purchase have a resolution of 3840 x 2160p which is slighty less than the full spec 4K resolution of 4096 x 2160p which was introducded for digital cinema. So technically speking, 4K is slightly better the UHD. However, visually they will look similar. And for home viewing UHD is the same as viewing in 4K. Thanks for your comment.

In my opinion the Q60C is just okay when watching fast action sporting events. And depending on what you are watching and how visually sensitive you are to motion artifacts; you can experience motion blur due to the TVs slower response time. Thanks for your comment.

I don't know how much memory is included for the Roku App channels on the new Pro Series 4K TVs; however, based on previous Roku TV models I suspect it maybe 2 GB. The channel startup is fast. Thanks for your comment.

All the models you mentioned are good TVs. I did some quick research on any issues with the QN90C and found that the issues some users are having are not widespread. Some of the issues were not a direct fault of the TV but how a particular source connected to the TV may have caused some compatibility issues. That being said, I wouldn't personally avoid the QN90C and consider it a solid-performing TV. So in my opinion the QN90C would be the best choice of the models you are considering as it does have the best overall picture quality in the group. Hope this helps. Thanks for your comment.

@hdtvsandmore1321 Thank you for your reply, i really appreciate it. It has cleared a lot of misconceptions. Because i saw a review by IGN mainly and other reviewers, and they spoke about how transation from white to black pictures can be a problem as in its noticeable, especially when gaming. Just for calrity, how is it caused? How would i avoid that mistake?

There isn't much you can do about this since its a local dimming issue most likely caused by the TVs processing or algorithm Samsung is using. Hopefully Samsung will address this issue with this years new models. Thanks for your comments.

The CU8500 is the UK equivalent of the US CU8000. So I assume they should have similar performance, but I'm not certain. Thanks for your comment.

Although I didn't give a precise answer on a clear winner in this video which wasn't my objective, I did, however, point out some of the performance differences between the two models. For example, the S90C uses a QD OLED panel and has a higher peak brightness output over the C3 which can lead to better overall picture quality. That being said, I do respect your opinion. I checked again and according to my source, Display Specifications, and my website article, the 50" and 85" models use VA panels whereas the 55", 65" and 75" models use IPS panels. Thanks for your comment.

You will experience some blooming around bright objects and text set against a black or dark background; this will also depend on the content you are watching. However, it won't be severe.

I didn't use the USB inputs during my review of the Q80C; however, in past reviews of other Samsung TVs I have used the USB port to view 4K and 1080p video clips without any issure. So I suspect the results should be the same with the Q80C. Thanks for your comments.

As to why Magnetar chose not to include HDMI 2.1 will be a question they have to answer, that being said, HDMI 2.1 isn’t necessary because there isn't anything in the 2.1 standard needed for 4K Blu-ray players. Furthermore, HDMI 2.1 only matters for PS5, Xbox Series X, or a higher-end gaming PC, specifically if you want to game in full 4K@120 + HDR + VRR/Freesync + ALLM all at the same time. I found this info on a reputable website: "Since 4K UHD discs are region free, 4K discs will play from any region on the UB820. Blu-ray discs are limited to the player’s country region code. In the US, the UB820 will only play Region A blu-ray discs and Region 1 dvds. If you want to play blu-rays and dvds from any region, you’ll have to buy a region free modded version of this 4K player." Hope this info helps. Thanks for your comment.

I'm not much of a gamer, but according to my research, all three of the TVs you mentioned are good for gaming and feature advanced gaming features such as 4K @120Hz and VRR. Additionally, the Sony X85L is optimized for the PS5 gaming console, and features Auto HDR Tone Mapping. That being said, I would personally choose the LG C2 (in a larger screen size) because I prefer the OLED pictue quality over the LED picture quality of the X85L and Q80C. Thanks for your comment.

Yeah, I lean more towards LG, but can't afford a larger screen size than 42" they are much more expensive and im also saving a money for a new car, but I sit 2 meters from tv, so I think this size should be fine, just scared a little of burn in, I wish it would last five years

I understand that the price of a larger OLED screen size can be an issue. But as you said, the 42" LG C2 works for you and thats all that matters. As far as burn-in on OLED TVs, its much less of an issue now since technolgy has been improved to lessen its impact. However, its still not a bad idea to take the necessary precautions to limit the impact of OLED TV burn-in. Thanks for your comments.

Although I'm not familiar with the LG QNED866RE since its not a US model, however, I did do some quick research and and found that I would personally prefer the Samsung QN90C due to performance and design characteristics. Thanks for your comment.

I assume you are referring to the CU8500 which is a UK model and is the equivalent to the CU8000 US model. In my opinion, the Q80C is worth the extra money since it is a step up in "class" to Samsung's QLED series above the CU8500 basic model. That being said, The Q80C will give you noticeable improvements in overall picture quality when compared to the CU8500, especially in color reproduction since the Q80C uses quantum dots which improves color. With consumer level TV's available as of January 2024 you will always have to make a sacrifice. something. OLED sacrifices stutter, potential for burn in, brightness. Back lit LED that uses local dimming to enhance contrast will sacrifice details in dark areas. The Sony LED's use local dimming to enhance black details sacrificing blooming. You can step up to X95L which has mini leds and the most dimming zones but if you are sensitive to blooming then better to choose OLED or switch to different brand that prioritizes blooming reduction over black details.

I'm looking for a 50 in Samsung TV for my guest room on a budget. I was thinking about getting the CU8000. My main TV is the Samsung S95B 65 in. I got lucky and got a really good unit. It's so thin it scares me. It's heavy and paper thin so hard to move it around. That's the only downside to the TV. I almost bought the LG G3.

Personally I would go with a Roku or Firestick. You will have a much larger selection of steaming options to choose from vs. the limited apps that are available on the UB820. You don't need to use a Panasonic HDMI cable for the best viewing experience. Any quality HDMI cable will give you the same results. And it doesn't have to be an expensive HDMI cable.
