The bodycam is supposed to automatically activate but it did not this time. The officer likely tried to activate it manually but what is the cop to do if the camera won't activate; not pursue the threat and risk the guy on the porch who is making threats to shoot an innocent civilian? The answer is no, cops risk their lives everyday to protect those that need protection. Is it disappointing to not have the first officers footage, yes, but don't automatically assume it was intentional.

None of the criteria for the automated activation occurred if you watch the intro they explain very clearly what circumstances cause the body cam to activate, the dispatch run was originally a different address so he never came close enough to the original address to activate and he walked up to the dude so that also wouldn’t activate the camera it turned on as soon as he shot though so still working as it should.

They magazine not clips, just so you know.

"poor guy" who was threatening a woman with a gun and most likely has a long rap sheet, as evidenced by telling the cops "you know me".. soz, but this was a justified shooting, like it or not.. he made his choice, and it was a terrible one.. What chance would you have liked the police to give him?

If you have a gun in your hand while cops are walking to you and you don’t put it down when they tell you, you deserve what you get. It's obvious you have issues with any form of police trying to protect our community. If Mr. Qualls was a member of your family, I am sorry for your loss, but our police officers put on the uniform everyday to serve and protect our community.

@@TurdFurgeson571 From a point of cover. That officer walked right into a gun fight which he got lucky as he did not hesitate to be the 1st to pull trigger. Cover allows you a fraction of a second to either engage or hold back and take another angle at the problem.

This cop was not smiling. You can zoom in or pause it to create whatever narrative you want, these cops approached the threat. You simply cannot point a gun at a cop.

how do you de-escalate when a guy is pointing a gun at you ? all he has to do is squeeze his finger and you are dead. what did mr qualls do to de-escalate ? not one thing. he pointed his gun at the cop.

@@bigd835 You do not deescalate by approaching an alleged gun-holder directly, for sure. For me it did not even look as if Qualls pointed the gun directly at the officer, but was stupid enough to follow the instructions of "put your hands up", which can be seen in the uncensored version. Could also be that he was confused by the Officer not even paying attention to what he said before. I admit it is nearly impossible to distinguish whether he is pointing the gun at you or simply following your instructions, but for that exact reason you do not fucking walk in front of an alleged armed person, especially if you don't see the firearm. You open up with a conversation and guess what, they actually talked to each other but the officer did not stop for one second, he walked straight up the "Veranda", or whatever you call it, and in front of him, demanding to put up his hands. Mr. Qualls was simply confused that the Cop did not even respond to what he said before. half a second before the shot you can still hear Qualls saying "stop". Two idiots, but only one has to pay for it.

@@bigd835 I meant before he just strode up on the porch. But we didn't see what transpired before that video. There's a lot missing that we can't see. Plus, why was he smiling after he shot the guy. It kind of looked like he was happy about his kill.

as simple as don't point a gun on officers, at that point is a gamble and in this case the guy lost the gamble thinking the police would step back and not shoot while a gun is on their face

Cop went home to his family and did what he was sworn to do. Serve the community. Dude was obviously out causing problems to begin with and was wanting a gun fight. He was just to slow at pulling the trigger.
