Welcome to “No Bars in the Wild” Ep.6! - This a series where I venture out into nature and cross boarders to craft unique cocktails inspired by my surroundings using locally sourced and native ingredients. My goal for this series is to explore the world through cocktails and discover as many interesting ingredients as i can along the way.
In this episode i arrive at the Blue Mountains, a spectacular mountain range full of vibrant forests and wild animal, just 2 hours west of Sydney, NSW. Whilst here i hike deep into the mountains and down into canyons to gather inspiration as well as explore what Katoomba has to offer to design a cocktail I call the "Katoomba Punch".
For this drink, I attempted to use these fruits in multiple different ways in a bid to experiment with maximizing the potential of your ingredients. Had i had more time in Australia to make one more cocktail I would have used all the leftover skins from this recipe to make a super fruity Oleo Saccharum to make a zero waste cocktail but unfortunately I had to move on to Indonesia shortly after filming this episode. Although there's a lot more for you to see and me to uncover during my next 3 episodes of this series so keep your eyes peeled.
