OWNER OPERATOR TAKES HIS KENWORTH INTO INTERMODAL TRUCKING
Good information. I'm a CDL instructor former logistics supervisor for usps. Thinking about going this route. Doing my research now
Try it out it’s not bad. Pus you’re home daily
Copy that, thanks. I'll be absorbing as much as possible from your content.
Thank you Brother, and GOD Bless You !!!
🙏🏼
Jack up front axle to grease king pins if you did not know thank me later..takes pressure off grease gets up in there
Did not know that! But I will do that from now on thanks
Great video, the price you paid sounds about right. It was great of the shop to give you a year warranty.
And everything so far has been good 👌🏼👌🏼
You're there to get a container?
I was at the mechanics line.. damn container was mounted on a chasis with a shredded tire
@@T.W.S.1223 How long did that set you back?
Dope video. How has your fuel mileage been since the inframe? Can you make a video about it?
Teach them young ❤
I would think you would have higher expectations for your son. But it's good he has to earn an allowance.
All I do is encourage him to keep up in school.. but I’m not going to hand out money like that.. nothing is given in life so he has to earn some money one way or another. In that case u can say he’s not only learning about the engine and how to do maintenance but also how to work for his money and not expect anything for free.
Awesome video I subscribe to your UA-cam channel
Enjoyed your video . Just subscribed . Just wondering if you had thought about going single turbo before you purchased the twin turbos ?
I sure did. But I don’t know what the benefits are to switching to single turbos other than the simplicity. A lot of mechanics have told me twins are better. I am thinking about switching to single turbo now. There’s one of the turbos that was failing already. Looking at my options at the moment.
Thanks for the heads up and the knowledge I truly appreciate it Bro.
I haven't been to CSX 59th in a while. I used to go there when lines to ingate and outgate was the worst. I see what it used to be lot N3 and N4 is now stock rows. Nice!
I replaced mine too since I had a code and was low on boost and full consumption. It ended up being the wiring harness. I used a multimeter and test the wires from the connector to the ecm. I notice one of the wire had zero continuity. In found the broken wire and fixed it and we’re back in business
Very insightful video, I have a 2005 t600 with a c15 Mxs and need to be ready to do a i frame at some point.
Going aftermarket hasn’t been bad for me. And I haul pretty heavy most of the time
@@T.W.S.1223 can you tell me what the name of the kit you bought is.?
How’s the blow by on ur c15? My c15 accert has had blow by since I purchased it most people have told me it’s normal on a c15 I’ve heard some people have had blow by right after the overhaul
I haven’t seen any blow by since the overhaul. But before it I did. It was up to the point where I would be at a red light and I’d see all the smoke come up. It still ran pretty good just lost power on last few gears
Where do you live where you couldn't get CAT parts?
Chicago
@T.W.S.1223 No kidding. Wow. I am shocked. What is the name of the manufacturer that made the aftermarket stuff? If you don't mind saying. I own a C-15 also. It is in a '01 Pete. I think I am getting up there on my 2nd in -frame. Probably going to need a 3rd maybe in the next year. Got a platinum rebuild last go round. The man who did the work has retired though.
@@jerrycoggin9434 He mentioned the aftermarket parts were Interstate Mcbee. I bought an oil cooler from them and various gasket kits and have been happy with the quality.
Lots of important details! Awesome video.
You said you were going to talk about the costs of your inframe overhaul, but you never did. Please describe the costs.
Sorry about that I will do a video on that so I can explain more with detail.
This story woke me up. I got to be careful
Yep, unfortunately there’s many mechanics like this. He didn’t think I was going to open the engine up soon I guess
Like how the lights on the bumper came out. Also like how you have the lights on the visor instead of on top of the cab. That gives it a clean look.
Your truck is xoming along. Love that you have plans watermelon lights (dual revolution) would look real inside inside the cab and/or sleeper. Gitta say Im a huge fan of trucking. I dont drive but have always been into trucks and just supporting your videos.
Thanks for the support! 🙏🏼 u have really good ideas for trucks I see! And those ideas are similar to what I have cus man.. dual revolution from white to blue inside would be great. It’s a slow process but we are getting there.
@@T.W.S.1223 Does your T600 have a 72" sleeper or an 86" sleeper? I love the Kenworths (whether T600, T800 or W900) with the 86" studio sleeper.
@@evanjordan5075 mine is a 72” sleeper. Wanted the bigger sleeper with the studio sleeper but that’s what I got 😢
@@T.W.S.1223 72" still nice too. Also as they say "Gotta star somewhere"
Shiftin' that T600 like a boss
I like the interior of the T600. Would you ever consider moving your CB radio up maybe not in the slot that holds the CB but in the middle so that the wire for the mic isn't getting in the way of the shifter?
Yeah I do wanna put it up there too.. cus it is in my way of looking out in that position so.. gotta figure out how to run the cb cable up there
Love how that C-15 sounds? Shifter looking good.
Thanks 🙏🏼
Nice looking 05 Kenworth T600. Do you have to run a E-Log on the truck hauling containers?
Yeah with the company I’m with I have to run elogs. Even though it’s considered local there’s time when we go past the required local miles.
And thanks!!🙏🏼 I wish I can keep it a bit more cleaner but it’s hard in intermodal on these yards I go through.
@@T.W.S.1223 What got you into intermodal trucking? Also, did you ever haul anything else besides containers with the T600?
Lights look nice on the T600. I know stacks cost a lot but would eventually like to see you put dual stacks on the truck.
That is in plan for the future. It is gonna be quite a bit of cash so I gotta save up cus I want them to be on the side of the truck.. that’ll require moving the diesel tanks and air tanks to slide back a bit.
@@T.W.S.1223 That'll be fire the stacks on the side. Doesn't matter if the stacks are 6" 7" or 8" will look great.
@@evanjordan5075 I’m looking at some 7” right now but it would be in the future anyway.. cus yeah there will have to be work put in just installing them.. getting the y connection and yeah moving the tanks back a bit.
Detention should pay a standard minimum rate of $50/hr, no limit! If they can't pay you at least that, they shouldn't be in business! Also, I don't get why they don't PAY YOU to unload their product. Sure would be nice to filter out the dangerous/low-skill/incompetent drivers.
Welcome to Bidenomics - they are "proud" of this.
I would have loved to unload that product having my forklift certification and all but you know how they come out with their “company policy” bs. Some of these brokers are a joke. Detention after 3-4 hours free.. and up to 6 hours max paid.. some drivers don’t know that and they stay and wait more. I didn’t .. if I didn’t see the confirmation of me getting paid more I left.
saludos amigo
Saludos!! 🙏🏼
That sucks. I do flatbed and deliver coils there sometimes and it’s pretty quick. I have seen the line of dry vans out there, always thought they got unloaded quick. Guess not😂. Sorry you had to deal with that shit, I do know the feeling though.
That was about a year ago. I hope they got better. The worse place I had ever delivered to.

Thanks for sharing…New owner operator in intermodal. Bracing myself for the steep grades uphill or down 😊 Imma keep rolling 💫
Good luck in this job bro! It’s not bad as soon as u get the hang of it!
Funny I came across your videos last night. Today I seen you and your kw on western ave!
U got me on a bad day! Dirty truck cus I was in Indiana with all that snow
@@T.W.S.1223 it’s all good just needs a good truck wash
NEED TO KNOW HOW TO GET ABOARD TO HAULING FOR THE PORTS . AND IS IT EASY TO APPLY?
It’s easy to apply at least here with Evan’s. There’s 30 contractors plus Evan’s alone that you can apply for. And well ports.. yeah… I think if you haven’t been in there it be good to go with someone for a few days to get to know them and how it works
Evans transport or E transport? I've been communicating with them out of Florida and they have work out of Virginia that could have me home each night
@@airforcebbq3P051 Evan’s transport they’re pretty good company to work with
That's good to hear. Thanks that helps me to make my decision in a couple weeks.
Nice truck
Thanks! 🙏🏼
Im getting into my T600 in March. It currently has a super 10. Im thinking about swapping for a 13 speed AND high stick it like this!
Only way to shift!! Waiting to hear when u get back on brother!
'PromoSM'
Kenw &PtrBlt are the same truck same builder. Kenw are just known for being nicer interior and comfort. Just cooler but not better
😂🤘
they look cheap taste
Get a truck wash
Believe it or not, had a wash 2 days before that video.. can’t keep it clean here in intermodal. I need a Mobile wash so he can go and wash it at the yard I park at
Hubs look good, definitely easy to spot a leak with looking that clean
It’s kind of weird seeing it like this but it’ll grow on me 😅
How you get on with bnsf?
What is the point of having a shift that high? Never thought it looked good.
Everyone has their style. But since I changed it to higher I feel like the shifting is a lot smoother imo.
It’s just a style lots of old school truckers have them like that and it’s way easier to shift
Awesome video man. I’m also an intermodal owner operator pulling out of the port of Wilmington. Love your content. What’s the instrumental song at 14:20? Nice chill vibe to it
Thanks for the support bro. That song I use is Music: Over N Over Musician: Not The King
@@T.W.S.1223thank you big bro!! Just hit the sub button. Keep the intermodal content coming. Don’t be surprised if you run into the other Chicago intermodal UA-camr called Trucking & life, he’s an owner op too
@@nfcoley1357 gonna check his channel up to see who it is.. it be great to meet other you tubers
Would it be worth buying your own chassis. Or do you have to leave them at the delivery? Do you always haul freight or is it just moving empties
I move freight from customers, and return the empty to the rail yards. I did think on buying my own chassis maybe one that converts from a 20’ to a 40’ since that’s all we haul. But, the Joliet rail yards are where I’ll lose time and money because the whole set up is dropped there or picked up. Meaning I’d hav to pay for a flip to get the box from my chassis to theirs
Are you a Independent Contractor or a Carrier. I'm near the BNSF in Haslet TX and I own my own truck
Independent contractor bro
@T.W.S.1223 any suggestions on Intermodal companies for Independent
Try using the puller and pull hard and fast towards the cab.
I’ve never experienced it but heard stories about Landers.
It’s horrible in landers, that’s one of the places I hate going to
I’ll try pulling like that cus I tried everything and that handle was the only thing that got me out of trouble
Good stuff and keep it safe. I’ll be looking out for you. I’m on the same streets pulling local reefer here in Chicago.
What kind of truck do you drive? That way I know if u honk at me 😅
Locking pliers work great for when the fifth wheel doesn't want to stay open just pull the handle and put the pliers right against the fifth wheel and lock them in the handle
I didn’t even think of that 🫨 but… I did use the Sta rat.. nice little device I used on older trailers to pull the pin lever for the tandems.. it’s hydraulic so it worked.. but yeah those locking pliers will work too thanks
when it is this cold you need to keep it running even if you have an APU
I figured. I never had an apu but figured the truck still has to be kept running on freezing conditions.
I usually avoid bringing a chassis to roadability for lights, especially if I can fix or replace them myself. Carrying spares can save some time.
I would do the same I just haven’t been in that situation just yet. But yes having spare lights work and the only times I have been to roadbility was for flat/shredded tires. And I hate when they try to give u a flip ticket for something that they don’t wanna do.
@@T.W.S.1223 Or somehow they don't have parts. I've ran into situations where they had no good tires to use. Mainly due to the hostlers dragging the chassis around 🤦
