    Yo man this is seriously good and useful content, the video should be the whole process. And i need to know details like when doing 2 or 3 tones on a rim, how long do you let each tone cure for after flowing out. A bunch of coaters say "partial cure" in their 2 tone videos, but none of them EVER detail what they mean by that. If i am to make a wild guess, i would say they mean that each tone you apply before the final clear coat is only supposed to cure 50% of its designated curing duration. So if a powder was cure at 400°F for 20min, the tone would instead be cured at 400°F for 10min. Please man i need some assistance here.

    • @avpcoating2279
      @avpcoating2279 3 роки тому

      Personally i always go 20* shy of full cure and pull. Then after the layers are on full cure to the specified highest temp for the desired time.

    • @bennett4881
      @bennett4881 3 роки тому

      @@avpcoating2279 So, what you're saying is that you fully cure each of the tones? Because if you are saying "20*" in reference to my example above (20min @ 400°F) (being a full cure after flow out), then you must mean you fully cure each tone before applying and fully curing the next one -- all the way up to the clear coat. Am i correct? Why would other powder coaters suggest "partial curing" for multi-tone projects?

    Do. You cure clear at lower Temps I keep. Having issues with haze on top of a satin black I'm applying to. They said it could be exhaust but figured I get your insight? What temp are you curing and how long?

    • @avpcoating2279
      @avpcoating2279 4 роки тому

      I shoot at room temperature part cools all the way down. For satin and matte clears you go lighter as most of them have a thinner mil thickness requirement. Too thick it will look milky.

    Nice, but an awful lot of work. That’s going to add to the cost, unless you eat it. You’ve increased painting time bu about 50 times. Try this with 100 parts. I do this for my own work, but for a customer?
