The take they went with in the movie is better, but they should have went with the original in the epilogue. Her humming with no music says way more about this being her own reality than the one with the music. Makes her world feel more fragile when she's the one making the music rather than the soundtrack.

They did a brilliant job. Though, the first take of homura did sound far more insane and lunatic, it was not the right tone to protray homura's state of mind at that point of the movie. Homura didn't lose her mind, she just comprehended her desire more thoroughly at that point. The retake version protrayed Homura more as someone who knew what she was doing, rather than just going crazy and destroying everything. A good creation it's not about putting the best stuff into a piece, but more about placing the 'right stuff' at the 'right place.' And I think whoever made this decision to do the retake had a full sense of knowing what this film needed and what they were doing. Bravo, applause.

I love the 1st take the most. Homura has gone off the deep end. There's no point to me, dancing around it with maybes. She now burns as brightly as her name.

While i like the first take, it sounds creepy and sort of unhinged like her love for Madoka just drived her mad. I do like the final version more since it doesn't exactly paint Homura as exactly evil nor selfish, but more neutral ,while her decision was messy , it definitely seems more like she wanted protect Madoka, rather than wanting to keep Madoka for herself, and remove her from her lonely state that Madoka was in her goddess form/role. I wouldn't say that Homura was right for doing this, but i feel like a lot of people often forget that Homura main priority is to keep madoka safe, not exactly be with her

Delicious Party Precure episode 12 should have kept Gentle under the evil spell and just have the episode start a VERY long crossover arc with Madoka Magica where Homura ends up killing Gentle with no regrets or mercy at all.

The first take is definitely not Homura's character. Plus, it sounds like she is mocking everyone (including the viewers) which we all know Homura is not like that. She sounds too cringy and annoying, thank goodness they didnt ended up using that. Salute to Chiwa Saitou-san for her efforts because she made the final take 100% perfect, fitting Homura's character, that kind of job is hard!

So considering what they said in the interview about the first take being too declarative and conclusionary, while leaving no room for interpretation I'm guessing we will see more of this version of Homura in the coming movie as she becomes more and more deranged.. tbf, the homura we see at the beginning of movie 4 trailer does sound kinda similar to the one we saw here, with a good amount of Moemura mixed in. A little bit toned down on the insanity trance like feeling tho. Also man the way she's talking to Kyubey "aww you cute little cat we might need your help to cleanse our world so you are staying to help..(and its not a request.)" You can really hear that scary threatening/dominating edge to her voice there. So much subtle yet intricate voice acting mixed in.

Ngl, I'd prefer that they keep the first take for the scene when Homura is hamming up her evil overlord persona with Sayaka

1St homura sounds like she did all this for Madoka, She protected her and reversed as many times to save madoka and she even turned to anti-christ just to bring madoka out of the cycle and let her go back to her original lives and to let her rest and have fun from being constantly working as "The Cycle" 2nd Homura just sounds VILE AND ABSOLUTELY EVIL, SHE JUST WANTS MADOKA FOR HERSELF AND ONLY HERSELF! SHE DON"T GIVE A FUCK "I JUST WANT MADOKA AND FUCK EVERYONE ELSE" Which i think isn't far off but 1st take homura is definitely more suitable considering the WHOLE SERIES of her going back to save madoka which is leading to this point and in those timelines homura actually gives a shit about her friends but not as much as madoka but still not to the point of disregarding her friends as disposables

左は悪魔ほむらだな〜っていう安心感が強いけど、右はマジで悪魔だな〜って感じがして、悪魔ほむらとはまた違った悪魔感を感じる

右はお下げの頃のほむらちゃんみもある……変質しきって一周まわって本質は……みたいな

右はちょっと感情込めすぎなところもあるけど怖くて好き。 1番最後の右は音が一気に無くなって映画が終わったんだなってなるけど、左は「暁美ほむら」の物語を見ていた感があって、次は誰がメインかな？とか考えちゃう 声優さんすごい

Im always gonna be of the opinion that outside of a couple of snippets from the first take (like when shes subduing madoka before she transforms back) the 2nd take is the definitive version. To be honest the 1st take just feels out of place. I know its trying to go for the "shes CrAaAzY now" vibe that alot of anime characters take on but when put on a character like homura in a show like this it just feels so ridiculously out of place and campy. Especially with her usually stoic and intimidating tone. She was already doing some crazy shit before lets be real. I dont see the need to have to cram the fact that youd have to be a little less then sane and normal about someone to turn into SATAN into our faces by making her sound like a stereotypical yandere character. I think we as an audience are smart enough to catch that. That and juxtaposing all of that with her usual monotone and calculating front is honestly way more intimidating and true to her character. This I feel hit me even more during the final scene. Her maniacally humming her own theme in silence just feels weird imo. It just makes me feel like im watching some random deranged child in dire need of sleep do a little jig. feels very not like her when this should be her at her most unfiltered now that she has achieved what she always wanted without compromise. Having her say nothing and just let her signature stoic look and actions speak for themselves feels way more impact full as a way to end an already contentious and strange watching experience. Nothing but visuals and the series's as always beautiful soundtrack to leave the audience to decide how they feel about what happened. It gives a whole lot more for people to chew on when homura doesnt conform to a common archetype and instead wordlessly dances by herself leaving the audience to interpret a nuanced and complex characters mental state by the end of jt all

I love the first take, homura no longer needs to hide her emotions, she accepts them, together with her insanity.

The final fits her the best because of everything she's gone through, her voice is firm, while the first take she sounds innocent.. too innocent. like how she was before she became a magical girl. She's practically enjoying herself. 😭

The first take be sounding like she's completely off the deep end. Oddly enough, it sounds even more empty because she doesn't sound grounded. Which I usually like, but not for homura, and not in this instance I can see why they went with the other version xD

見に行っていない身ですが、 右の方が結構ゾクッとする感覚が味わえる。映画館でみた人たちには、さぞや良かったのだろうな… 映画をみてるとき、ゾクッとする演出や声ってクセになるのわかりますかね(笑)

I wish they kept the part where Homura hums alone while dancing. It was much more unnerving in my opinion.

公開版はまどかへの執着が一周まわって感情が表にあまり出なくなって少し淡々としてるけど、自分の望みを叶えた歓喜が垣間見える感じで、恐いはずなのに何故か恐怖は感じない。 リテイク前は、ひたすらに執着と望みを叶えた歓喜がビシビシ伝わってくるし、同時に恐怖も直に伝わってくる。(他アニメのキャラで例えるのもアレですがローゼンメイデンのアニメ銀様に近い) 結論:どっちも好き

なんか、右側は思いっきり自己愛溢れまくりって感じであまり好きではない 偉そうに感じてしまう 左の方が好きだな

i'm gonna be honest, i pirated rebellion what i didn't know, however, is that the version i pirated was the "Homura 1st Take." not only that, but that it was a better service to Homura's character overall (at least in my opinion,) since there's still a tinge of hope and emotion in her voice. a slight hint of the homura who had yet to lose everything. she's not dead, not emotionless. in fact, this is the moment in which she feels most alive; the moment where her reason to live comes back to her. that's what this moment is all about, homura not wanting to lose madoka again, no matter what. so in my opinion, i favor this "1st Take," as it sounds to me like someone finally getting what they've wanted for so, so long (at least, in most of these scenes)
