Another demonstration of Guthrie Govan's brilliance...
I really liked Guthrie's improvisation on this track. It really shows how musically talented he is and how versatile he can play.

This is my favorite Govan solo of all time
Anyone got tabs for this??
Not one wasted note
he somehow plays "the lick" 10 different times in 10 different ways during this
The authentic Guitar God💯🙌
Guthrie Govan is on a alien level. Best guitar improviser of all times.
1:33 the lick
🤟
@0:43 lick sounds so familiar, can anyone please tell me what song is it from?
comes close to "the lick"
dude, you can listen this on repeat forever...
pov jesus christ got a guitar for christmas
What the actual f...............
Hell yeah
He's literally the greatest modern guitarist of all time
I see Guthrie I click
Guthrie vs alip ba ta..that would be awesome
In My Country is Legend Toto Towel...this same style😁😁😁🙏🙏
He’s alright but no Rob Chapman
Who is Rob Chapman?
Youre right, he's much better than Chapman!
BEST GUITARIST EVER!!!
The captain is so distracted he can't keep tempo, this will be forever legendary.
Dude was too focused playing the right chords in time that, he missed the masterpiece Guthrie was playing next to him….. what a difference in ability eh? 🤣🤣
That Lee Anderton guy must feel like a right twat playing with govan ,it’s pretty embarrassing to watch 😮
Improvising shows the real skill, and Guthrie is the best of that.
My man can play in any style. Awesome!!! Thank you again.
i really like this improv. i know that's probably jazz but i don't know how to find bands in this style. i'm addicted to this video and need more stuff like that
Try listening to Beyond the Missouri Sky by Charlie Haden and Pat Metheny
The amount of practice this guy has put in and tunes he's learned is probably incomprehensible!!!
Did he just bend 2 strings at the same time?
It's so tasty and so complex what he just pulls off. Like it's nothing.
Man this guy got my teardroping everytime he play that note. Somehow i could feel that
His best solo
Whats this style of music?
Seems like the most people who watched this video realy dont like the sound of a neck pickup.
Absolutely incredible!
Its ridiculous. Hes so good. I used to buy guitar techniques magazine in the 90s ,Guthrie had a slot every month in the magazine and on the cd teaching tunes. I remember he transcribed Al Di Meola tunes and Steve Vai Eugene's trick bag.
Guthrie is amongst a handful of guitarists who cause me to routinely rewind and or slow down the song to figure out what this man just played. And then u find out it was improvised..... truly a legend.
eesh, sorry you had to play with that rhythm player.
that might be the best guitar playing i have ever heard. He's a musical genius.
I LOVE the "mellow" jazz sound he gets on the guitar. Guthrie is simply AWESOME.
wtf
Selfishly, i wish Guthrie would put himself into the spotlight. However, i respect thst he doesn't. Hes turned into some kinda mysterious savant that appears randomly. Like a metal slime in a dragon quest game.
0.48 seconds...OMG!!!!
His improv phrasing is unmatched, what a legend
For some reason, the way he switched pickups was the most mind blowing thing.
When you have a deep understanding of harmony and you deeply know your instrument...
I'm better...
This man wows the greats on a regular. Even the modern day greats.
im not gay: but with the way he plays guitar i reconsider that statement sometimes…
Does anyone know what he is playing e.g. scales?
I have been a guitarist for a very long time.. I guess I am about average for the time I have played, maybe a bit above that but not much. But I have followed all the so called greats and yes there have been some and a few who have flattered to deceive. Guthrie can shred with anyone and is one of the best along with Matteo Mancuso who can is equally adept. It all gets a bit "yeah ok I have heard you now, and I am getting a bit bored" But moments like the above show so much more feeling, soul, depth, call it what you will but it's very moving and you just know it's adlib stream of thought stuff.. It wouldn't be the same repeated and recorded. Hard to describe what all that is about but the listener and the player are sharing that virgin moment.. musician and listener are intertwined, both may be creating that moment as it unfolds. Thank you Guthrie, thank you.
Imagine what a guy like that does if you take his pick away? ....... Is literally what i was writing until he tossed it😮😮😮😮
the other guy might want to work on his rhythm...
