Приєднався 16 кві 2018
I’m Dan the reading dad. Welcome to my book club!
Here’s a surprise for you: I love to read.
This is why I’m here, and I suspect it’s why you’re here too. I read for the joy of reading, and I write book reviews so I can share what I love.
Plus, no girls will let me join their book club.
My reviews are focused on helping others, particularly parents and discerning adults, find books that are age and content appropriate for them and their families.
I hate being surprised by the content in the books I read, and I especially hate being surprised by the content in the books my kids read. Just because our kids CAN read a book doesn’t mean our kids SHOULD read it!
Head over to www.onemanbookclub.com where you’ll find hundreds of content aware book reviews and curated book lists by age where you’re sure to discover something for even your most ambitious young readers.
Find One Man Book Club on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter too!
Happy Reading!

Curious about how dark mode works in the 2024 release… Will the white border be extremely distracting in dark mode?
Thanks !
You're welcome!
I really liked the second book.
I'm glad you did! ❤️
This has not worked for me. I am obsessed with my streak. I did read the day that is missing and I was connected to my Wi-Fi.
Follow the directions and give it several hours, maybe even overnight. It should work!
@@onemanbookclub2585 Awesome, it worked! Thanks
Did he say “matchta?” 😂
😆 Yes he did! I learned something knew thanks to all my friends here! 😁
I got the Paperwhite SE in Metallic Raspberry for $118. 😁
Wow! That's a steal!
This is what I have been looking for! I have a hard time reading due to dyslexia. Thank you so much for the video!!
I'm so glad! It's a wonderful tool! Good luck!
@@onemanbookclub2585 Well, I downloaded Kindle "Putting out of your mind" along with the audiobook onto my PC. It started out well but then around the 3rd page the narrator started to skip sentences, then full paragraphs sometimes which made it difficult and distracting to follow along. Have you experienced this before? thanks!
Hope gen 3 is color
Me too!
My class read the book for English and the teacher put on the film at the end of the year, we all hated it. We loved the book but the movie sucked
😆 It's hard to watch a movie based on a book you love! It never meets your expectations!
@@onemanbookclub2585 So true
It's in London?
The school is in the "Void," but when the students come out, they are in different places around the real world, including London.
I'm from India anyone else ❤❤❤
Welcome!
Aren’t these books amazing? Honestly, this series could go on forever. There’s so much potential. To me this book sets up two more books.
I agree!
What horrible quality of your video, your screen is so hazy, just a waste of time trying to compare the two scribes and what is being written on it. You must come up with some sort of quality control before you turn it loose.
Thanks for the feedback!
excellent review!!! thank you for showing the differences, especially the physical ones, made a 30 minute video an unexpected fun watch!
Thank you! I'm so glad it helped!
I was a heavy reader growing up, searching for an escape from a lonely and neglected home life. When I became a parent I lost interest, or more accurately, I lost time for books. This book was recommended to me and it might be the first book that I ever had a physical response to. The ending saw me throwing the book onto my bed and squealing while jumping up and down. This book gave me back my love of Reading! Excellent review!
What a special comment! ❤️
Thank you for a very informative nice video ❤
You're welcome!
White bezel is just so much worse 😂
I don't even notice it, really.
Actually it does look amazing, the green one with white bezel, looks very inviting, but of course if you don't see them side by side, it does not matter.
Great point!
Some of my books were borrowed library books and cannot be opened now.
It doesn't have to be a specific book! You can read any book and it will count
My kindle app does not track anything. Neither do any of my Kindle devices
Do you have an internet connection? Do you have an Amazon account?
I fugging LOVE this audiobook F U for beeing the first result when searching for it and you trashing it!!! As an Audio its awesome, thanx to the reader Todd habercorn, making it one of my top three ever!!!! (Havent read it, but listening to todds version is great!)
Clearly it has fans! I'm just not one of them!
No AI in UK
Really? That's so surprising!
I find it too heavy. I have the PPW model in agave green. It’s lighter and it feels better in my hand. I do absolutely LOVE the color it’s such a great reading experience but I have decided for the cost, no thanks.
The Kindle Basic is SO light! It's like you're not holding anything!
Are you having the yellow band issue on the colorsoft?
Nope, not at all!
@ I have ordered, fingers crossed they’ve fixed it then!
🤞🏻
Kindles suck. Real books or bust!
🤔
Nope.
The physical book crowd is so pathetic. They’re so scared to let other kinds of readers into the club. Reading is reading. As long as you’re reading it’s a win. The physical crowd need to stop being so elitist.
You helped me restore my reading streak as well! Thank you so much. Before finding your video, I called Kindle support and they could offer no help. Thank you again!
Airplane mode--- change your date in settings to day you missed in reading streak ----- read----- change date back to auto date and time---- turn off airplane mode--- whole lot of talking for no reason..........
Welcome to UA-cam! 😆
shut up now and read your book Jesse😅😂
Nice pocket sized review ,thanks. I appreciate the all clear for 14 yr olds as coincidentally was thinking about presenting this thrift shop find to my 14 yr old but wasnt sure if the content wasn't too adult.
Yay! Enjoy!
Is it possible to watch video on color?
Nope!
I'm so excited for mine to come in the mail. Have to wait until early January.
Lucky!! Enjoy it!
I can’t seem to make it work 😢
Follow the steps EXACTLY, then give it several hours--maybe even overnight. It should work!
Can't thank you enough 💗💗💗💗💗 ! I wish to thank that original post as well but it's locked. 🎉🎉
You're welcome!!!
I’ve tried a few times and I can’t get this to work :( I’ve tried a recent “missed” day and the first day I “missed” this year when I had 154 days and it hasn’t worked 😢
It should work! Follow the directions EXACTLY, and then wait several hours, maybe even overnight, for it to update. Good luck!
The AI Features (Handwriting improving & Summarization) are not available in Canada, Australia, and the U.K., i.e. outside the U.S.A. Very discouraging and a slap in the face for someone like me who has touted the Kindle Scribe from day one. In my opinion, no one should support this company unless/until this outrageous omission is corrected.
Really? That's unfortunate. I hope the software update is released soon!
May I ask what brightness and warmth settings you use on your Colorsoft?
13 brightness, 9 warmth. With auto brightness and auto scheduled warmth adjustment.
@ Thank you! 🙏
As an owner of iPad, kobo, and the new paper white THE SCRIBE is amazing the writing experience is insane. I literally am shocked how much I love it
Right?! It's pretty great, I completely agree.
I want the color soft. I miss color novels covers. I love comics. My tablet is just too heavy for casual use. I like the water proof and size fitting in my pockets.
It's pretty great! If you buy one, use my link in the comments and I'll earn a small commission!
I absolutely love immersion reading on the kindle app. My only wish is that the actual Kindle device could do this.
Me too!
Damon Salvatore’s favourite book
🧛♂️
Hold my Boox Go 10.3 😜
Ya, I've thought about it. It's just that the Amazon devices have such well developed software, and it's so easy to add books via Amazon.
The Oasis is ergonomic champion
True! If only they made a color Oasis with USB-C!
@@onemanbookclub2585 I read print color is not necessary. For the record I have watched B&W television too 💪🏾💪🏾
To say that a Kindle Colorsoft is better than a Kindle Oasis is… wild. To each their own but the Oasis was made with premium materials such as glass on the front and metal on the back; it has turn page buttons, and trust me if you’re left handed you won’t find a Colorsoft or any other device without button more comfortable than the Oasis which can rotate and be used with your left hand. Also, the Oasis has a crispier screen, that impacts the quality of your reading experience, and if you only read novels or books you won’t need colors, you will need a clear and crisp text on the page. And that without talking about the yellowing problems of the Colorsoft… Of course that’s just my opinion but I feel like that the Colorsoft is not better, but just a completely different experience.
Trust me, I LOVED my Oasis! I never thought I'd give it up! Yes, premium materials. Left handed use though is a moot point...the Colorsoft can be used left handed easily--I do all the time. I thought I'd miss the page turn buttons. Turns out, I don't. The Oasis having a crisper screen is absolutely false. The Color is just cool. No yellowing anymore. Not having to carry around two chargers is so much more helpful than I thought it would be. So ya. I never thought the day would come. Now...if Amazon would make a color Oaisis with USB-C...🤯
Matcha basic kindle is best. The size makes it so comfortable to read.
It's SO light!
Love the Scribe, but too big, not waterproof. It in color would be nice also.
Color would be amazing! I thought that many times myself. You're right, the Scribe is too big to be a comfortable daily e-reader. The reason the Scribe is great is for its ability to be a notebook too. I wasn't sure if I'd find a place for the Scribe of my life when I first got it. But now that I've had it for quite a while, it has a permanent place in my life routine.
Paperwhite for the win!! I pretty much have tried them all and always gravitate towards the paperwhite. So simple but so effective. Cheers!
✊🏻
I've always gone for the "basic" Kindle(s) My first was a 4th Gen and I recently bought another one, 2nd hand in mint condition and _still_ love using it. My 2nd was a 10th Gen white (no fingerprints) which, in spite of being in a case, developed a small "crack" in the bezel, next to the screen. So, I decided to "upgrade" to the Matcha Green, which I picked up for £74 on a Black Friday deal. I also bought the OEM, matching green case, which is lovely to hold and looks good either closed, open, or folded back (the magnets holding it neatly in place, unlike some other "book type cover!" The Kindle looks great. Again, unlike the black models, no fingerprints, something I can't abide. I don't need any bells or whistles and rarely use the backlight. It's snappy, page turn wise and the text is crystal clear. The one thing I'm really chuffed about is the "progress in book" option. I had that on the 10th Gen, but I kept "triggering" it accidentally and I couldn't disable it permanently. I don't know whether it's deliberate, but I find, that I have to double tap it in order to change the setting. I have it set on page/percentage and there hasn't been a single accidental triggering of it, which suits me just fine. 😉😉📚
Great review! I need to check out this guy's books. I like the content information too.
Yes you do! Thanks for stopping by, I hope you stick around!
For anyone that doesn't know, there are books for game playing and crosswords, daily planners, journals etc. for the Scribe and I love them. It is so nice to do puzzles and plan my day.
Oh, that's cool! What are they called? That sounds fun!
I have the Paperwhite SE. i have used Kindles since 2009. I am probably going to buy the colorsoft eventually once they work the kinks out. I also have a Kobo Libra Color that I used exclusively for a few months but Amazon roped me back in and I’m now primarily using my new SE
Awesome! It's nice to meet another Kindle fan. My first was a kindle Keyboard around the same time as you. I think you can safely consider the kinks worked out of the Colorsoft. They are shipping again, and I'm extremely happy with mine. If you don't mind, use my link in the video description to buy anything from Amazon and I'll earn a small commission. Thanks for watching!
