Individual Potential, Mike Mentzer

Transcription: In order to train as hard as possible, you must retain a clear image of your purpose. Once your goal is sharply, but realistically defined, all that reamins is carrying out your plan. Don't, however, worry about your individual potential. Potential is only the expression of a possibility, something that could be accessed accurately only in retrospect. In other words, YOU'LL NEVER...

Don't even have the discipline to make journal entries. Maybe im just not interesting, but I respect the grind

Don’t make journalling about discipline, makes it feel more like a chore than something you want to do, you should journal when you need to get your thoughts and feelings out

That's the importance of having a big vocabulary and being a good speaker. He just gave the perfect argument to start lifting/excersising just as good as plato did, he put to rest a lot of doubts and neurotic traps people get into when it comes to excersise. When I was a little fat kid I was scared to workout but I luckily dipped my toe in. I wish I would've seen this clip when I started too and not "6 QUICK WAYS GET A SIC PACK" "BIGGER ARMS IN ONE DAY *PROOF*"

If you think it is difficult to pinpoint the exact "breaking point"....It is when she refused to take his calls. Listen to what he said. "I think I got stomach cancer. You're only as healthy as you feel." He obviously wasn't well, or at least wasn't feeling well. The very next journal entry, he had begun to vilify her, saying, "She is just like the others." This is Travis placing blame anywhere except on his own shoulders. He then (wrongly) projects his anger toward Palentine. All while trying to play Captain-Save-A-Ho with little Miss Foster. Betsy called it...The man was a walking contradiction.

this goes for so many things beyond lifting. it’s insane how just a few words can change your entire outlook on life. I may not agree with his training techniques, but Mike was a damn fine intellectual and it’s so sad that his wisdom can’t be heard in person today

It's crazy how difficult it is to pinpoint the moment his journal entries go from relatively normal to completely unhinged incel ranting. Even hearing them all side by side I still can't pick it out.

I feel like it starts out pretty extreme. In his first entry he’s already talking about the day a “real rain” comes around to wash away the filth. Generally speaking, most people who have reached the point of wishing bloody vengeance on society as a whole are already dancing on the periphery of extreme, in my opinion at least.
